The definition of being an American. That’s what’s being asked. My definition anyways. There will likely be a lot of run on but I don’t really care. Do note this is coming from a 16 year old boy in high school who is failing 4 classes and isn’t motivated enough to do anything about it, so taking time to do this is surprising to me. Anyways I’ll try my best to do three points of being American but it probably won’t happen. It’s always a pleasure to waste time. The first and most obvious thing about being an American is patriotism. Patriotic Americans are all about their country and will do just about anything to protect its glory. Patriotic music is made all the time, “Murica! f%#k yeah!” being one of them and one of my favorites. Thats besides the point. People often dub most white American forms music as “country music.” Anyways being patriotic is not one of my own strong-suits but I do like being in America. A reason why is because I have rights. I am free to do what I want. With limitations of course. I have the right to my opinion. The right to my own political views. Currently our president, …show more content…
Americans LOVE food, especially meat. A lot of cities and towns even throw celebrations that encompass food in them. Like American Independence day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Small side note, Americans sure call throw a party. Besides large parties and celebrations, I myself am an avid eater and enjoy all types of food, even though I may have some health problems to accompany them. Having all types of good food everywhere around you is American and patriotic in itself. In America we are entitled to have freedom of choice in what we eat. We can go to supermarkets and pick out our own selection of food. Store are often full of amazingly healthy and unhealthy food alike. From fresh fruit and veggies to nice beef, pork, and seafood, to delicious treats of chocolate. In short we have freedom to eat what we want when we
To be an American is to be proud of your flag and country, to be willing to suffer for America, and to never be willing to give up.
Americans are defined by the respect they have for their country and its government, in taking advantage of their freedoms and rights that they gain by showing respect through allegiance, pride, and loyalty.
Americans can cherish their freedom of expression and are part of a diverse culture. An American is someone who would embrace freedom and liberty. Overall, to be an American, it is crucial to embrace the culture and become a part of it disregarding where you were born.
What does it mean to be an American? To me, what it means to be American is to Pledge Allegiance to your country, to proudly boast that you live in a country that has a justification for existence, to be given opportunity. Although there are many definitions of what it means to be an American, does being an American really just mean being successful in society? The point of this essay is to describe the different meanings and my feelings of what it is to be “American”.
An American is someone who is free to do whatever whenever he wants. He is someone who doesn't care about who judges him or what people think. All he cares about is his version of the American dream. His version may be different from everyone else's but an American has the freedom to be different in whatever way he wants to. This is what an American is.
Around the world, being American means many different things ranging from ignorant to arrogant. However, in America we have our own ideas of what it means to be American. There are three values that make any person American: freedom, opportunity, and equality.
Patriotism for your country comes from your personal beliefs. It is when you really love and remain loyal to your country no matter the cost. The men and women that fought to defend the honor of our country are the true patriots. War is not supported by everyone, but these men still risk their lives to protect the freedom of the citizens that don’t believe in what they are fighting for. For them it is all about remain loyal to America, and standing up for what they believe in.
(An in depth analysis into my personal views on what it means to be an American)
The definition of an American, is someone who is a citizen of the United States. Many African Americans, and immigrants struggled to become actual Americans in their lifetimes, because others didn 't see them as actual people; and based it on the color of someone. In today 's world people who live in America consider themselves as Americans, but to me there is certain qualities that make a person an American. To me being a true American is not based off of what Country they were born in, or what race their parents are, or even if they were immigrated to the United States. People from all over the world would say that maybe people could base this off of someone 's family heritage, or where they were before they came to America. If you were asked what makes an American an American what would you base it off of? To me there are four specific characteristics that make a person a true American; those three things would be, freedom, individuality, belief in the country, and happiness.
The United States as a country has always been an entity unique amongst the world’s myriad of nations: a conglomeration of cultures, ethnic groups and religious backgrounds from around the planet, all fused together to yield something entirely new. Since its very inception, those who dwell within its borders have attempted to ascertain the makeup of the American identity, in order to pin down how exactly one can come to be considered as an American themselves. This is inherently quite a subjective issue, but the conversation primarily boils down to three core factors that make the American people who they are: a dedication to preserving the natural rights of every human being, a belief in the importance of the individual in deciding their own
Many people have asked the question, and many others have been asked, ‘What is the greatest country in the world?’ Or, if you live in America, ‘Why is America the greatest country in the world?’ Many people answer this by saying things such as freedom, our education, diversity, etc., while others may say the people who live here, namely, Americans. Yet few are able to sufficiently answer the next question, ‘What makes a person an American?’ Many will say that living here makes you an American. Yet they seem to forget about the thousands, if not millions, of illegal immigrants that are living in our country. Are they Americans just because they are living in our country? Our federal government does not agree, which is why we have several laws concerning the deportation of illegal immigrants. Others, who see past the simple idea of living here as a means of being an American, may say that your characteristics help to define you as an American. Yet the most agreeable answer would be a combination of the two. An American would be someone who lives in America legally, and also holds within themselves various characteristics, which among these include an over-abundance of confidence,
These dishes that are special to us exemplify the huge influence that our culture has on our identities as well. We should all be able to celebrate these unique delicacies without fear of judgement or remorse afterwards. Negative thoughts imposed by the health and diet industry would have us avoiding a lot of these options, and therefore, negatively impact how we view ourselves. It is interesting to note that there are both positive and negative cultural influences related to the same foods, no wonder most Americans second guess themselves when it comes to their dietary habits! Fundamentally, food is something that should be enjoyed.
There are many traits necessary for a person to be considered an American. In order to be an American, a person must be legalized, have gratitude, and be accepted.
“America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand. ”-(President Harry S. Truman) Today many people ask, “What does it mean to be American?” or “How can I be an American?”.
America is a capitalist society. It should come to a surprise when we live like this daily. We work for profit. We’ll buy either for pleasure or to sell later for profit. It should come to no surprise that our food is made the same way because we are what we eat.
