Attraction plays a big role in everyone’s life and no one gets around it. It’s not just about thinking someone is appealing or good looking; it has a lot more science and psychological reasoning in it (Proximity and Attraction). When people make friends, it’s because they are somewhat attracted to the friend and if someone wants to be your friend, they find you somewhat attractive. Your friends influence your attraction and what you like in a significant other by the way they talk good and bad about people (Proximity and Attraction). The way someone looks, acts, smells, and many other things make people attracted to them or make them look more appealing to other people. Studies show that there are five different types of attraction; proximity, association, similarity, reciprocal liking, and physical attractiveness. However, there are more things that make you attracted to someone besides the five main types of attraction (Proximity and Attraction). Proximity means you want someone to always be with you or be close to you. People tend to be attracted to other people who live near them or people they see often. Proximity has to do with attraction because if you see someone often or you talk to someone often, you are more likely to get to know each other, become friends, and then start dating. In order to really have feelings for someone and be attracted to them, you have to be near them a lot and see them fairly often. Leon Festinger, and two of his colleagues, Stanley Schachter and Kurt Back, studied proximity in 1950. Their study later on became one of the most famous studies on proximity. They investigated a small community that was part of the campus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Proximity and Attraction). They ... ... middle of paper ... ...ou want will come one day and that good things take time. Also, they might not be grateful of the things they get. If their grateful, they won’t take less than the best and be positive about getting it. Last, is not taking action. The laws of attraction will not just happen in front of your eyes. You have to wait on the right person to come along (The Universal Law of Attraction). Attraction is a very confusing and difficult thing to concept. It’s way more than just who you like or find attractive, it’s more of a science. Whether it’s someone’s smell, looks, personality, the reason their liked by a person is attraction. Studies show that there are five different types of attraction not including the types of attraction that branch off of the five main types of attraction. People cannot help who they’re attracted to, they just like people they were meant to be with.
Human’s put a tremendous amount of brain energy and time into obtaining happiness, which is normally associated with finding the “perfect” mate. Many aspects go into the process that is used to determine if one person is better suited than another. Appearance, age, and personality all contribute to someone’s level of attraction to another. Opposites attract is a common myth stating that those levels of attraction are based of extreme differences between the individuals and that difference is what produces the attraction.
Physical Attractiveness And Courtship. Sexual Behaviour, I, 22-25 Walster, E. (1966) Importance Of Physical Attractiveness In Dating Behaviour. Journal Of Personality And Social Psychology, 4, 508-516 Wilson, G. (1983) QED:The Science Of Sexual Attraction, BBC Television.
Scent is part of the five senses that are developed when an infant is still in the mother’s womb. It is processed by a part of the brain that correlates with memory, so at a young age an infant could differentiate who their mother is by scent. Odor is a sign and olfactory condition (Waskul & Vannini, 2008). As someone gets older they begin to develop scents they like and dislike. There are also scents that people find attractive and unattractive. When meeting another individual for the first time a human’s first instinct is to smell them without realizing it. For instance, have you ever sat by someone or hugged someone who smelled good or bad? If so, many people tend to associate the scent with attractiveness or unattractiveness depending on the level of smell. There have been many studies indicating that there is a strong correlation between odor and attractiveness. Although the scent is a universal and an undetectable smell it can influence the level of perceived attractiveness of another person.
Principle of Liking: The principle is based on three positives; Physical attractiveness, safety and belonging. Humans tends to associate with people who would guarantee these three or possess these characteristics. Familiarity often gets us to be comfortable when we are thrust among strangers or unfamiliar situations. We tend to love compliments hence flattery also creeps in to get us to accomplish certain tasks that we would not normally do.
There is no greater illusion of reality, to man, than the act of seduction because at its core, seduction optimizes illusion. There is a place in the brain of man that drives him to develop his own understanding of the world. He does not understand it so he seeks stability in himself through a series of manipulations that develop a sense of alpha superiority- creating a self-made god of his own universe. Seduction is the process that he uses to achieve this. It is primal, it is ritualistic and it is engaging enough that man buys in fully to the invitation to indulge his ego.
Homosexuality can be described as a romantic or sexual attraction or act between people of the same gender, and it can also be a term used to refer to a person's sense of identity based on the same attractions or behaviors. Homosexuality is among the three main categories of sexual orientation, alongside heterosexuality and bisexuality, and up to the present day, the scientists have not been able to know the factors that determine the sexual orientation of different people. Some of them, however, guess that sexual orientation of different people is caused by a complex interplay of the hormonal, genetic and environmental influences, and it is not a choice for the people concerned.
Sexual orientation is a topic scientists spend a great deal of time researching, however it is unclear what factors really have an effect on one’s sexual orientation. The role of biology, culture, socialization, and age contribute to the influences of sexual orientation.
Whether it is the friends we choose or our romantic partners there is something that attracts us to the other person in these relationships. Maybe something that unknowingly leads us to develop a relationship with them. What is it that attracts a person to develop a relationship with them? In both friendships and romances. What is it that makes these relationships long lasting? With the high divorce rate among Americans and the rest of the world what is it that separates a couple? Could it be associated with the fact that the number one argument couples have is about money( ) ? Why do some marriages last and others end? These are the questions and theories I have searched for.
The definition of beauty is varying among different people in the world. Even though almost everyone knows the term beauty, many people are struggling in defining it and persuading others to agree with their opinions. Beauty is defined by a combination of qualities existent in a person or thing that fulfills the aesthetic feels or brings about profound gratification. Many people define beauty as a term to describe a person’s physical appearance; they often think that beauty comes from magazines, video girls, or even models. Although the term beauty can define a person’s physical appearance, true beauty lies in the way one acts and thinks rather than the way one look.
The title of this principle seems as if it were sprung from a love epic of old, but it is nonetheless true. The Law of Attraction is an ancient law, perhaps as old as time, if there was such an incident as a beginning of time. “The greatest teachers who have ever lived have told us that the law of attraction is the most powerful law in the Universe” (Byrne, 4). William Shakespeare, Ludwig van Beethoven, Leonardo da Vinci, Socrates, Plato, Sir Isaac Newton, even Victor Hugo knew of this great law and all recognized it to be one that could change the lives of men. The law has everything to do with the calming of the mind and of the frequencies of the thoughts of those doing so.
Sexual attraction refers to desirability as it relates to a sexual connection; individuals are sexually attracted to those they would perceive as a mate in some way. This attraction can be rooted in a variety of factors, including those both tangible and intangible. Sexual attraction often refers to physical attraction, or being aroused by a person’s physical traits. These can include appearance, smell, or voice. However, sexual

Nonetheless, beauty should not be seen on a physical level, but it should also encompass a person’s character. To further elaborate and understand beauty, one should know how the media perceives beauty towards
