Try and think of the world, or specifically America, without art, media, or sports being present within it. Visualize how odd and different the people would be in society and through interactions between each other. In a way, art, media, and sports make our country, and parts of the world continue to move forward. Economies worldwide would not be the same without the three items. Art, media, and sports each provide their own unique portion of making our world go round. “If I make a painting, it should be seen for what it’s set out to do too. The book refers to the book, “Prime –Time Society: An Anthropological Analysis of Television and Culture,” about a study done on how television influences behavior, attitudes, and value within the countries of United States and Brazil. Examples of research are given about the home life of people within the countries of the United States and Brazil as it relates to family size. Examples given on how possibly, media portrays life with bigger families versus smaller families. The media, has possibly, made it so that Brazilians who have television have less pregnancies, then those who do not have televisions. Between high school games on Friday nights, college games on Saturdays, or professional games on Sundays, football has million of people spectating and watching its games every weekend. But what exactly makes football so special to Americans? Could it be that is a national pastime? Or what if it is only popular because that is the way media portrays it throughout America? Anthropologists W. Arens says that the game of football is popular within our country due to the symbolization of key aspects of American lives (Kottak). The game uses a team focusing on teamwork and using each person’s skill as a contribution to the team as a whole. This goes on within America on a daily basis. People within different work places doing different jobs trying to make there company better then the others, just as football teams do every game and season. Sports worldwide are on the rise. Baseball, basketball, and even volleyball are on the rise, but there is one sport that has the most participation is soccer. Soccer is the most prevalent sport played worldwide, because it is the most accessible to play do to just needing a ball. Other sports require a lot to use, which can be expensive. If football was not so expensive, along with other reasons, it could have expanded and taken flight within other countries as baseball and soccer
