Electrical engineering, I believe, is the only field where one’s work becomes the most instrumental part of one’s mundane activity and life, and the output produced stays forever to credit. My perception is that, this field requires a lot of patience, perseverance and management skills in order to be successful. My decision for Master of Science in Electrical and Environmental Engineering is an effort to quench my thirst of knowledge and contribute to the field by positive research. I took up subjects like Analog Integrated Circuit, Power Electronics, Electric Drives and Circuits, Operations Research, Power System Analysis, Power System Switchgear and Micro-controller and its applications. In addition, I have also worked on mini-projects like “Alcohol Breath Analyser using Arduino Microcontroller” and “Intelligent Trash can using AVR Microcontroller”. These have given me good exposure for research work and also increased my confidence to work as a team and independently. From the feedback that I received about my project reports and presentations I deduced that I can articulate my ideas coherently. Secondary research was conducted through search engines, books, and a personal interview. A questionnaire was given out to a currently employed Electrical Engineer that holds a degree. It included questions about his daily life, the skills he uses, problems he faces, steps he takes to solve them and how he sees the future change for the field of electrical engineering.
Moreover, in my third year of engineering college I started to rethink my future career, and about exactly what I wanted to be. With this concern I had a chance to get into the Leaders Training Academy in Turkey. This academy is concerned about training the potential leaders in Arabic countries. One of the courses I took there was about planning for your life and how to discover yourself. I took many career and personality tests such as DISC test, but the results did not favor Engineering.
After school I undertook undergraduate course in Electronics and Communication. I studied the engrossing subjects of electronic devices, digital electronics and wireless communication. Working on projects and seminars further sharpened my analytical skills and made my approach result oriented. Industrial exposure through summer internship in Nokia Siemens and Tata Communications further strengthened my basics and consolidated my aspirations to work in Telecom Industry.
My Engineering degree has given a strong foundation to my analytical skills since civil design involves a lot of long, complex and intricate calculations and the application of basic math skills. Over the past four years, I have been working part-time with my family firm, SnMTech Systems. I am also the co-founder and active member with FOE - Friends of the Environment. I have assisted in the installation of Enterprise-wide Resource Planning (ERP) System at Blotech, a major Engineering Company. More than what I have studied in school and college, it has been these experiences that have shaped the person that I am today.

Engineering has been a key interest of mine since childhood. While still in grade school I enjoyed listening to my father, an electrical engineer, teach me about advances in technology, and was always eager to hear more. In the realm of engineering, I have developed a special interest in the field of laser technology and have even been taking a graduate course in quantum electronics. Among the 25 or so students in the course, I am the sole undergraduate. Another particular interest of mine is electromagnetics, and last summer, when I was a technical assistant at a world-famous local lab, I learned about its many practical applications, especially in relation to microstrip and antenna design. Management at this lab was sufficiently impressed with my work to ask that I return when I graduate. Of course, my plans following completion of my current studies are to move directly into graduate work toward my master's in science. After I earn my master's degree, I intend to start work on my Ph.D. in electrical engineering. Later I would like to work in the area of research and development for private industry. It is in R & D that I believe I can make the greatest contribution, utilizing my theoretical background and creativity as a scientist.
