You know you use to be something special, someone I use to admire, love, and respect. I use to admire so many things about you. I admire how you use to not care about what people thinks about you, you do whatever you wants and you’re proud of it. It didn’t concern you what other people opinions were about you. I admire how you tell like it is. It didn’t concern you how people feel, because you know it’s the truth. Then I realized that how you respect them, you didn’t feed them lies and false hopes, but you were a straight man. I use to admire how, you know what it doesn’t matter. In argument or conversations, no matter how hard it is, you tell the truth even though the other person doesn’t know the whole story, the other side. You tell it …show more content…
But, when I do you prove to me that I was right in the beginning. There is clearly a different between fighting someone you love and fighting for the love you thought it would last forever, than clearly just stupidly fighting. So many times I’ve found myself asking “Why?” What make him so special? Why did you put him on a pedestal? Why can’t you get over him?” It is because he’s different? Yeah, he was. Ha, that exactly what it is. The fact that he USED to be different, he was someone special then. Somehow you became like the rest of them, among the fishes in the sea. Among all the fuck boys in the world, you were no longer the outlier. Just a normal guy that I can find within the rest of the world, nothing else more I’m so blind by our love that I nerve really wake up from it when it comes to you. I thought you were the same, but I so wrong. For so long I put you in my good guy list, no matter how hard you fought to be on the other side, I resist myself for letting you on the bad side. I held it back so much, it was insane, maybe that what it is, and I should just let you be you. Move you to the other side, because that what you are a good lesson that even the nicest guy in the world can change to a fuck
It is 9:00 PM on a Sunday night. Televisions all across America tune into MTV. Millions of viewers will now spend the next thirty minutes watching a television program titled 'Jackass'. While watching this program, the viewers will observe everything from people eating hard boiled eggs in an attempt to purposely vomit, to a man testing out various self defense devices on himself. Next week viewers will tune into the same program to see the same kinds of stunts performed. The reason that America watches these kinds of programs, and the participants in them perform these stunts, are because 'norms' are being broken. A norm is something that is generally accepted by a society as the right thing to do, or the way things are supposed to be. For example, a norm would be to enter an elevator and stand facing the front for the duration of the trip. Breaking that norm would be to enter the elevator and face the back for the duration of the trip. It is not what is expected. Different norms exist in different societies, and when these norms are broken within these societies people pay attention, because it is not an occurrence observed on a regular basis.
To violate a social norm, i will be greeting strangers in a nontraditional way. This norm acts as a mechanism of social control by getting people to give an approved reaction to meeting strangers. It allows us to be friendly without getting too personal. Normally when we greet a stranger we say something along the lines of, “Hello, how are you?”, and the other person responds by saying something like, “Good, how about you?”. Instead I will respond by giving them some unusual greetings to break this social norm.
Modern American honour values bravery, freedom and hard work. Honor has been expressed different for years and years in different countries. Honour is defined of someone having high respect, courage and being selfless. Honour can also be viewed as someone sacrificing something or themselves; like our US soldiers. Nothing stays the same and just like honour it has changed over time, many times depending on what is valued. History tells its own story from different perspectives of honour.
The world that Homer shows in the Iliad is a violent one, where war is not only a means of gaining wealth, but also the arena in which a man demonstrates his worth. The Greek army gathered in front of the walls of Troy exhibits the weaknesses and strengths of the Homeric world. Greece is not one nation, and the army of Greeks mirrors this. It is a collection of small city-states with a common culture and a common language, capable of coming together for a great enterprise, but also capable of being driven apart by petty squabbling. The common culture is based on acceptance of characteristics seen as virtuous: xeineia, or hospitality; agathos, the successful warrior; oikos, which means from noble birth; keleos, glory; pine, honor, which is a central motif throughout the Iliad; and finally, the ultimate virtue of arête, which stands for goodness or excellence and encompasses the other virtues. For Homer, a good man must be of noble family, strong, brave in battle, and wealthy. Earthly possessions show that a man has initiative and has the esteem of others. But the most important qualification to be considered a good man is honor, because honor is gained, not born into.
When you were younger I’m sure your teacher asked you and your classmates what you wanted to be when you grew up. I remember some of my classmates wanting to be a fireman, a police officer or a doctor. I wanted to be an educator. Being the naive and carefree child that I was, I had no knowledge of what responsibilities or rules would be packaged into this career. Now that I am in college earning my Bachelors in Elementary Education, my perspective of how a teacher should act and care for their students. As you continue reading, I will discuss my professional responsibility, the code of ethics I will follow, and the high moral standard that I set for myself.
The daunting task of violating a social norm, something that I could be ostracized and ridiculed for, I still chose to do. Social norms are the rules of behavior that are considered acceptable in a group or society. Doing weird things in public while surrounded by strangers is a recipe for disaster, especially for somebody like myself. I am awkward and have plenty of trouble talking to new people. Most of us are told not to talk to strangers when we are younger because there are all sorts of crazy people out there. There could not be a better way to break out of my shell and violate a social norm than to sit down and talk to total strangers while they eat.
Denied a job, missed opportunities, dating issues, societal oppression, and political targeting – These are all common examples of what happens when classism exists. Class, the economic or social status of an individual, in America is extremely important and can be easily used as a weapon against the masses. Classism as defined by Merriam-Webster is the "prejudice or discrimination based on class" (Merriam-Webster, 2017). Using class, or economic status, as a view point for an individuals, or group's worth, has been happening for many years. The act of discriminating against someone(s) based on this is at the heart of classism. This discrimination could be passing someone up for a job opportunity. I know that I start things between us a lot of the time, but even you know why. You know that it took a lot for me to trust you, but now I do. I am so happy that you are still here with me, being patient, and still by my side. So many people say that I will not make it far in life, but they do not understand me, let alone know me. So many of those people do not know how hard you push me to make something of myself. In the past, I honestly believed that I would not make it anywhere, but now I know that as long as I am happy and still alive, with you by my side I am doing great and can achieve anything.
There are many different types of relationships. From your neighbor to your significant other, experiencing different relationships is a part of everyday life. Wether you posses good or bad communication skills will affect the interpersonal relationships within your life. The popular television series Modern Family is a good example of the different types of friendships, types of love, and relationship theories that encompass the everyday person.
The analysis above assumes that the search for the meaning of human dignity in law can be a part of the emergence of this term in a list of legal texts and judicial decisions, in both national and international law. There is, however, another theme regarding the emergence of human dignity in law and this is related to the legal nature of human dignity in the functional mode. In particular, with respect to the practical sense of human dignity, we should explore the legal ground that justifies the role or status of dignity’s norm within the legal frameworks and legal reasoning. Two perspectives on the legal nature of human dignity are commonly possible; formal and substantive.
"'Never again.' That's what I said to myself. 'I never want to feel your kind of pain again.' Just when I think it's over, just when I think it's through... I find myself back in love with you."
What is being rude? Being rude according to its definition is being offensively impolite or ill-mannered. In todays society, whether its at home, in school, at the store, at work, or even on social media, the act of being rude is on the rise significantly.
Arbab Khatoon, 16, was stalked and raped by three men. Seven hours after Arbab reported this to the police her father stabbed her over and over again until she died. His reasoning? “My daughter lost her virginity before marriage. Rape does not justify that at all. Arbab brought dishonor to our family and needed to pay for it” (Chesler). The “category” this murder falls under is an Honor Killing. Honor Killings have been seen worldwide and continue to grow in the amount of victims. Occurring mostly in Middle-Eastern countries, more than any other, this type of killing is based solely on values and beliefs. How does one value their reputation over their own wives and daughters? Honor Killings are unjust and should be tried as a hate crime towards women.
How I had judged him the first time we met, how I had stared at him like he was weak and useless. Only because of what my parents taught me, that it was a disease and that it was wrong. But it didn’t take long before I discovered that I was just like him. I remember how painful the first weeks was, how I struggled to accept myself. Every time I saw Jimmy I would feel two things – intense love and intense hate.
