Every resident in Winnipeg who relies on Winnipeg Transit to get to their daily locations has been let down by the transit system at least once. Winnipeg transit is just a burden on the residents on the city and Winnipeg itself, so I’m proposing that Winnipeg Transit should be completely eradicated. Winnipeg could be much better off without public transit. They would have more money that they can spend on bigger issues. There would be way less clog up on main streets during rush hour because buses won’t be stopping. There would be less complaints going in to the city, making the satisfaction skyrocket. By cutting public transit, they’ll be saving on money that they can put towards fixing the city and helping the homeless. In Winnipeg, we have iconically bad roads. There’s pot holes and cracks everywhere, and it has damaged vehicles. If you have a low riding vehicle and hit a really bad pothole, you may not have a working vehicle anymore. With the money Winnipeg would be saving from cutting public transit, they could fix probably all the most problematic roads in the city. Homelessness is a big issue in Winnipeg. Cutting public transit can affect the homeless if they wish to go anywhere, but the funds that can go into homeless help and support would be …show more content…
Everyone’s angry and yelling, and yelling at the buses that keep stopping every two seconds to pick someone up or drop someone off. Winnipeg’s rush hours span from around 7am to 9am, and 3pm to 6pm. While everyone is rushing to get to work, or to get home, there’s constantly busses stopping, congesting the traffic and disrupting the flow. If Winnipeg removes public transit, traffic on main routes such as Portage or Osborne during rush hour would speed up, leaving the residents much more happy then they are now. Obviously there will still be actual people driving, but there will be way less complete halts of traffic during rush
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is not the best method of transportation in the city of Toronto, because it’s unreliable, inconvenient, and unsanitary. First of all, the TTC is unreliable because of many delays. The TTC buses often come late and there are many subway breakdowns and signal problems. These problems can cause longer wait times and result in the rider being late. Additionally, the TTC is inconvenient because it is difficult for the rider to get to his or her destination without a few transfers. In addition, there are very few direct routes and limited area coverage. For example, there are some areas where passengers have to walk long distances just to get to the bus stop. These problems can result in many transfers and cause
Canada became an emerging country after the Second World War. There was a need for Canada to identify themselves as a distinct nation from Britain and the United States. The Trans Canada Highway became a visible nationalistic figure that set apart Canada from other countries. The Trans Canada Highway was a significant structure built in 1949 through 1961 that emerged as a result of a newfound unity and nationalistic view in Canada. Although there were many different political, personal and economical standpoints on the building of the highway, the finalization of the construction of the highway brought a unique unity that could be appreciated by all Canadians.
The overall location of Montreal would lead to large transportation problems for the city. More specifically, the fact that Montreal was an island made it difficult during the fall, spring, and winter for transportation of goods, such as flour, timber, etc. The only positive aspect was that the St-Lawrence river would freeze during the winter months and therefore, this would benefit “local traffic” given they would use the “frozen surface
It is my stance that, this busing system is obsolete and the a persistent source of much of the problem that it’s claiming to solve. The current transportation idea is claiming to keep the races balanced or attempting to, but what I wonder is, why do they need to be integrated by force, why not let it happen ...
...mpensation for transport is less severe on the consumer's budget. Consequently, Americans who save more money will also be able to better afford the costs of living, which reduces homelessness, a large problem in the U.S.
Privatizing the public transport is not a good idea but it will help to improve the city transport much better and convenience to the public. The downside of this solution is rider fare will increase frequently, but the city can regulate competition between privatized in order to keep prices down for consumers while the city can save more and also people can get much better transportation
Overall, both Los Angeles and New York City realize that public transportation is lacking and are working to improve it slowly. Funding seems to be the main issue for both cities, which is why strategic and innovative planning is necessary for taking any steps toward major improvement.
Even though there are positives to having public housing there are still some negatives that are present when looking at the way government is involved with housing programs. With having the federal government involved and giving up most of the responsibilities to provincial government it was a loss for the money that would be provided to fixing up and creating new public housing. Like in Regent Park a lot of the public housing that had been made by the federal government has been starting to be demolished to make areas that will bring in more economic
Deregulating transportation would have several benefits for American motorists and pedestrians. By deregulation of transportation, I mean having very limited traffic laws. This entails removing most traffic signs, specifically those that inform drivers of the laws. In addition, all traffic control devices should be removed, this includes traffic signals, speed bumps, rumble strips and other traffic control features. Even though opponents say this would cause complete anarchy on the road, traffic laws and control devices should be removed.
When you encounter a city such as Chicago, it is practically impossible to avoid CTA and Metra trains. From short store errands to long journeys home, the CTA is there as your personal downtown car. If you do not have enough money to put into owning a car or simply do not want to put up with trying to find parking in the congested city, the CTA is there for you. Where more people to use the CTA, the amount of gas polluting the earth would significantly decrease the pollution levels in Chicago. Since there aren't as many cars on the road, it not only decreases the carbon monoxide leaking from cars but the amount of cars on the road, which also decreases the amount of people on the road. Numerous laws state how using the CTA could benefit people in Chicago overall. These are just some of the reasons Metra and the CTA has impacted everything from population to economics and even political and environmental issues.
The possibility that bringing light rail transportation to Vancouver had been a topic ever since the Columbia Crossing Project started. Many peoples feel that Vancouver should bring light rail to Vancouver while others feel the opposite opinion. People thinks the idea that bringing light rail to Vancouver will reduce traffics and provide more safety in the streets. Although this may be true, I think that we should not bring the light rail to Vancouver because they will need to spend big money on the light rail, it will increases crimes to the city, and it will bring a overall track record.
I am writing to you today in concern of the rising traffic congestions throughout the city of Toronto. This January, The Star released a news article titled, Toronto dominates list of worst traffic jams across Canada. This is incredibly concerning, because this could affect the way Canadians travel from point A to point B on Canadian roads. According to a new CAA study, bottlenecks, also known as the point of blockage, congestion, and gridlock, are costing drivers over 11.5 hours and 22 million litres of fuel annually. To add on, a portion of Hwy.401, which runs through central Toronto, has been deemed the ninth-most clogged artery in Canada and the United States according to the CAA.
Public transportation is a very essential tool for people to get around, such as college students, or employed individuals. Not only does public transportation help people who need to get around without a car, but it also saves you money and contributes to our economic growth. 87% of our public transits trips directly impact the economy. This is because public transportation is a direct connection to jobs or retail environments. Public transportation opens up many new opportunities for people.
Furthermore, the high-speed rail network could mean twenty-nine million fewer car trips and 500,000 fewer plane flights annually, according to a 2006 study ...
This paper aims at providing more information concerning the different modes of transport, their characteristics and also the comparison of these modes with one another in an effort to establish the best mode of transport for specific commodities. The paper also takes into consideration the various factors affecting the transport sector; such as cost of transportation, flexibility, time factor and reliability. Transport refers to the process that enables physical movement of goods and people from on area to another. Transport is very important in the sense that it ensures availability of raw materials to manufactures, producers and also to construction sites (Clifford Winston,?2010). It makes sure that goods are available
