Lyle and Erik Menendez were just two young boys who seemingly had their whole futures planned out due to their father, Jose. Jose worked hard to provide the extravagant lifestyle the family had lived, but that came with repercussions. Jose was said to never be easy on the boys, always beating them down, never up. This lit a fire under the boys to get their revenge, not only on their father, but on their mother, Kitty. The rage for their mother came from the idea that she knew about how hard Jose was on the boys and about the alleged sexual abuse, and did nothing. The boys were to meet whatever expectation their father put into place and if they did not that would result in repercussions. So, to be on the right track, Lyle was enrolled and going to Princeton, and Erik was planning to attend UCLA in the fall. Everything seemed to be on the right track, but Jose soon packed his family up and moved them to Beverly Hills, California. The brothers did not respond well to this move, soon acting out and committing petty crimes here and there, but nothing major. Both of the brothers were known for stealing little things, and Lyle was known for cheating on his assignments, but all of this was to make Jose angry (“Joseph Lyle”). Although Lyle was prone to cheating and petty crimes, Erik seem to have deep rooted problems. In order to help, Jose paid for Erik to begin seeing a therapist to work out his problems. But it seemed that Jose in order for his reputation to not be damaged. A well-known business man could not be known as the father of crazy kid. Although it benefitted Jose, it also benefitted Erik. Erik was finally able to get close to someone and talk about whatever problems he was going through, Dr. Jerome Oziel was finally his way to vent out his problems.
