In the film Equilibrium directed by Kurt Wimmer, an important setting is Liberia. The setting helped me understand the character Cleric John Preston. Wimmer used various film techniques to show this. The city of Liberia is a controlled surrounding ruled by the Father. There are thick concrete walls that are just grey. There is absolutely no colour to the city which gives us a robotic impression as people wear the same uniform like many NZ High-schools with their draconian uniform rules, except that the Liberian uniforms are black, grey or white. There are armoured vehicles and a high angle shot is used to show the armoured vehicles passing by Tetragrammaton's headquarters through a bridge. It's supposed to be for their protection but resembles …show more content…
But things change when Preston realises the true values of emotions and feelings and now we understand his journey when he starts to feel. When he realises he could feel, a mid-shot is used to show Preston as he stands in the mirror thinking whether he should take the dose or not. All that shock builds up making us think of what he does next. But then we realise his decision in the next scene, as a close-up shot is used to show his hand when he drops his Prozium doses to the ground and crushes them. Preston has discovered another side to Liberia, he realises that what Father is doing is wrong and sets out to destroy Liberia and Father. The director deliberately uses a mid-shot to show what Preston does when he realises that this is wrong. Also, an overhead shot is used and it could be seen as a mid-shot in the mirror. The Director uses this scene because he knows that it will surprise us of Preston's decision and whether he takes the Prozium drug or not. Here Wimmer uses the idea of emotions and feelings to convey relevance to real life because in the film Father is in control of everything and he has the rule of sense-offending which means all Liberians can't feel. Father kills all those who can feel. This is relevant to real life because in reality Adolf Hitler was a dictator and killed millions of Jews. This makes the Father a dictator as well because he kills people for
Before he actually gave up he fought against the firm for firing him and won because the reason they gave for firing was false. Hitler had a lot to do with Germany and he was remembered but not because of anything positive, but because he was one of the worst coldhearted dictators Germany or the world could’ve experienced. My view and Topic is worth consideration by the reader because it will inform them more about Hitler’s actions in 1933 and so on.
Forthright emotions are not necessary in this piece for the reader to connect, understand, or empathize with the plot. Johnson created a character who clearly has emotions, but chooses to safeguard them for a realistic feeling and the ability to concentrate on the more important purpose of the novel: to expose the difficulties a man with dual identity may face in a time period determined on separating and segregating who he is. Detached and emotionless, in this well-crafted and well-thought-out scenario, expresses more emotion and creates a more realistic novel than a complex examination of his inner feelings may have
We all hear the term “monopoly” before. If somebody doesn't apprehend a monopoly is outlined as “The exclusive possession or management of the provision or change a artifact or service.” but a natural monopoly could be a little totally different in which means from its counterpart. during this paper we'll be wanting into the question: whether or not the govt. ought to read telephones, cable, or broadcasting as natural monopolies or not; and may they be regulated or not?
Political science first emerged as an academic discipline towards the end of the 19th century and mainly focused on formal institutions, structures and organizations within government (Theodore Rosenhof, 1). However, at the mark of the 1920’s this approach towards institutions began to be revised. Soon a behavioral approach towards government surfaced which focused on electoral patterns and voting behavior (Theodore Rosenhof, 1). In using this approach, many academics recognized an alarming amount of movements and change across the state; resulting in a dynamic, rather than a stagnant, political network. These establishments and generalizations made by academics eventually culminated in what is presently known as the realignment theory (Theodore

Dictatorial leaders don’t want parents influencing their children because they know in the end most parents would want to do what is best for their children. Dictatorial leaders want complete control over its citizens. Separating families helps this because once families are separated it makes it easier to teach all the children from a young age the same ideas. To implant the ideas that benefits these leaders to maintain a totalitarian society. Once they enforce the same rules and ideas to the future citizens it’s a way to ensure that it continues through generations. It also reduces the risk of people thinking it is wrong or unfair because the entire community was brought up with the same views on life. Many people woul...
Spirituals: African American spirituals are a key contribution to the creation of the initial genre of jazz. African Americans used spirituals during the earliest turmoil of slavery. These spirituals were used as songs to sing during labor and an initial way of communication for the Underground Railroad. These African American folk sounds mixed with gospel hymns were sun fused with instruments such as the harmonicas, banjos, and other instruments that could primarily be found. This initial form of the music started to separate itself from the gospel rendition. This mixture of different styles of music fused and gave birth to such things as minstrel shows, ragtime, and other forms of music. The most important that spirituals truly helped develop, was Jazz. Spirituals were the first true form of Negro expression in the form of music. Marshall W. Steams, Professor of English Literature at Hunter College states that “The spiritual was created out of nowhere by a sort of spontaneous combustion of Negro’s genius” (125). This mixture of hymns and instrumental instruction took form into one of the most versatile genres known to date, Jazz.
Greed and incentives are two terms that each play a role in the other. Incentives are sometimes rewarding and sometimes punishing. Greed is intense and selfish, but is it really bad? By looking at it from an economical perspective, one can see how forms of greed and incentives play a crucial role in the free market society.

Centuries later and the name Adolf Hitler still rings volumes till this present day: discussed in history books, talked about amongst intellects and commoners alike, and despised by many for years to come. Upon hearing his name many may think of all the negative things Hitler has done, but few fail to analyze just how one man created such controversy amongst a nation without being stopped. The question then lies how does a man reign over country and devastate it for years to come? Adolf Hitler, a man who excelled in persuasion and charisma was able to reign over Germany for years. Born in Austria April 20th 1889, Hitler grew up with many hardships in his life.

In his thoughts, “ Give up Jean Valjean? That was wrong.
Social problem is a broad topic, there is “No conclusive idea of what constitutes a social problem.” To define a social problem, there are generally three different ideas to define a social problem, “Something that impacts a large group; Something that the people in a society collective agree it is problematic; Something that violates a moral code.” (Logan) Healthcare has been on the spot light, because of The American Health Care Act. I’d like to present health care in United States as a social problem, because it qualify the three ideas to define social problem. First of all, it impacts a large group in the society, because of its cost. According to CDC, “28.2 million people who are under age of sixty five are insured” (CDC). Second, people in a society collective
