Extreme Sports Cannot Be Banned
Currently, three out of four American families have at least one kid in the family that is involved in sports. This totals to 45 million kids in just America (Atkinson, 2014, para. 4). The Olympics have been around as early as 776 BC (ushistory.org, 2017, para. 3) and the X Games were founded in 1995 ( Pickert, 2009, para. 2). The Olympics and the X Games are held every year in the summer and the winter. Sports are important; they possess such a major part of peoples lives daily. Sports connect people together; without them, life would be tedious and

Equipment can range from a special type of shoes to a special type of goggles. Equestrianism is one of the many sports played in the Olympics. Equestrianism is horseback riding. Horseback ridding was practiced as far back as the Bronze Age and was therefore adapted to commerce, industry, war, sports, and recreation (Gordon-Watson, The Handbook of Riding 1982; W. C. Steinkraus and M. A. Stoneridge, The Horse in Sport 1987). A couple pieces of equipment used in this sport is a saddle, and a rein. A saddle lets a rider ride a horse comfortably and safely. A rein protects the horse and gives the rider something to cling to other than the horse. Snowboarding is practiced in the X Games. Snowboarding competitions are held during the winter. The competitors are instructed to dress warm and wear helmets with goggles to protect their cranium and eyes. Most of these high schoolers are pressured to be perfect in academics and to play like a professional in sports. Having a team is nice because there are benefits such as friendly competition, friends for a lifetime, and a family that has your back. Any bonds accomplished from being in a team help shape the people we become later in life. Abraham Lincoln once said ‘If everyone is moving forward, then success takes care of its self.’ Every person has their own skills but together those skills make the individuals stronger. Once a team is strong, nothing can stop them from reaching their goal. In sports history, there are quite a few people who made achievements that brought about great change. One man, in particular, was a heavyweight boxer named Jack Johnson. He grew up in

To me the role of sports in society is for men and women of all ages to grow and develop and be responsible members of society and the community. Sports can bring a community together as long as it doesn 't become the religion of who we are as christians. It also gives us a different setting to interact with each other and learn from one another so we can become better as a whole. Coming together as a community and being able to learn and have fun is probably one of the most important aspects to me when it comes to sports. There should be no reason that parents have to get into arguments because of a call a referee makes in their child 's game. Also sports have become a bigger deal in society then just about fun and learning the sport. A great deal of it, at the higher level has so do with economics and social status’. Players with exceptional talent are now seen in commercials and have huge salaries to play sports or even at the college level earn scholarships to get into colleges for free. I mean hey, if your that good then good for you!

You see sports everywhere, on your TV and even your local park. The value of sports in the average American is astronomical, sports is a major priority in people’s life. Sports teaches young kids how to be successful (and not successful) at life. There is so much that goes into sports that people who never have played will never understand. With each sport there is specific skill that one must master to be good, and with that takes hours and hours of hard work. You can talk about a certain individual’s skill and capabilities that make him great, but the real value of sports lies within a person. Sports creates determination and a competiveness that can be used in other areas of life, not just sports. There are millions of kids who attempt to become professional athletes but as the level of competition increases the number of athletes decreases, very few of them ever becoming a professional athlete but they are able to take what they have learned from sports into different professions in life. When a kid spends hours in the backyard perfecting his swing it can translate to the kid spending hours of hard work in his job. Companies and business like to hire ex-athletes because they already know what kind of person they are, hardworking and
When riding a horse you don’t just sit there and do nothing, You work hard to control a 800-1000 pound animal. You have to push your horse and yourself to the greatest you can be. If anyone has ever heard about or watched skiing it is probably alpine skiing. Alpine skiing is the most traditional and popular type of skiing. Some of the necessary pieces of equipment needed for skiing are, helmet, gloves, ski pants and jacket, goggles, ski poles, ski boots and bindings, and last but not least skis. There are ten alpine skiing events in the olympics they vary from Downhill and Slalom, to Moguls and Slopestyle. Alpine skiing has been around since about 600 BC in modern day China. Earlier skiers used one big pole or spear not two like modern day skiers. Until the mid 19th century skiing was only used for transportation, but since then it is mainly used as a recreational sport.
Sports play a very important role in my life ever since I could walk. My interests in playing sports began at the age of three as my parents signed me up for soccer, flag football, basketball, and lacrosse. First grade started my competitive edge as I began to play for travel teams in various sport tournaments. This competitive edge transferred from the sports field to the classroom having teachers and coaches helping me be the best I can be. Sports have continually well-shaped and defined my character by teaching me how to accept a win from working hard, also how a loss is an opportunity to learn and fix mistakes.

Most children who have played a team sport at some time have character traits found in highly successful adults.
Sports have always been a vast part of American culture. We give our babies different sports items to play with. From the time they can walk they have sports pushed on them. If you go to any store to buy toys for children you can find all sorts of different sports items for kids. Many parents push these sports items on their child hoping that they will be the next phenom in the world of sports. Who wouldn’t want this for their child? Athletics can open up all types of opportunities. It can pay for college and if they happen to play at the professional level they will be making vast amounts of money. Although sports can be great are these parents pushing their kids to hard? No matter if there are some detrimental aspects to sports there is always the positive of the life lessons that can be learned.
