Epilogue to Huckleberry Finn

When Huck said there wasn’t anything more to write about anymore, he lied. It wasn’t until after the adventure he took to the “Injun Territory”, with Jim and Tom Sawyer, that he returned home. He had vowed to let Aunt Sally “civilize” him for a year, in respect for all he and Tom put her through. Huck tried his best living the life of a gentleman. However, he felt the freest with the uncertainty of where the river would take him next.
Huck, Jim and Tom Sawyer spent the following two months on the Phelps’s farm, thanks to the generosity of Aunt Sally and Uncle Silas. They took the time to find a job and earn enough money to buy a larger, sturdier raft, and to stock up on food and supplies. Jim couldn’t find as much work as the rest of the gang, so he spent his free time reading stories about the Indians and painting pictures of what he could remember about his childhood. It took longer than anticipated to earn enough money for all the goods that would last them through a 2-month journey. Huck secretly stashed away some of his earnings, knowing that with Tom onboard they would be on the river for a lot longer.
On a warm, sunny morning, the gang set out on their greatest adventure yet. As they pushed themselves off land and sailed into the glistening waters ahead, you could make out a name on the side of the raft, that Jim must have painted on. It read The Mary Jane.
One month into their adventure, all seemed well. The heat was bearable, the food was still fresh, and they were almost across the Arkansas border, into Oklahoma. Jim awoke to the sound of gunshots across the river, on a small island, with each building made out of wood. He saw four men, three with guns and one with a cannon, shooting off their weapons. With the br...

That night Tom and Huck snuck up to the shed at the boatyard where Jim was being held. Tom took his rifle, in case the old man was there, and Huck brought a slim jim, to pick the lock on the shed door. They hopped the fence, ran to the back door of the shed, and broke in like a gang of burglars. Once inside, they found Jim, armed with a rusty shovel, posed and ready for escape. At the sight of his companions, he dropped his weapon with a sense of relief. On the way out, Huck and Jim grabbed the best raft they could find and carried it to the water, while Tom, of course, supervised. IN no time at all, the raft was packed, the gang leapt aboard, and they were headed downstream towards the horizon.
