“Antonio, have you seen my nephew, your son anywhere?” Leonato asked hurriedly. “He is most likely taking care of the music right now, that is what I saw him doing last. I do however have something to tell you that may or not shock you.” Antonio exclaimed in an excited but quiet voice, making sure no one heard him. Leonato adjusted his body to a more calm pose as his nephew was, in fact, taking care of the music so he had nothing to worry about. “And what is this that you wish to tell me?” He asked in a curious, shrill tone. “Well, how do I put this, a servant of mine was strolling through the orchard and heard Claudio and Don Pedro, the prince of Aragon discussing their love for your daughter, more specifically, the prince’s love, there is apparently a plan for the prince to ask her out during the ball tonight.” a smile spread across Leonato’s face, he obviously could not hide the excitement that overcame him.“Are you sure your servant heard him …show more content…
correctly.?” “I am positive.” Noticing his brother’s excitement, Antonio stepped forward and embraced Leonato as the tears of joy fell from his face temporarily staining the white carpet a shade of grey as the moisture seeped into the material.
“Would you like me to fetch the servant that made me aware of this revelation so you can see for yourself?” Leonato sat down on the leather couch behind him as he could no longer bare the weight of his body on his legs as all of his focus was on the revelation at hand. “No, it’s all good, just think of it as something that never happened because if we take it as something that will definitely happen and it doesn’t it will break everyone’s hearts.” Antonio’s face drooped as he considered what had just been said.
“Are you questioning the integrity of my loyal servants?” he demanded in a tone that sounded almost angry, the sound bouncing around the high, marble walls creating an echo. “No, not at all, I would never do such a thing, I am just preparing for the worst, they may have been speaking of something else or he may have misheard, that is all.”he argued, trying to prevent any oncoming arguments that may have arisen from such a comment although in truth he was in fact questioning the integrity of his servants. “Don’t you think we should tell Hero just incase the information we got was correct, we don’t want her stumbling to find an answer and a way to word such answer on the spot, she should be forewarned and have time to prepare.” “Very well, we’ll tell her soon, the ball grows near, we must tell her before the ball or there will be no point, which gives us” “two hours” Antonio abruptly but uncertainly interjected as he studied the shadow produced by the sundial in the middle of the room, the light flooding in from the giant glass windows towering over them, the marble walls being topped with glass creating an unnecessarily bright light coming from the sky. Obviously annoyed at being interrupted, but not enough to stop his cheerful mood set in motion by the information previously presented to him. “ let’s get going then, she will need time to process the information and prepare something to say. The two men strode along at a steady pace, one trying significantly harder to keep up due to a difference in height, out of the hall in which they were previously talking; continuing to discuss what they would tell hero.

The story begins with the Marquise de Merteuil corresponding with Vicomte de Valmont regarding a luscious new act of ‘revenge’, as she describes it, against the Comte de Gercourt. The young Cecile de Volanges has just come home from the convent and her marriage to Gercourt has been arranged. However, before he can wed the innocent child, Merteuil proposes Valmont ‘educate’ her, thus spoiling Gercourt’s fancy for untarnished convent girls. Valmont is uninterested in such an easy seduction and is far more aroused by the thought of lulling The Presidente’ de Tourvel, the very epitome of virtue, into submission. And so the tale unfolds.
The comedy, “Much Ado About Nothing” depicts the story of a group of high-ranking soldiers who travel through a town called Messina. They had been to the town before, and this time Claudio confesses his love for the governor’s daughter, Hero. Because Leonato is so fond of Claudio, the wedding is set to be a few days away. This gives Don John, Claudio’s bastard brother, a chance to show his true hatred for Claudio. He comes up with a scheme to make Claudio think that Hero is cheating by dressing Margaret in her clothing and perching her near the window with another man. When Claudio sees this, he says that he will humiliate Hero instead of marrying her.
First of all, in Much Ado about Nothing, Claudio was a young soldier who fell in love with Hero at his first sight. At the beginning of the play, they looked like the perfect match in audience’s eyes because Claudio was a good soldier and had returned as a hero from battles; On the other hand, Hero was a young, beautiful, and virtual maid. However, after the first time meeting with Hero, Claudio’s first question about her is on the inheritance of her father’s wealth. After knowing Hero was the only heir of Leonato, Hero’s father, Claudio asked Don Pedro, the good Prince...
The attraction of a man to a woman, albeit mainly off of looks, is a common occurrence, and is most often recently labeled “a crush”. A portrayal of this has been revealed in the character Claudio’s love for Hero in “Much Ado about Nothing”. Several proofs which support for this theory are the manner in which Claudio talks about her, the style he treats her in, and the viewpoints of others in regard to his feelings. In conclusion, Claudio had the equivalent of a modern day “crush”. But in the end, it seems as if one of his main problems could be described with another modern term; “late
One of the first things that Lord Angelo does after taking over for the Duke is to enforce the already existing rules upon the people. Lord Angelo seems to view himself as a bit more of a disciplinarian than the Duke. Unfortunately, it is Isabella’s brother, Claudio, who Angelo makes an example out of for the entire town. Claudio has slept with his longtime girlfriend Juliet. Juliet is now pregnant and the entire town knows of their “sin.” Lord Angelo wants the town to know that this type of behavior is unacceptable and summons Claudio to be killed. Claudio quickly calls for his loving and pious sister Isabella to come and vouch for him ...
Fermina Daza was raised in an environment where women’s success is based on her ability to marry a man of honor and monetary value. She is expected to be brought up in this manner by a fellow female or mother; however Fermina’s mother died when Fermina was very young, thus her father, Lorenzo Daza, an illiterate mule trader, was left to take on the role. Márquez identifies Lorenzo’s motives and expectations for Fermina as he states, “When [Lorenzo Daza’s] wife died, he had set only one goal for himself: to turn his daughter into a great lady.” His emphasis on his one goal for Fermina infers that he did not necessarily have the to intentions to build or establish a communicative relationship with his daughter. He wanted better for Fe...
...in knowing what behavior was expected of a noble and his lord in medieval Spain. It is clearly evident that the attributes of commitment to one's lord, giving auxilium, and rendering consolium were expected of all proper rulers. The Poem can be seen as a morality play in which the Cid constantly strives to be a good and proper lord to his followers and a good and proper vassal to King Alfonso, only to be failed by those above him.

In this essay I intend to explore the ways that William Shakespeare has presented the relationships between the main characters within his play “The Tempest”. I shall investigate Ferdinand and Miranda’s relationship, the father/daughter bond between Miranda and Prospero and Caliban’s lust after Miranda.
Situational irony and the love triangle give big laughs to the viewers. The audience becomes engrossed as they observe Violas transformation into Cesario, the Duke’s servant. Suspense is built as Viola begins to realize that she is falling in love with Duke Orisno, but in order for her to survive; she has to keep pretending to be a man and is unable to reveal her love. The irony settles in when Orisno, asks his close servant Cesario to go to Olivia and make her understand how deeply he loves her. Shakespeare shows her helplessness in this situation because she has to help her love, try to woo someone else. The irony builds into a love triangle as Olivia begins to fall in love with Cesario as “he” loved Orisno. Olivia’s love is confirmed when she says “Yet come again, for thou perhaps mayst move that heart, which now abhors, to like his love” (III.i.153).
Shakespeare highlights three of Portia’s suitors, the Prince of Morocco, the Prince of Arragon and Bassanio. He does this to heighten dramatic tension, as these three men are the most important candidates to win Portia’s hand in marriage. They reveal the contents of the three caskets and their different characters as exposed as being proud, vain and humble. They also emphasise the racial prejudices of Venice a place where many races clash. Their attitudes towards the caskets and their choices indicate what their character is like. This essay will compare and contrast the three suitors and will explore how Shakespeare influences the audience’s attitudes towards the three men.
