ENVIRONMENT PROBLEMS OF DHAKA(BANGLADESH)
Now a days environmental conditions of Dhaka is not in equilibrium.Air ,water and noise pollution are very dangerous for human health, ecosystem and economis growth of Dhaka.Environmental degradation of Dhaka is also caused due to poverty , overpopulation, and lack of awareness in the people of Dhaka .
The protection of environment has become a major issue for the well being and economic development of the city.
MAJOR ASPECTS OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS
AIR POLLUTION
Air pollution is a serious hazard affecting the population of Dhaka.Air pollution of Dhaka is due to:
• Increase in population and associated motorization.
• Indoor air pollution(biomass fuel during cooking).
• Outdoor air pollution(industrial

ARSENIC CONTAMINATION OF WATER
The most threatening problem of environmental degradation is arsenic contamination of ground water.Dhaka people uses ground water as main source of drinking but the water is thraeened by arsenic contamination.More than half of the population is using 70 times higher arsenic contaminated water than standard.Standard acceptable level of arsenic in water is 0.05 mg/l.
NOISE POLLUTION
Noise pollution is also major cause of environmental problem of Dhaka.according to WHO(world health organization) 60db of sound can make a man deaf temporarily and 100 db can cause complete deafness.
Main causes of noise pollution are;industries, vehicles, construction works and
Indiscriminate use of loudspeaker.Present noise level of Dhaka is from 60 to 100 db and if this situation continues 50% of people will lose 30 db of hearing
Pollution is causing the destruction of environments and habits resulting in many adverse affects. The types of environments that are heavily damaged by pollution is normally freshwater ones. Polluting factors such as untreated sewage, mining waste, acid rain, fertilizers and pesticides
Although level noise do not reach OSHA level (occupational safety & health administration) that causes noise-induced hearing loss, the paediatric nurse in the unit are exposed to continuous moderate noise levels that may causing impairment (Berens, 2008). In addition, these noise exposures may result in abnormalities in the stress response as well as in sleep patterns. (Berens, 2008). If working long shifts weekly and being exposed to noise it will have an effect on hearing loss. The loss of hearing depends on how loud the sound is and the length the person is exposed to sound. Exposure to high level of noise and sound can cause deafness. During or after being exposed to loud noise can leave a ringing sound in the ear. Noise will interfere with communication which could lead to misunderstanding of orders. This could lead to a higher risk of accidents when communication is
Harmful noises are everywhere. “The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) reports that approximately 30 million Americans are exposed to daily noise levels that will likely lead to hearing loss” (Daniel, 2007, p. 226). Excessive noise exposure can lead to permanent hearing loss, tinnitus, poor communication abilities, and reduced self-esteem; however, it can be prevented in many situations. This paper will discuss how much noise exposure can occur before it becomes hazardous, the long-term effects of noise exposure at an early age, and the primary reasons why preventable socioacousis occurs.
There are many kinds of air pollution. The ones I want to talk about are the ozone, acid rain, carbon monoxide and toxic air contaminants. Ozone is formed when hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxide react in sunlight. Therefore, ozone is at its peak during hot summer days. Exposure to high levels of ozone can have serious consequences on your health. It can cause respiratory disease, loss of pulmonary elasticity, and premature aging of our lungs. Next, is acid rain, which occurs in the atmosphere in the form of sulfur and nitrogen oxide. These pollutants can have serious damaging affects on aquatic, forest and wildlife ecosystems, as well as deterioration of buildings. Carbon monoxide is another form of pollution. It reduces the blood?s ability to carry oxygen. If a human is exposed to higher levels, it can cause chest pains, angina attacks or even death.
Air pollution is caused by many things such as car fumes, burning of fossil fuels,
Over the past few years, climate change, plastic pollution, acid rain, and the interlinked nature of these challenges have brought much concern of many researchers and environmentalists. In a post-modern society, we have created a lot of environmental issues with global impacts because our environment has begun to be treated as an unlimited field full of abundant resources for groups and organizations with the power and skills to acquire them. Though many news and social media often underline the consequences of disturbing ecosystem and the significances of respecting the environment, but as more people cluster together in large metropolitan areas today, there are fewer opportunities for them to explore the city environment. Consequently, people do not have enough environmental awareness, and this could make the environmental challenges become even harder to cope with in the future. Hence, it is extremely vital to have environment education since it can help people to
The pollutants involved in poisoning water resources in Bhutan are chemical waste produce from industries like automobile workshop and factories into river contaminating it with those waste and creating river pollution and risking the life aquatic species and also due change is pattern of human consumption producing more solid waste and dumping in There will growth of water born diseases increasing health hazards and degradation of environment and ecosystems. This affects the natural environment system leading to exaction of some species. And the due contamination of water can also lower the production of agriculture products and other economy activities will decrease. If there will more water bodies pollution it also has negative effects on its environment there decline of economy of the country. Since more of the country budget have invest on the health sectors.
The Negative Effects of Urbanization on People and their Environment As our world becomes increasingly globalized, numerous people travel to urban areas in search of economic prosperity. As a consequence of this, cities in periphery countries expand at rates of 4 to 7 percent annually. Many cities offer entrepreneurs the potential for resources, labor, and resources. With prosperity, cities also allow the freedom of a diversity of ways of life and manners (Knox & Marston, 2012). However, in the quest to be prosperous, increasing burdens are placed on our health and the condition of our environment.
...ffects on human health. These have high negative effects on low income areas, as a result of pollution, visual, oral and air, as well as high levels of overcrowding. The World Health Organisation predicts that in the next 30years most of the world’s population growth will occur in cities and towns of poor countries. This rapid, unplanned and unsustainable pattern of urbanisation, is creating cities into focal points for environmental and health hazards (World Medical Association, 2010).
The protection of the environment however has just recently become the major issue that it is in today’s society. People worldwide have slowly begun to realize and become aware of the blatant destruction and deterioration of the environment and ozone. As well as the consequences and side affects, that we, as a society have created. The majority of people are just becoming aware of the frightening reality of the situation. As society becomes more informed on the issue of the environment, they too become more impatient, and feel that in the snap of fingers, the damage can be reversed and future damage can be stopped instantaneously.
Air Pollution is when a poisonous or a harmful substance is released in the air. There are many form of pollution but air is one of them, it only occurs when dust, harmful gases or smoke enters into the atmosphere and makes it hard for species like plants, animals and humans to live in a difficult situation because of the dirty air.Air Pollution is classified in two sections, invisible air pollution and visible air pollution.. Hence any substance that makes it difficult for the living things that need the atmosphere is air pollution.Humans have been undergoing air pollution ever since the industrial revolution. In order to understand the causes of Air pollution, it is divided into divisions. Primary air pollutants and secondary air pollutants:
Every other day a new industries are being set up, new vehicles on roads and trees are being cut to make way for new homes. All of them, indirect way lead to increase in CO2 leads to melting of polar ice caps which increase the sea level and pose danger for the people living near coastal areas. Pollution can have an impact in our health not only affects people with impaired respiratory system such as asthmatics, but very healthy adults and children too. Exposure to pollution for 6 to 7 hours, even at relatively low concentrations, reduces lung function and induces respiratory inflammation and, healthy people during periods of moderate
Air pollution is a type of pollution that can severely damage our environment as well as the earth’s atmosphere. Air pollution occurs all the time when the air contains many substances ...
Pollution is a massive problem that the earth faces. Pollution is the action or process of making land, water, air, etc…, dirty and not safe or suitable to use. Pollution of air, water, and soil are the most complex issues. Various types of gases and toxins that are released by industries
Pollution is so harmful to human beings. Polluted water can cause many kinds of diseases, such as diarrhea, enteritis, and so on. And sometimes the diseases even take man’s life. Dirty air or air-borne garbage causes stinging eyes and running nose. Pollutants are destructive. They will cause runs in stockings and crack rubber tires and they always eat away at stone and rust iron. Time and time again, there are serious accidents that polluted the air. For example, At 1986 there was a bad accident at a nuclear power station in Russia. A cloud of radiation crossed the whole Europe. It is said that 125,000 people died in Russia as a result of illnesses caused by that accident. In 1984 there was an accident at a factory in India and a dangerous cloud gas covered the town of Bhopal. Over 2,500 people were killed that night, and hundreds and thousands of people were injured. Many of the injured lost their sight, and it really dangerous, even in our imagination.
