The stories that leave an impact on a person’s life normally make the reader or listener feel the strongest emotions. Whether that be a feeling of joy, admiration or intrigued all depends on the purpose of the story. A story that inspires or pushes the reader to think is entertaining to a point, without the ability to keep the reader engaged they would not have payed attention long enough to be inspired. The difference between a story that inspires and teaches and one that merely entertains is nothing.
Any story that has the ability to inspire someone has three aspects, entertainment, a deep underlying meaning, and pieces of story that are relatable. Similar things can be said about an entertainers skit or a standup comedians act. Sam spade a detective for hire helps who he think sis an innocent girl follow a man named Mr. Thornsby, She accuses her sister of running away with. Later down the road Archer who was tasked with finding Mr. Thornsby and his target are found dead. Leaving Sam as the main culprit since he thought best to leave out the young lady’s name who required help. One can only imagine that the detective feels on some scale or another the feeling of resentment. Having done what he thought was best in the interest of the young lady who was thought to be innocent might have him questioning her origins. The story at this moment is conveying the message of “everything is not what it seems to be”. Although this story was meant to teach, it had the ability to sustain its self only as a form of entertainment due to its deep meaning and plot twist. As do comedic acts they have some of the deepest hidden meanings. Others may think of entertainment stories of being shallow but they are sometimes just a complex if not more than stories that are meant to
