English 1303: My First Ever College English Class

English 1303 was my first ever college english class. I had many expectations in my mind regarding the class. First of all I hoped I would make new friends. Since the first day of class I got to knew every classmate very well. Secondly I expected to learn new vocabulary. Fortunately, we had vocab boost activity which helped me learn new words and improve my writing and speaking skills. Other expectations that I had with this class were using what I've learnt here and applying the skills to my other classes such as learning the new MLA8 format was helpful for me in my government and FYS classes.

I have learned so much from this class that I can easily use those skills in my other classes and in future. The most helpful part in this class was

the vocab boost activity which helped my my essay writing skills. Extra points for using each word in essays was a motivation for me to use more words in my writng overall. The work in this class that I'm most proud of was the best essay presentation, because I felt like I was really connected with the issue, and that helped me create a good presentation for the class.
Thinking of the pre-mortem we did at the beginning of the semester. I feel like the result came out as I wanted it to be. In the pre-mortem I mentioned few reasons that could possibly come in my way throught the semester to lead me towards failure. First reason was poor time management. This reason somehow effected my grade, but luckily by the mid semester I changed my time schedule and was able to get back on track. Another reason I wrote that could lead my to failure was getting distracted by friends. This reason didn't really effected my grades because since the beginning of the semester I decided to decrease the amount of time I spent socially. As of now of happy with what I have achieved and hope to continue to same stretagy in the future.
In the end, I would like to give an advice to the future incoming freshmen who are scheduled for this class. First, know how to manage time, we know that some classes are easy, and some are hard, but you have to give each class the same time. Secondly, keep a balance between academics and social life. In the early stages of college it is very easy for any one to get distracted by their friends. Finally, enjoy the classes you choose, and have planned about what you want to do with your career.
