Engineering plays vital role in improving society and there are many ethical and moral issues that engineering and computer science professionals will face like the medical, legal and business professions. It is important to understand how to contemplate these issues and increase moral autonomy. Engineering ethics is not only teaching moral behavior knowing about immoral and amoral in a set of beliefs, but also increasing the ability of engineers and other professionals to face boldly with the moral problems arising from technological advancements, changes and other related activities.

So, it is necessary for an engineer to pay attention on both of the approaches by having a careful study of how they affect them professionally and personally. The engineers have to tolerate themselves with the everyday problems both from personal and societal point of view.

The term ‘morality’ concerns with (a) what ought to be or ought not to be done in a given situation, (b) what is the right or wrong in handling it, (c) what is the good or bad about the persons, policies and principles involved in it. Ethics are the principles that shape individual lives in modern society. It is a subjective idea that seems to have a standard in society. Ethics and morals are the major factors that guide individuals to make right and wrong choices. Something that is morally right to one person might be the very opposite of what another person would view as right. There are many factors that can trigger a change in an individual’s view of morality.
To clarify, the Engineering Code of Ethics is the set of rules established by the National Society of Professional Engineers that all engineers are expected to adhere to. In essence, the fundamental tenets of this code are that all engineers are expected to prioritize public safety, as well as be honest with their clients and the general public while only doing work that they are qualified to do. (“Code of Ethics,” n.d.). The reason this code is crucial in this case is because it offers guiding principles for the men and women who are in charge of so many of the various structures and buildings that are used by everyone in society. If the engineering population were to fail to adhere to this code, many people’s lives would be put in jeopardy; buildings might crumble, planes may crash, and bridges could collapse. This means that this code serves to keep engineers in check so that the world maintains stability, therefore its importance cannot be emphasized enough. In my opinion, this article was included in the code of ethics by engineers because it is unfair that a particular person/company gain advantage over others. It is also dishonorable in the engineering profession and not only unfair to other engineers/companies but also to the public. When violating this article, there is also potential of violating others which can result in further problems and more severe discipline. Corruption is a very serious matter and should be brought to light in all other professions, not just engineering in an effort to maintain law and order. This article is an important component of an overall strategy and should not be eliminated. In some areas of the world this article is not enforced or the government is already too corrupt and nothing is done regarding this issue. Ethics is the moral behavior that guides our actions; it motivates us in our personal behavior and is relevant in a business setting as well. Many organizations have set forth a set of guidelines known as a “Code of Ethics”. The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, being one of these organizations, has set forth their code as a requirement for students and engineer members to adhere to. Heading towards a career in electrical engineering I choose this organization to elaborate on for my ethics project.
Ethics are moral principles or values that govern the conduct of an individual or a group.It is not a burden to bear, but a prudent and effective guide which furthers life and success. Ethics are important not only in business but in academics and society as well because it is an essential part of the foundation on which a civilized society is built.

Virtue ethics, which was systematized by Aristotle, helps define what it means to have a good life and what kind of person you should be in your life. While virtues have applications throughout your daily life and in many different professions, they are particularly relevant in engineering. Successful engineers need to reflect many different virtues in their actions, including being intelligent and hardworking. This paper defines Aristotle’s virtue ethics and how it is specifically applicable to engineers.
Engineering ethics focuses on the behavior of the individual - the engineer, and the development of ethical standards governing their professional activities. Engineering ethics has always existed as a set of rules or a system that governs the behavior of an engineer.
