How energy drinks affect our body?
Energy drinks, as a special-purpose drinks which is to supplement the energy our body needed. Energy drinks are often connected to sport that involve physical activities and people’s health. When I finish playing basketball and I need a quick refresh, energy drinks always are the good choice, such as Gatorade, red bull, monster drinks and so on. They are very tasty and really can help people quench their thirst. Chemistry played a fundamental role in here in which all the energy drinks are chemical compounds.
The reason why we think energy drinks are better than water is because after our intense exercise, our bodies will produce a large amount of heat, and our body often through perspiration
in order to achieve the purpose of cooling. The main component of sweat is water, but also contains a small amount of potassium, sodium, calcium, and other inorganic salt. In the situation that the body is loss too much water, if we don’t supplement timely, it will cause water shortage, and lack of water will cause the body temperate rises, increasing the workload of the cardiovascular system, and reduce the exercise capacity. This time, water cannot solve the problem since a lot of drinking will dilute the electrolytes in the blood which will cause dizziness, nausea, and weakness, know as waster intoxication. So energy drinks become a good choice. Its principle of complementary energy: after people consume energy drinks, the vitamins in the beverages (generally vitamins B) and sugar in interaction will transformed into energy we needed which these are similar to our body fluids and it can be more rapidly absorbed by the body, replenish our body due to the loss of water and electrolytes (salt), in order to achieve the purpose of supplement strength and relieve fatigue. The image below shows six different energy drinks that we normally drink everyday, and tells us that how much sugar in each beverage and how much calorie it contain.
It has long been established that both short and long-term exercise increase metabolic rate and heat production. This naturally predisposes participants to dehydration. Typical symptoms of dehydration include elevated temperature, fluid and electrolyte imbalance due to sweating, and loss of critical nutrients, such as glycogen (depleted via metabolic pathways). Many individuals participating in moderate to rigorous training schedules may engage in daily exercise, if not multiple exercise routines in one day (3,4,5,6). It then follows that the goal for these individuals should be avoidance of dehydration and maximization of rehydration through maintenance of electrolyte balance, replenishment of muscle glycogen, and plasma osmolality. Thus, examination of a fluid’s efficacy in these three areas is crucial. Through extensive research, it is evident that Gatorade will rehydrate faster and more effectively than water.
...ble in a Gatorade bottle but these are the most important ones. The most chemistry that is present in sports drinks and in this case, Gatorade, is seen through the electrolytes. In a nutshell electrolytes are substances that are soluble in water and after being completely dissolved, they give ions. Our body consists of Cation and Anion electrolytes which are nutritionally referred to as Macrominerals. As stated before the balance level of electrolytes is every crucial for the human body, and if imbalanced the person can have serious and life threatening issues. But the only way to restore our electrolytes level is by consuming these sports drinks, so this is the main reason as for why even though the sports drinks have some negative aspects to them they are one of the cheapest and easiest ways a person can get the required electrolytes for their body.
Drinks that do not have a metabolic energy source can give off increased energy by adding other factors to it. For example, caffeine may give the perception of energy being increased if you add sugar to it. That sugar is absorbed by the blood and breaks down the bonds of glucose, going through cellular respiration process. This helps the releasing of energy to the body, helping drinks that contain no metabolic energy sources.
Through this evidence, Gatorade is the most essential drink on the planet when it comes to revitalizing and replenishing the body. This is why top athletes in professional sports endorse and use this produce. The commercial for Gatorade ask “Is it in you?” Gatorade and other numerous sports drinks have become a very important part of today’s sports market, and it seems to be with good reason. Research has confirmed that for the most part, the claims made by companies such as Gatorade about the effectiveness of their sports drinks are true. Gatorade is a useful sports drink.
To find the answer we performed an experiment. We decided to put the drinks to the test by exercising, and then seeing how well we shoot 10 free throws. But after we exercised we drank either Powerade or Gatorade. We would then collect data, analyze it, and ultimately find out which drink is more effective. When I finished working out on Day 1, I drank Gatorade. I made 8/10. On Day 2, I drank Powerade after exercising and shot 7/10. And since the results were very similar I decided I would exercise and shoot 10 more on Day 3. But instead of drinking a sports drink I just drank water. I made 7/10. This data was very interesting. It shows Gatorade improved performance more, but nothing really stood out. So unless you plan on running a marathon or other strenuous athletic tasks, it will not really matter if you drink Powerade or Gatorade. Our experiment even showed, no matter how many fancy sports drinks come out, water is always a very reliable option when it comes to regaining lost

China has embarked on a rapid economic growth specifically in urban areas which has resulted on booming consumer market for high end good and services. People of China would account for 20% of global luxury goods for as early as 2015 which will be a huge $27 billion. By 2020, Chinas middle class is expected to burgeon to 45% of the population which would be nearly 700 million people. These reasons make China a very lucrative target market for luxury drink makers like ours. This well documented growth of disposable income amongst Chinese consumers puts forth a very advantageous space in the regional market as global beverage manufacture. An in-depth research on Chinas fastest growing soft drinks from 2010-2013 gives a strong signal that with right kind of marketing and featuring beverages with a targeted function can lead to exponentially growth. Our energy drink by Illy fits this bracket very nicely. Illypower has a narrow focus and gives the prospective consumers a drink with a function rather than the flavour alone. It is full of anti-oxidants and is made from recyclable coffee capsules used in making coffee in our Illy’s Italian coffee manufacturing plant.
