Allowing children to play games, such as imaginary war, or a lifelike video game such as Call Of Duty, is both a good thing and a bad thing in our society. The games teach the children how to use self defense, yes. However, they are still children and should be treated as such and should be able to live their life as innocently as possible. The real world is a cruel place and when children are still in the oblivious state of what is really going on around, we should let them stay that way for as long as possible. However, the children do need to know how to survive, in any case of emergency it is better to know the basics rather than know nothing at all. For example, in the novel “Ender’s Game” the main character is a six year old boy who is in a world where war is one of the most well-known things in their society. In this society, children are raised to be able to fight and survive and have no true childhood other than what they have to learn in order to survive in a worse case scenario. outside and playing like what we consider normal children in our society. However, in a situation of war or emergency these children know what to and not to do in order to survive. Furthermore, in countries such as Iraq or Afghanistan the children that live there grow up with nothing but violence and the need to learn how to survive on their own.
The children there don’t all have the chance to be a kid, from the minute they are able to walk and talk they are taught that they have to survive from then and until they die. The kids over there can’t play freeze tag or swing on the swing sets, or go out and have play dates with the other kids in their town. Children overseas have seen war and seen their families have to leave them. These children also have to go fight themselves, whether it be because of religion or just for the sake of them hopefully surviving. The children going into war at such a young age is terrible, and even some adults can’t even begin to imagine what the children would and have seen. No child should have to see things that even adults can’t see
themselves. In the article “Videogames and Children: Playing with Violence” by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, it talks about how children who play more violent games often imitate the violence that was in the game and show more aggressive behavior. The article states, “Younger children and those with emotional, behavioral or learning problems may be more influenced by violent images,” meaning that eclectric children who have an easier way of allowing the game to influence could possibly act out in violent ways. However, the article also states, “Some video games may promote learning, problem solving and help with the development of fine motor skills and coordination,” which is true and can be scientifically proven. The violence in the video games teaches kids how to deal with a problem in a stressful situation and how to assess the problem in a calm and well thought process. Even though the video games with violent content can cause some problems for some people, it is helpful for learning new things and getting better at handling problems. In conclusion, even though violence isn’t particularly something children should do on a daily basis, they should still know the basic ways of survive. Knowing what to do in stressful situations can help the children and even the adults in case of panic or a serious problem. However, children should still be monitored in what they do to make sure that the violent images that they may be seeing doesn’t affect them in a harmful way and that they are all safe. Overall children do need to be introduced to some violence to a certain extent, but they are still children and should be treated as so and not forced into anything that isn’t really benefiting them.

However, through his journey, he experiences manipulation and deception from significant figures that surround his life. This deceit from Colonel Graff, Valentine, and Mazor Rackham is focused on defeating the buggers in the Third Invasion.
In Ender’s Game, by Orson Scott Card, we see the life, struggles, and choices of Ender Wiggin. After reading the book, we as the readers can interpret what we believe the book was meant to accomplish in terms of the moral questions it raises. Some believe that Card wrote the book as a self-serving justification of Enders actions. However, I believe that the story is not a justification of Enders actions, but instead an illustration of the abuse and mistreatment of a young child.
“Ender’s Game is an eye opening book with unique conflicts. The two major conflicts are internal, being that of how Ender was mentally broken down, and external,being that of the “Bugger” Human war. Ender’s Game written by Orson Scott Card introduces Andrew Wiggin best known as Ender Wiggin an innocent child created for selfish reasons. Ender didn’t belong in the society around him, because he wasn’t like his fellow peers and perhaps because he needed to be isolated to fulfill the needs of selfish people and for selfish purposes. Whose hands Ender ended up falling into when he was recruited to go to the Battle School. Ender played games throughout his life at the Battle School, he what he didn’t realize was that there was a bigger part to playing these games, but deception was the main thing on Enders mind, when he realized the truth behind them. Maybe he was just like his brother Peter; a cold blooded monster who tortured and killed the innocent just because he wanted to.

Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game expresses that general isolation causes the loss of childhood. In the novel, Ender’s isolation is caused by the hostile characters at the Battle School, the mind game and the removal of the monitor. All of these elements prevent him from getting close to others, resulting in isolation, also causing the loss of childhood.

He has been watched sine he was born, and has been selected to be the general of the army for the next war against the buggers, an alien life form that attacked earth seventy years earlier, but he doesn’t know it yet. Then he must fly up to a space station to learn how to lead the army at battle school. After making friends that help him command the starships under his control, he destroys the buggers home planet, but later does he realize that the buggers new queen had declared peace. Now Ender has dedicated himself to telling the Buggers story.

I read Ender’s Game, written by Orson Scott Card. In this novel, the main character is given the task of defeating an alien civilization that threatens the human race. Ender Wiggin is the main character in the book. He is a boy genius selected by the International Fleet to attend an elite school made to train future soldiers and commanders for the war. Ender becomes a mastermind of battle strategies and excels past all the other students at the academy. He is given seemingly impossible tasks by his instructors to prepare himself for the war. Ender is able to overcome the odds again and again to lead his armies to victory. His ultimate goal is to successfully propel the alien attack to save humanity.
The truth can change a person’s entire view of a situation. Actions done in the absence of truth will be different than that same action done knowing the whole situation. In both Ender’s Game and the Hunger Games there are very many lies told by the authoritative figures that drastically change how the main characters Ender and Katniss react. Although they do both get lied to and don’t know the entire outlay of the world, how they react in these situations can be much different. Just because each character is greatly betrayed with a false truth, doesn’t mean their actions will result in the same outcome.

Children living in areas and countries that are at war are seemingly always the ones being recruited into the armed forces. These children are said to be fighting in about 75 percent of the world’s conflicts with most being 14 years or younger (Singer 2). In 30 countries around the world, the number of boys and girls under the age of 18 fighting as soldiers in government and opposition armed forces is said to be around 300,000 (“Child Soldiers: An Overview” 1). These statistics are clearly devastating and can be difficult to comprehend, since the number of child soldiers around the world should be zero. Furthermore, hundreds of thousands adolescent children are being or have been recruited into paramilitaries, militias and non-state groups in more than 85 countries (“Child Soldiers: An Overview” 1). This information is also quite overwhelming. Child soldiers are used around the world, but in some areas, the numbers are more concentrated.

With a huge projected screen replacing my perspective of the world around me, I jumped right into the immersive experience of playing one of the most realistic war games on the market: “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2”. Inside a fiery world of smoke, smog, and tall abandoned houses, adrenaline rushed through my brain and tensed my body with excitement as I followed a team of nine through a maze of doorways and alleys. I quickly lost track of them and I hid at the end of a small dead alley while I waited for something to move or make a sound. The sounds of action were in the distant; but this bunker, which seemed like an ideal hiding place, caught my attention. When I was going to run towards the bunker, movement to my right made me jump; and with a terribly aimed shot, I fired the majority of a round from my machine gun at my target until I eventually shot and killed it. “Headshot” huge words flashed for a second in the middle of the screen making me hungry for my next kill. A child having this same immersive experience would get used to destructing all these monsters, and will ruthlessly learn to put everyone else aside and focus on themselves winning (MC 10). Children would become selfish as they venture into a virtual world where accumulating grenades and throwing them into mobs of people actually builds up a higher score. “There is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’–only success or failure” (MC 13). Because of the obscene immorality of video games, there should be a fresh genre of video games with unquestionable moral aspects.
