Comparison/Contrast Essay
Ender and Peter
In the Novel Ender’s Game written by Orson Scott Card, there is one boy who is born to save the world. His name is Ender Wiggin, he was born a third in the world where only two children are allowed per family. Ender’s older brother and sister, Peter and Valentine, where not what the government needed to save the world, so Ender was born hoping that he might be right in the middle of his siblings extremes. Peter is too violent, whereas Valentine has too much empathy and regret. Ender is the right combination between the two for the Battle School’s needs. Although both Ender and Peter have power, only Ender has respect; both boys are instinctive killers, but Peter relishes the act while Ender regrets the act after he does it; Both boys become heroes and develop control over people in different ways, and they both encounter many conflicts that were dealt with in similar and different ways. Peter and Ender were brothers so they were bound to have similar actions given their relation, but it depended on what they did with their action that set them apart from each other.

Effective or not…
Peter is quite similar to Ender in various ways. However, Peter is much quicker to violence than Ender. That is the the biggest differing factor between them. Everytime Peter gets angry he will rage and turn directly to violence. On the other hand Ender is no where near as violent as Peter. Ender tries everything he can to be completely different from Peter. Peter is the one person he never wants to become like. This is clearly exemplified thoroughly the entire book. On...

So they’d leave me alone.” (Card 19) The conflict for Peter had no positive effect, on the other hand These conflicts for Ender actually helped him, in the eyes of Colonel Graff.

In conclusion, once again the earth is under attack and all of humanity is threatened by destruction and their fate lies in the hands of only a kid, Ender.
