Everything in the world is connected in one way or another, Rebecca Adamson once said, "All things connect. What happens to the Earth happens to the children of the Earth. Human kind has not woven the web of life; we are but one thread. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves" ("Interconnection Quotes"). The way she explains how everyone and everything is connected to one another on Earth is both simple and the most complex idea to understand. In this essay you will see how someone like Emma Watson can eventually be connected to things such as shirts, California, religion, and feminism. Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson commonly known as, Emma Watson, was born April 15 1990. Emma Watson was born in Paris, France and moved to Oxfordshire, …show more content…
She had never done any other type of acting besides school plays before trying out for the role in the new movie. The author of the stories, J.K. Rowling, really liked Watson and fellow co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert and let them know soon after casting they had gotten the three main roles as best friends. Watson would be playing Hermione Granger, Radcliffe playing Harry Potter, and Rupert playing Ronald Weasley ("Emma Watson"). Watson played the role of Hermione Granger from 2001 - 2011, within the ten years she had filmed for all of the movies and accomplished many great things. The first papers the three actors signed for the parts didn't cover the last two movies. The actors took their time in deciding whether or not they would finish out he movies but in March of 2007 when Radcliffe signed for the Harry Potter role Watson followed up with signing for her part as Hermione Granger on March 23, 2007. ("Emma Watson"). All filming for the Harry Potter movies ended on June 12, 2010. Over the course of filming the movies Watson …show more content…
Also during the time of filming Watson earned many awards for acting, for the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban she was nominated for 5 awards and won youngest artist award for Leading Young Actress ("Emma Watson"). After the 2004 role in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban critics said they really enjoyed her part due to how well she played the part, Watson backed this by saying how she was "appreciative of the assertive role" and that "it was a fantastic role to play" ("Emma Watson"). Watson is also the youngest person to ever appear on the front cover of Teen Vogue Magazine. In the summer of 2011 Watson signed for a role in the movie The Perks of Being a Wallflower. In 2013 she achieved many more accomplishments, one being that she signed for a role in her very first comedy movie, This is the End. Emma a widely recognized novel written by Jane Austen, Clueless a modern movie adaption of the novel. Both focusing on the lives of privileged and wealthy girls who have limitless boundaries. Emma Woodhouse lives in nineteenth century England, whilst her counterpart, Cher Horowitz lives in modern and upscale Beverly Hills. The literary text, Emma, is set in a time that is culturally, socially and historically different to Clueless. Clueless is set in a time where plastic surgeries are a routine thing and replicating another person’s clothing is an offense punishable by intense social judgement. Whereas Emma is set in a time where being alone with a boy is seen as culturally wrong and marriages are usually only solely based on convenience depending on the social status and wealth of your partner. Prominent themes that enhance Heckerling’s purpose of transforming Emma into Clueless involve importance of class, wealth, marriage, relationships, self-development and transformation between the two characters.
One major difference in the movie that was not in the book was the starting scene of the movie was set in the moor with Sir Charles being attacked by the Hound. In the book the starting scene was when Watson and Holmes had just found a walking stick that had the initials C.C.H. on it. I think that the movie starting scene was more informative because it let you know about what was happening and it also gave some more suspense to the film.
“When I first saw Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, I exited the theater with an excruciating headache, a lingering sense of emptiness and a very strong desire to punch the film’s cinematographer,” (Ewing) which relates to the movie Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince which stars Daniel Radcliffe, Michael Gambon, Jim Broadbent, and directed by David Yates. In the sixth Harry Potter Saga, Harry goes to school, becomes obsessed with a mysterious book which belongs to the Half-Blood Prince, and goes on a dangerous mission to save himself in the end. Also, Harry tries to attempt to retrieve a memory of Professor Slughorn, which holds a major key to Voldermort’s downfall. Towards the end of the movie, Malfoy, Harry’s archenemy, secret mission is accomplished. The major critics I reviewed Roger Ebert, Amy Biancolli, Peter Travers, thought the movie accomplished many things and was great. On the other hand, James Blake Ewing did not like the movie at all. I agree with most of the critics and believed the movie went really well in the end.
It is known that not all films adaptations closely follow the novel that it is adapting. A lot of times film adaptations create something new and unique while still using novels to help. The 1995 film Clueless is an example of this as it used elements from Austen’s novel Emma. Clueless was released in theaters on July 19th 1005 and was directed and written by American director Amy Heckerling. In the film, Heckerling used characters and plot elements from Austen’s novel Emma while building something original and unique. William Galperin says that Emma’s courtship narrative is free standing throughout, whereas the story in Clueless focuses on language and fashion. Actress Alicia Silverstone plays the main character in Clueless
Ella Blake was born on May 4th, 2004 ( also known as Star Wars Day, May the Forth be with you.) in Rensselaer, Indiana. She first realized she had a gift for music when her sister, Ruby Blake, was in 6th grade and joined band. Ruby joined band and started playing the clarinet. Ella was only 7 or 8 at the time due to her sister being 4 years older, but Ruby introduced Ella to the instrumental world. She would ask Ella's opinion on how she was doing on a song and Ella would have to listen to her sister play and try to find sounds she didn't think we're supposed to be there. Around 3 years later Ruby entered high school and quit band, instead of doing marching band, but Ella's Older brother joined band that year. He plays
Characters breathe life into a story and they are the element that really allows the reader to connect to the story. When a story takes the journey from book to big screen, characters are twisted and manipulated to be less relatable and are sometimes assigned different character traits altogether. The one change in the Harry Potter series from book to movies that most angered the book fans is the character change seen in Dumbledore from the books to the movies, who became much more harsh and scary than he was portrayed as in the books. This is accentuated in the fourth movie, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. When Harry Potter is chosen as the fourth competitor for a wizarding competition that normally has three, many students and even professors
Change often spurs maturity, and such is the case in Jane Austen’s Emma. Emma’s life undergoes many changes, and Emma finds herself with new roles and responsibilities. Because of the new roles, Emma matures throughout the course of the novel.
Before the first Harry Potter film came out in 2001, many fans were worried that the unusual and distinctively English charms of JK Rowling's books would be lost in the journey from printed page to the big screen.
A movie that came out in 2002 was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. This movie was based off the best-selling novel, which was written in 1997 by J.K. Rowling, called Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. If you were to read this book and watch the movie you would find many differences, but the main difference between the two is that the book gives more information to the reader than the movie gives to the viewer. If someone was to watch the movie instead of reading the book, that person would not be able to have an accurate perception of the book because so many things in the book are changed in the movie or parts are left out of the movie completely. This is mainly because the book has more characters and chapters, which are able to keep the reader informed and interested. Still, the movie is shorter so that people who want a quick summary of the storyline can get it,
Adventure, mystery, and magic all go hand-in-hand when it comes to the Harry Potter series, written by J.K. Rowling. The books were adapted into films starting in 2001. The first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, was directed by Chris Columbus. The story of Harry Potter is magical as is however the movie needed a little extra magic. This extra magic needs to be added to the music.
Julie Andrews, one of the most recognizable names and beloved person in the performance industry, did not always have a practically perfect childhood or lifestyle. She had to overcome some obstacles and when she did, she used her melodic singing voice, impeccable acting, and witty personality to make one of the largest impacts a star could make on the world. Julia Elizabeth Wells, also known as Julie Andrews, was born on October 1, 1935, to Barbara and Ted Wells. She later took the name Andrews after her mother left her father and married a man named Ted Andrews. Julie was thrown into the music world from the time she was little because her mother preformed as a singer and her step-father
Someone once said “ everything in the world is actually connected. That means, even if we get separated, we’ll never be alone. ”the quotes saying that everything is connected and we won't ever be alone. Everything is connected in a way. I was able to connect all my 5 topics because they all have a connection somehow.
People are influenced by everything from jobs, music, fashion, certain people, even to different cultures. Chefs never seemed like the group of people one would expect to have an impact on the world, but they do. They change the way people see food and show that it is far more than just a way to stay alive it is sort of like a new way of life to say. There was one woman who changed the scene entirely, by graduating from the Parisian cooking school Le Cordon Bleu, publishing 19 books, airing 13 television shows, and having 8 DVD releases. Julia Child has been an inspiration for many cooks but has also influenced society as a whole while changing the way people thought about food and at the same time, revolutionizing the professional cooking industry for women.
...magination were put into the movies, and readers got to watch the real magic unfold right before their eyes. J.K. Rowling created her characters well thought out and easy to relate to. Do you relate to Neville, forgetful and shy, yet courageous? Or do you relate to Hermione, intelligent, tough and hardworking? Or even Severus Snape, menacing, yet cunning, brave and loyal? Anyone who reads Harry Potter can usually find a character in whom to relate. Most fans will agree with what Rowling once proclaimed, “Whether you come back by page or by the big screen, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home” (Rowling).
Emma is the main character in the novel. She is a beautiful, smart, and wealthy 21-year-old woman. Because of her admired qualities, Emma is a little conceited. She is the daughter of Henry Woodhouse. Since her mother died, Emma has taken the role of taking care of her father, who is old and often sick.
