On October 17, 1972, Eminem, aka Marshall Bruce Mathers III or Bruce, was born in St. Joseph, Missouri. Debbie Nelson was only 17 years old when she had Bruce, and almost died during labor. As an infant, Bruce's father left both him and his mother and moved California. Bruce had a troubled family life. Bruce, who was pale and blue eyed, entered into the Detroit rap scene as a competitor in rap battles. At that time, he was dating Kim Ann Scott and in 1995, they had a daughter named Hailie Jade Scott. With Hailie's birth, it inspired Eminem to make a living as a rapper. Raising newborn Hailie was a struggle and Bruce worked at a family-restaurant with little wage. He started to record music but it failed to make a profit. It also didn't attract more people than the local attention. About a year later, he released The Slim Shady EP. Dre discovered his music and was very impressed. Eminem worked with Dre for two years and released The Slim Shady LP. The heavily hyped record became very successful and three million copied were sold. Later that year, Eminem and Kim got married. After couple years of recording music and releasing albums, he was consumed by personal problems and recorded very little music for several years. Eminem and Kim divorced in 2000 and had an off-and-on relationship until they remarried in 2006. Several months after, they divorced again and began a very ugly public custody dispute over Hailie. Eminem began to slip more into alcoholism and addiction to sleeping pills. He overdosed and almost died in December of 2007. Eminem says, "If I would have got to the hospital two hours later, that would have been it." In 2008, he got rid of his addictions and recorded more music. He released several albums about his relapse and
The problem that laid in his way, was the social stigma at the time. In the early 90’s rap was dominated by the “gansta” rap scene. People like Tupac, Biggie and Dr. Dre ran the industry at that point and there was no room for Kanye and his pink polo. Kanye was seen as a producer first and foremost, since that’s what he was so good at and that’s all he had done up until that point. It wasn’t until the year 2000 that Kanye was brought onto Roc-A-Fella records with Jay-Z where his producing really started to shine. Helping produce Jay-Z’s 2001 album The Blueprint, the album was a huge success and lead to the revitalization of Jay-Z’s career. Kanye didn’t get a chance to make his own record until the following year (even though he had been working on it for almost 3 years now) when Roc-A-Fella finally gave him the go ahead. Kanye started his production of The College Dropout. It was also around this time that Kayne started a relationship with a girl named Alexis Phifer. Their relationship would be on and off again for the next few
While Eminem portrays himself as being from Detroit, he is actually from Missouri. He moved back and forth between Detroit, Michigan and Kansas City, Missouri for most of his childhood. At the age of seventeen, Eminem started getting serious about wanting to be a rapper, giving himself the nickname M&M (meaning Marshal Mathers) and later decided to change the spelling to Eminem with the second E backwards as part of his trademark. He failed 9th grade 3 times, then dropped out, “School wasn’t for me” (Eminem). An education was the last thing on his mind. After throwing himself into the rap world on many levels, usually being shut down, he kept trying.
Soon after doing this he began looking for a record deal as a solo artist. But Shawn just wasn’t getting lucky. It wasn't until a friend, Roc-A-Fella CEO Damon Dash, convinced him to form a record company with him that Jay-Z's career finally got off the ground. Jay-Z released his first single through Roc-A-Fella in 1995, "In My Lifetime." It was a hit in New York, and helped Dash secure a distribution deal for Jay-Z’s first album, “Reasonable Doubt.”
Kanye met Kim in 2004 while Kim was married to another man. They both dated other people until they got together in 2012. Kanye waited over 8 years to date Kim. He wrote a line in one of his famous songs “Cold” saying “And I’ll admit, I had fallen in love with Kim / Around the same time she had fallen in love with him.” ("Kanye West (Ft. DJ Khaled) – Cold")
Bruce, an “Old Father, Old Artificer,” uses his art form as a way of whitewashing his past memories and faults. The exclamation of the woman shows the extent her father has covered up the truth. He has put many unneeded items and decorations in the house, distracting people that visit. Alison likes things functional, while Bruce likes things very elaborate and over the top, not needed. These decorations have made people confused from what is there and what is not.

She gave birth to him 2 months after she was released from Women’s House of Detentions in Grenwich Village. Tupac was forced to drop out of the school because he had to move to California with his mother, where his criminal career began. He left his house at the age of 17 because of the continuous fights with his mother he then began selling/doing drugs, and was homeless for about 2 years. His life was spiraling down wards at a rapid rate. Till one day he got his big break. Tupac always dreamt about being famous someday, now his dream was becoming a reality. He struck a recording deal with Interscope records. He was on his way to super stardom, but as we all know with fame comes problems. He was involved in the shooting of two off duty police officers, although the chargers were later dropped. He was also convicted of rape, and sentenced to 5 years in Clinton Correctional Facilities.
Bruce runs a funeral home and restores his families old victorian home as a personal hobby and passion. Behind the “perfect” family facade you will find that Bruce is a deeply troubled man. This created issues in his marriage and caused him trouble connecting with his children. In this book we see how a child who is growing and developing is repeatedly subjected to rejection, outburst of anger, and isolation by her father and the effect it has on who she becomes. Like most heroes, Bruce’s thirst for justice was brought upon by a horrible act that that quickly brought upon his coming of age. Following a theatre performance with his parents Bruce, Thomas and his mother Martha found themselves walking down ‘Crime Alley’. There they were approached and mugged; in a valiant attempt to subdue their assailant Bruce witnessed both of his parents be brutally murdered at this hands of crime. As seen in some of the original comics it was at this time “Bruce Wayne learned the power of fear…” (Origins), this realization plays a vital role in the development of his alter ego Batman. With such a traumatic event unfolding before his eyes Bruce “swore an oath to rid the city of evil” (Origins), likely to prevent anyone from suffering the same kind of loss he did as a
