“I’m not afraid to take a stand, everybody come and take my hand we’ll talk thorough this together, through the storm, whatever weather cold or warm just letting you know that you’re not alone follow if you feel like you been down the same road” (Eminem) These lyrics from Eminem shows his life perfectly. Eminem is a great rapper who overcame trails in his childhood, broke the race barrier of rap music, and helps people get through life.
Eminem had a very bad childhood moving place to place, at school he would get beat by a bully. “The tormented nine year old Marshall Mathers began on Oct. 15, 1981, when he was the beset by a bully at the Dort Elementary School who split his lip and knock the wind out of him, according to court papers unveiled Monday by the smoking gun website” (Eminem Victim Bullying). Eminem would get beaten every day by this bully that the police had to come in. “As a result of that attack, Eminem’s mother Debbie claimed her son suffered a concussion and a loss of vision in one eye” (Eminem Victim Bullying).     Tupac Amaru Shakur was born on June 16, 1971 in New York City to Afeni Shakur, a Black Panther member since 1968. She gave birth to him 2 months after she was released from Women’s House of Detentions in Grenwich Village. She was charged with conspiracy to bomb several New York public locations and just had her bail revoked. In court she represented herself and won against the state of New York in a surprising turn out. In Incan dialect, his name Tupac Amaru means “shining serpent” and Shakur is Arabic for “thankful to God.” For most of his childhood his crack addicted mother shuffled Tupac between the ghettos of Harlem and the Bronx. Young Tupac began his performance career with the 127th Street Ensemble and then enrolled Baltimore School for the Arts where he was educated in ballet and acting. Tupac was forced to drop out of the school because he had to move to California with his mother, where his criminal career began. He left his house at the age of 17 because of the continuous fights with his mother he then began selling/doing drugs, and was homeless for about 2 years. His life was spiraling down wards at a rapid rate. Till one day he got his big break. Tupac always dreamt about being famous someday, now his dream was becoming a reality. He struck a recording deal with Interscope records. He was on his way to super stardom, but as we all know with fame comes problems. He was involved in the shooting of two off duty police officers, although the chargers were later dropped. He was also convicted of rape, and sentenced to 5 years in Clinton Correctional Facilities.

After being abandoned by his biological father, his mother was forced to take care of him on her own and survive in the crime infested community of Holly grove, New Orleans. Even though he divorced his mother and remarried, his father forced the two live with his own mother and came by to abuse Lil Wayne’s mother on a consistent basis.This situation went on for three years until Lil Wayne’s mother eventually remarried and relocated to a different part of town. Growing up he did very well in school. He was actually enrolled in his school’s gifted program at a point and received top grades. He got into music at a very young age and wrote his first rap song at the age of eight. Lil Wayne had the drive to be the best and successful at his craft since he first began. At the age of nine he was challenging others twice his age and older at rapping. He would consistently go to neighborhood parties or events to rap and most of the time he was better then whatever adult he was going against. As a testament to this, at the age of nine he start receiving attention from one of the two co-founders of his future label, Slim Williams. Growing up Tupac mother and some of his family were part of a group called Black Panther Party later their ideas became part of his songs and poems. Growing up and moving around New York as much as he did make him have a hard childhood. Tupac mother taught him about radical politics, other than that Tupac saw his mother struggle with substance abuse problem. Growing up was never easy for him he was shot 5 time during a mugging and the next year got sentenced to 4 and a half year for sexual assault. In the 80s Tupac and his family moved to California where he joined a hip-hop group and had a hit song. After their hit song Tupac decide to go solo where he did great. In 2010 he had sold over 75 million albums making him one of the best-selling rappers to ever have live. His songs and poems were about major topics not just nonsense, they were about violence and hardship in inner cities racism and other social problems. On September 7, 1996 he was shot many times by a drive by and ended up dying 6 days later, but he lived on thought his poems and music and people still can relate to the stuff he wrote.
