He means you don’t have to know music, you have to feel music. He didn’t know a lot about music but he became famous for it. His work has forever put it’s mark on the world for trying to break through the racial boundaries of music in this time period, but very few people can listen to his music and see that he was breaking these racial boundaries or have listen to his speeches and realize this world is not okay in the sense that people are still being racist against people and the kind of music people listen to. people are putting music with race and he decided to combined them.

Elvis Aaron Presley was born January 8, 1935, with his twin brother, Jessie Garon who was stillborn. Elvis grew up an only child and lived with his parents,Vernon

and Gladys Presley, in a two room house in Tupelo, Mississippi. Elvis started elementary school at East Consolidated School on Lake Street, then went to Milam Junior High School in eighth grade.

He and his parents moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1948 and he graduated from Humes High School there in 1953.Elvis’s musical infuence’s were pop, country, gospel music in church, all-night gospel sings, and black R & B on Beale Street as a teenager. Elvis began his singing career with the Sun Record Label in 1954. They sold his contract to RCA Victor, then that same year he became an enterentional sensation. Elvis was drafted into the the army in March 1958. He was assigned to the tank division, formerly headed by General George Patton. He is regarded as one of the most successful United States field commanders of any war. Elvis’s tank division were sent to Germany. He served from 1958 through 1960 during the Berlin Crisis. There were thousands of American tanks sent to stop thousands of Russian tanks from getting to Fulda Gap, the border between East and West Germany. Hannibal had already invaded Fulda Gap. Hannibal was a slave but became a general and a military engineer in Russia because he was captured as a boy and was sent to Peter the Great, and Peter adored him for bng so intelligent, and since Peter adored him he was allowed to

join the Military as a general and military engineer for Russia. But when Peter died in 1725, Hannibal was banished to Siberia. Napoleon and Patton had taken the same route Hannibal had taken. American strategists said the Red Army could go through the Fulda Gap too, taking Frankfurt, the financial capital of west Germany, then all of west Europe. Elvis, mission was to stop the Red Army from making it to Fulda Gap. The Berlin Crisis started in November 1958, when Elvis was on maneuvers in Grafenwöhr and Khrushchev gave the US a choice giving them six months to agree to leave Berlin. German leaders think of Elvis as a threat. German defence minister Willi Stoph, declared Elvis’ rock and roll a seduction for youth to ripen in atomic bombs. In April of 1959, East German Communist party leader Walter Ulbricht told a cultural conference it was “not enough to to reject capitalist decadence with words, to speak against the the ecstatic “singing” of Presley, we have to offer something better.” In 1960 Elvis left the army. May 1,1967 Elvis got married to Priscilla Presley, and their daughter, Lisa Marie, was born February 1, 1968.
Elvis fused different types of music to bring back rockabilly. Rockabilly is a type of music combining of old school rock and country, or belonging to early blues infused rock from the 50’s. Elvis combined country/western music with the blues from african americans and the pop music people listen to the most around that time. Elvis also starred in 33 movies that made it big in Las Vegas. He would have record breaking concerts and sold over a billion records. Elvis has gotten gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards for 150 albums and singles and he got the Grammy Lifetime Achievement award at the age of 36. He has 14 Grammy nominations (3 wins) from the National Academy of recording Arts and Sciences. By 1970, the United States Jaycees nominated Elvis as one of the ten most outstanding young men the in the nation.
Elvis is and has always been the Rock and Roll king since he started his singing career. He combined music to change the world’s point of view on music and he has an area all his own in music. Elvis change the Lipsi and it could have distroyed his career by changing the Lipsi. he wasn’t expecting to become the Rock and Roll and he wasn’t expecting to become The Elvis Presley that everyone talked about then and still does talk about him years after he died and still talks about his music.
