Elvis Presley You may know him as "the King of Rock n´ Roll", but who is the man behind the famous title? The rocksinger Elvis Aaron Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi on January 8, 1935. He was raised by his mother and father Gladys and Vernon Presley. Elvis was the only child since his twin brother died at birth. He formed a very tight bond to both of his parents considering he was the only child. But he was the closest to his mother. His family was very religious, so Elvis often went to church. The gospel choir was actually the place he started singin. He got a lot of compliments on his voice by the minister. How did his music career start? Around the age of 18 Elvis was working as a truckdriver. One day he started thinking about what he would sound like if being recorded. So he went to "Memphis Recording Service" to record a disc that included two songs, "My happiness" and "That's when your heartaches begin".
