This war has been notably going on since October 2023, which means more than 30,000 lives have been taken. Just like the Holocaust, these lives consist of children and babies. But how does this cross over with Elie Wiesel’s “The Night”? Today and over 80 years ago, there is still a striking similarity between a book and a war happening. First, to draw these comparisons I need to realize what the book is called, ‘The Night’. The Night is a book written by Elie Wiesel, consisting of his real experiences in a concentration camp. These Jews didn't realize the gravity of the situation until they were in the heart of the camp. The people who wanted to exterminate the Jewish people were Nazis, Jews knew the Nazis didn't take them there for a vacation, but the undeniable horror wasn't imagined until the Jews saw it first hand. Thousands of Jews would be placed in “showers” every day, being gassed and then burned. But you might ask, why didn't he just run away? These camps were lined with hundreds of armed guards and were beaten if that thought even came across their mind. The camps had barbed wire and were secure, there was no way someone could easily escape let alone be alive after. But let's say they didn't have guards or barbed wire, why did they stay? These Germans put fear and power over the Jews. This made the Jews submissive, they felt like there was nothing they could do but comply and pray for a miracle. In the beginning of the books, the Jewish people trusted the Nazis and did not fear them, due to the fact they treated the Jews
