An Eli Levido field goal on the full-time siren handed the North Sydney Bears a dramatic 23-22 victory, against their archrivals, the Manly Sea Eagles, at North Sydney Oval. It was an game that saw next to nothing happen in the opening 50 minutes, but that all changed with Tom Hughes scoring one of the tries of the year, followed by the teams going try-to-try until the clutch field-goal at the end of the match. The Bears completely dominated the battle of field position in the early stages of the game, and were rewarded with a try to Abbas Miski, who finished off a beautiful set piece off the scrum. A wonderful ball by Eli Levido towards the opposite sideline created an opportunity for Tevita Coterell, who made no mistake in planting the ball down and increasing their lead to 10-0. …show more content…
In what could be described as a relatively dour opening 50 minutes to the game, Bears’ winger Tom Hughes put the North Sydney locals on the feet with a marvellous effort. As he charged for the corner, he spectacularly jumped, twisted and turned; somehow planting the ball in the process and increasing their lead to 16-6. Dylan Kelly put his mark on the match by bursting through the line shortly afterwards, then passing the ball for an unmarked Harlan Collins to run away and score. It seemed that Hughes had done it again in the 60th minute, but lighting never strikes twice in the same spot, with the touch judge ruling him to have stepped out in the process of scoring. Almost immediately afterwards, the Sea Eagles marched up-field with the assistance of a penalty, and it was Fritz’s turn to athletically dive in the corner to score an incredible
What seemed to be a very long and difficult game, the Worland High School Varsity Girls come through to winning the game against Powell. Still remaining number one in the 3A division in the state of Wyoming, Worland has put up a fight regarding their loss against Lander last year at state soccer in Jackson, Wyoming. Worland’s very first game of the season this year in 2014 was against Jackson. The defending state champions were demolished by the Warriors, and Jackson also did not score a single goal. Majority of the girls soccer players this year are very young, only three seniors are on the team this year. As observed on April 4, 2014, the Warriors went against a stronger team in their division, Powell. Not only does Powell have bigger, stronger, and faster girls, but they also started worrying the Warrior crowd after they had put two shots into the goal of the goal keeper. With the score 2-2 it became more and more intense in the crowd. Only about 10 minutes were left in the game, and like last year at state Worland did not want to go into overtime because if there was no goal after overtime match it would lead into penalty kicks. As horrifying as it is to have that kind of pressure within about 6 minutes left of the game a goal was finally made for the Warriors! The score was now 3-2, and Powell was not happy. As the head coach from Powell was jumping up and down saying that they have this game motivated his girls. However, Worland put up a fight and as close as it was Worland finishes off the game with a win. An evaluation of the game was indeed a struggle to write on; however, Anna Hepp will give me information from her perspective of the game along with the another senior, Yesie Herrera.
... middle of paper ... ... The Bears lost 24-0. Gamblers lost a large sum of money that day and caused a big uproar.
The Bears have had a very long history. They have been playing since the league started. The Bears have played all ninety-three seasons. Not all seasons have been winning seasons, but a good majority of the seasons have not ended in loss. They have created a legacy just as the New York Yankees have created their legacy. They have the most retired jersey numbers with thirteen and the most pro football hall of famers with twenty-six players. That is a very impressive feat for a football club. (Hitory by the Decade)
But that was as close as the Sooners would come. Holy Cross scored 10 of the last 12 points in the game for a 58-47 conquest.
This time to start off the quarter Najon Nobles would hit a 3. Emonni Wood collected his second block during this period, which he seemed to utter something to the opposing team after he sent the shot halfway down the other end of the court. Stallions found a rhythm this
The Lions opened the game up 6-0 due to scoring three runs in the third and fourth inning. TCNJ took advantage of two batters getting hit by pitch in the third inning and being brought home with a single by second baseman Annalise Suitovsky and a double by first baseman Madison Levine.
With five seconds left in this game it looks like that Chicago Bears will defeat the New
It was one of two free throws for Orso, Eureka’s second year, junior starting point guard. Was this the break through the Wildcats had been looking for? Or just a routine shot for a high school player to conclude the game?
The players learned about this travesty at halftime and came back from a 10-point deficit, shutting out the Chicago Bears in honor of Tony Morabito. This travesty had forever altered the course of the
It’s February 24th 1982 and you are standing in the stadium watching the Edmonton Oilers take on the Buffalo Sabers. The score is 5-3 for Edmonton. Player number 99 has control of the puck and is headed straight for the opposing teams net. Everybody in the stands is on the edge of their seat because they know what is going to happen next. Then everyone goes wild. “AND HE SCORES”. Wayne Gretzky has just beat the all-time record for goals scored in a single season (77), previously held by Phil Esposito (76) (The Great One 1). Gretzky has done it again, he has amazed everyone in the hockey world with his amazing abilities.
The Warriors would face a 4th and three to go at the 9:59 mark of the quarter and the opted to go for it. The play was pass from Jamal Lipsey and went to James McDowell moved the ball to the Tigers 44-yard-line and moved the chains. The Warriors known for being a very undisciplined team, though they have slowly begun to shake that reputation, would fall back into those bad habits, with three flags being thrown on them on the first drive. The Warriors, who last week had major problems on the snap from center to the punter again ran into that problem with 6:55 left in the quarter. A bad snap to the punter was recovered by Chase Wade, at the Warriors
When the Vikings took the field over three-fourths of the crowd were wearing solid purple and routing for the Vikies. The Vikings won the coin toss and deferred to the second half. The Browns received the opening kickoff and returned it to the house for a touchdown. The game did not appear to be a interesting one and they were only 13 second into it. The Vikings then got the ball at their 25 yard line, but Mckinnon through an interception and it was returned for a touchdown. The next five drives the Vikings were unable to get across mid-
Riley, our starting quarterback, placed his hands on the helmet of the right tackle, as he did every play. He called the play looking straight into my eyes signaling the pass was coming to me. My entire body tingled with excitement as I ran to the left of the field. I could feel my cleats dig into the soft, freshly cut field as I took my stance. I looked up into the sky seeing only white lights which created the stage for the football field. As I brought my head down slowly to see the white eyes of the defender across from me, my heart beat slowed and I was still, in peace for the short moment. The quarterback hiked the ball and I began in pursuit; shifting, juking to get away from my defender. We were side-by-side running down the field as the ball was thrown into the air, coming strait to me. I jumped up and became airborne, snagging it from the lit up, night sky. Falling back with the ball secured into my arms, I felt my defenders full weight push into my left leg. A snap rang out as we hit the ground together and I looked down to see a large bump sticking straight left out of my
