As a recent graduate from the University of Pune in Electronics and Communication Engineering. I have been innately curious throughout my life and I have interests in topics like genetics, evolutionary psychology, game theory and neurobiology. My current interests in electronics are in smart grids, SiC-based power devices, power converters and integration of power and control systems like power-supply on chip. My first experience with applied electronics was in my second semester. I was part of a 3-member team that designed an automatic water tap which controlled the flow of water based on the light intensity on a photodiode for the science exhibition. The project involved using a solenoid valve and it was my first experience of Lenz’s Law first hand with a burnt out transistor due to the inductance. In my third semester the course Power Devices and Machines introduced us to power devices like power diodes, BJTs and MOSFETs and the tradeoffs involved with switching time/breakdown voltage/on-resistance. The course also covered the 3 basic DC-DC converter topologies – Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost, rectifiers and inverters. We were introduced to DC brushed motors, brushless motors, induction motors, stepper motors and the control strategies involved with each. This was where I really liked power electronics due to its wide scope and the challenges it poses to any engineer and where only a great engineer can show their skills. I understood that power electronics requires understanding multiple subjects to really excel. I participated in two circuit designing and debugging competitions and I was a finalist on both occasions with each competition having a pool of atleast 500 participants. In my fourth semester the subject Integrated Cir... ... middle of paper ... ...gh torque we could generate. I agree my GPA would be considered low among my peers, hence I have taken an Online Course in Fundamentals of Power Electronics on Coursera being taught by Prof. Robert Erickson, and the course awards a certificate with distinction to students who complete the course with the highest scores which I hope to receive by 15th Dec,2013. Online courses by their very nature require people to be self-motivated as there is no professor or TA on your case nor are there any repercussions if you don’t complete the course. I feel this demonstrates both my ability to study independently-an asset in graduate school, and shows how self-motivated I am. In your department I am especially interested by the problems that Prof. xyz is working on. I feel that abc could be a good way to go forward on this. I would like to work with him on the said problem.
I gradually became interested in Industrial Distribution throughout my education career. When I was applying for college during my senior year of high school, I was having a difficult time deciding between the majors of Business and Engineering. Therefore, I applied to Computer Engineering and was put into Blinn TEAM. Since Blinn was more cost efficient, I declined that offer and applied directly to Blinn College. I completed all of my core classes at Blinn and applied to transfer into Texas A&M. I did some research and asked my fellow students about whether there is a major that combines both Business and Engineering, and I stumbled upon Industrial Distribution. I decided that was the best fit for me, so I applied to that major.
Being the top student in my secondary school (with 85.5%), I got admitted into Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering at MIT, Ujjain. My curriculum enhanced my knowledge in Microprocessors, Digital Signal Processing, and Analytical and Industrial Instrumentation. Having a strong zeal towards Information System and Computer Programming, I have also learned different languages like C, C++, SQL and PL/SQL.
As an engineering student, design, develop and test electrical equipments is the major purpose of all time. In other words, electrical engineer is concerned with using electricity to transmit electric power. In electrical engineering, there are extensive subfields such as power engineering, control system and signal processing. It is also worth to point out the difference between electrical engineering and electronic engineering. According to the research, electronic engineering is a major that deal with the electronic system such as computers and radar, to be more specific, electronic engineers are concerned with using electricity to process information.
A fascination for Science & Technology and keen interest in the ever-growing world of technology motivated me to take up engineering. The power of research and delivering it for the growth of Society is what makes me interested in the technology side of science. I choose to major Computer science Engineering with an intense urge to delve into this challenging field. During my under graduation program I learned the various fundamentals of Computer science Engineering which together with practical course works reinforced my interest.
My test scores and GPA does not define me. Working hard to improve describes my characteristic. Unfortunately, I did not push myself, until eleventh grade. I realized I will not be successful endless I fix my attitude. Therefore, I applied myself and tried different things. I started waking up every Saturday at seven in the morning to do a film class in Manhattan. I did many community service jobs such as giving out presents at a Christmas event and working at a community garden over the Summer. Although my academic record may not impress some colleges, I am proud of the effort I did this past year. In 11th grade, I would remember going up to teachers and ask them how I can improve my grades. If they said participate more, I would raise my
Technology is increasing exponentially, and now I am a part of that ‘future’. When I look into my future, I see myself working toward the minimization of the human imprint in our world more specifically energy consumption. Being an Electrical Engineer, clean energy is an area that I am deeply passionate about. We are part of an ecosystem which is threatened every day by our wastes. Yes! We do use recycling, wind turbines, and hydraulics, but we need to take advantage of these to produce cleaner energy. To get closer to my passion, I will master in Mechanical Engineering so that I can have a clear understanding of the interactions of electronics and their mechanics. I believe every engineer should take some type of environmental courses to understand the direct effects of engineering in our surroundings. Therefore, one my academic goals is to study the environment so that when I create something I have thought of the ways it may impact nature. When I imagine my finish line, I see myself working alongside others who want to build a greener planet, who want to see oil-free oceans, and who can coexist with nature. I believe that engineering is the way to move towards this future and it is the reason why I decided to pursue it. In H.A.C.U, I will meet people who share similar views as me, who are willing to collaborate ideas,
Electrical engineering is the major that I am pursuing during my college career. I decided to pursue this major because it is a career, which requires knowledge in other subjects, it is a career, which changes often, and everyday it provides a person with new problems to solve.
People travel miles in search of their true passion; some find them early in their life and I consider myself lucky enough to be one among them. I found my true calling at the age of 12 on a field trip to a milk factory. It seemed like the Disneyland of science with huge machineries, conveyer belts running all around, and instruments working about in their own rhythm with sheer intricacies and perfection. As a kid, I was eager to understand the mechanics behind this magical rhythm. The desire of gaining in-depth knowledge about Control System and Automation eventually led me to choose Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering as my undergraduate study.
...ent career I have been a top ranking student. In my undergraduate I was Silver Medalist securing Second position in my class. I qualified a highly competitive exam for post graduate entrance in engineering conducted jointly by the seven Indian Institutes of Technology and the Indian Institute of Sciences, called G.A.T.E. (Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering) with a percentile of 98.88% and got admission at IIT Kharagpur.
Electrical engineering deals with electricity, electro-magnetism and electronics. It also covers power, control systems, telecommunications and signal processing. These engineers are usually concerned with large-scale electrical systems such as motor control and power transmission, as well as utilizing electricity to transmit energy. Electrical engineers may work on a diverse range of technologies, from the design of household appliances, lighting
At the dawn of the information age, to be young, as Wordsworth said in another context, is very heaven. Getting to know what goes inside computers, the engines of the Information Technology revolution, and knowing how to work with them enables one to understand the technology that makes it all possible. Understanding this, I chose to do my undergraduate study in Electronics and Communications engineering.
My fascination towards Electronics N Communication basically developed in the 12th when I took part in a science exhibition. I was then fascinated with the complexities of different structures and their working. The i...
Electrical engineering arose in the late 1800s and was heavily influenced by the work of many pioneers such as Nikola Tesla, Thomas Edison, and George Westinghouse. These inventors contributed greatly to the work in which electricity could be efficiently produced, distributed and used to improve society in a big way. Electrical engineering is a form of science that specializes in the study of electricity, electromagnetism, and electromechanical devices. Mathematics is the common language that is used to describe the theories and principles that are in this field, also electrical engineers need to be able to navigate their way through equations that describe the laws and concepts of electrical engineering in order to solve complex problems.
From my perspective, excellent electronic engineers are a group of gifted and imaginative talents who bravely explore and innovate, change the world with passion and innovation. I have always dreamed of becoming one of them. For realizing this dream, I started from China 's Jilin University and then joined The University of Manchester for BEng (Hons) Electronic Engineering to take more advanced professional courses. In UoM, I managed to gain GPA of 4.0. Yet, my pursuit of the dream does not end there, since I plan to apply for M.S. program in Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Carnegie Mellon University, where I can receive the best education among the world.
