Many elderly adults are abused in their own homes, in relatives’ homes, and even in facilities responsible for their care. If you suspect that an elderly person is at risk from a neglectful or overwhelmed caregiver, or being preyed upon financially, it’s important to speak up. Elder Abuse? What is this? Many people wonder the same thing but never take the time to look deeper into this subject. Elder abuse is when an elder becomes more physically frail they're less able to stand up to bullying or to fight back if they are getting attacked (Nolo.com). As people get elderly they start loosing the ability to hear and to see clearly and others take advantage of them. Many suffer mental, emotional and physical illnesses, which make it easier for those who live with them easier to take advantage of. They shouldn't be doing this because what if this was happening to their own loved one, they wouldn't like it them.

There are many types of abuses that the elderly go through. A significant number of elderly residents are abused in some way. The abuse can be anywhere between physical, emotional and mental activity to stealing their money to illegally restricting an activity from them (Elder abuse.com). Society see's doctors and nurses as helpful people who are always there for those in need of help but sometimes they are the main ones who are abusing the elderly, when they are being seen as heroes in the eyes of many people.

I personally wouldn't let my parents or grandparents live in a nursing home because I don't want strangers who are suppose to take care of them mistreat and neglect them. If rather have them in my care and offer them love and happiness.

Many people say they place their loved ones in the nursing homes because they don't have the time or patience to be taking care of their loved ones (Elder Abuse). After they know what is really going on in the nursing homes that's when they regret having their loved ones in there they were thinking that they were going to get the care that they needed and that they couldn't give to them but they weren't receiving that at all. They take their loved ones out of there and try to manage their time so that they don't go through the same thing again (Abuse in nursing homes).
