My particular organization is a school, therefore, the education of students is our business, the area that I work in is the cafeteria section, specifically, I am the secretary and my main job is processing the applications for free and reduced lunches. This is my eight school year and I strive every single year to process the applications as punctual as I possibly can so that parents do not incur unnecessary charges and students are not denied meals or charge surreptitiously. Moreover, I take classes each year, so that I am up to date on the rules and regulations and started back to school because this job likes everyone to have a college degree. As a result I am both stronger and learning more myself every single day, after I graduate I plan to continue MOOCs and such to continue my education especially in the are of nutrition. …show more content…
Accordingly, children that have a status from last year can be placed aside for a period of time and children that are new can be processed first. However, you receive a flood of applications all at once, these need to be sorted and corralled so they are are not lost. After my first day experiencing the flood of applications I thought about it on the way home and went to the dollar Store and I bought some simple plastic baskets and labeled one basket “NEW”, One “30 Days carryover”, another, waiting for call back and the last one “to be filed” this organizes the applications and keeps them all easily accessible. I know this sounds insanely easy, but there was not a system to controls these papers when I first came to work there and it was a madhouse trying to locate one particular application. With this system it’s far easier to locate and then communicate with parents calling back to provide missing
As a commuter to McDaniel College, I don’t spend much time on campus outside of classes. Therefore, the relevance of after school activities doesn’t apply to me as much. Keeping current with events happening on campus grounds, is often a daunting task. However in the spirit of class participation, I decided to create awareness that fall break is upon us.
“Everyone makes a difference, no matter what they do or in which department they work.” (Andrica 44). A very important concept to remember in any organization is that everyone is important. The book Creating Magic: 10 Common Sense Leadership Strategies from a Life at Disney by Lee Cockerell explains this concept in the first leadership strategy that the Disney Corporation uses. People wonder why Disney is such a magical place; it is because they follow this simple strategy. “Disney emphasizes that courtesy is more important than efficiency.” (Lee 34-35). Making everyone important is significant to having a smooth running organization for a number of reasons; these reasons include making people feel like they matter, listening to everyone’s opinions, making more productive members,
The United States has a long and proud history of providing public education to its citizen’s children. The fundamental idea behind the creation of this educational system was that it be available to all, regardless of geographical location or family status. In the era that this initiative was generated many of America’s families lived and worked on farms, and children were a vital part of this lifestyle. The founders of the United States’ public schools had to create a plan that included all children, even those who were expected to perform agricultural work in the harvest season. Thus, the nine-month school calendar was brought into use, allowing farming children a three month break from school in the summer to aid their families in the crop yield. In time, youth participation in farming became outdated and obsolete, and this arrangement slipped from necessity to simply being a tradition held on to through the years. In our modern era, a year-round school calendar would benefit the teachers, students, and finances of America’s public schools.
While growing up, I attended a traditional school. This is a schooling method many individuals are probably familiar with. A student attends school for nine months out of the year, and then has a three month break during the summer. However, in my immediate hometown surroundings, nearby traditional schools are assessing the idea of transforming into year-round schools. Year round schooling is one subject debated in high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools nationwide. Are schools that operate 365 days a year academically better than traditional schools? What are the cost differences between the two? How would a year-round school effect families? Changing the schooling technique from traditional to year-round has numerous variables that need to be taken into consideration before any grade school or secondary education institution fully commits. Year-round schooling schedules should not be implemented and traditional schooling calendars should be maintained.
Graduating early is when you graduate before you are suppose to. It was never common because no one ever seemed to think about it or want to put in the work to do it. For a long time high school was defined as the best time of your life. Everyone who spoke to you always said when you left you would miss it. No one really wanted to graduate early for that reason. People wanted to cherish the time they had in high school because they knew they only got to go through it once. It was a big idea to live up to. Senior year has this belief attached to it. It means a lot to people because it is their last year of high school and it was upsetting to know that you’d be leaving the people you have spent the last four years with. People thought you had to have as much fun as possible in high school and do all kinds of crazy things before you turned 18: when you would be considered and punished as an adult. Now those times have changed. High school is not looked upon as the best times of your life anymore. It is looked upon in almost a negative way. High school has changed a lot and it is not very enjoyable now. There are lots of reasons why someone would want to graduate early. For instance, maybe the student was bullied, maybe the student decided they wanted to move on and go to college, maybe the student got sick of their home life and wanted to move forward, or like me, maybe the student has their future waiting for them and all they need is to graduate high school so they could begin it.

Having the college experience is everyone’s dream, especially High School students who are ready to get out into the world and explore. College is very important for furthering someone’s career, but no one thinks about all the costs and the stress that comes along with college. Tuition fees and costs are increasing more and more each year. Now days it feels like you have to be a millionaire just to attend a good college and get a good degree in what you were attending for.
