Most people just know that ancient Egypt and Maya both had majestic and expressly structured pyramids by the ancient people long ago. However, not many of them know that different uses of the pyramids. The early Egyptian Civilization that stretched from the Nile River Valley to the east of Africa from 3100 to 2680 B.C. Even though there are various differences between these two civilizations, there are still a number of similarities. The ancient Egyptians and Mayans had very similar religious beliefs. They both believed in Polytheistic with rulers that represented god on earth. The Mayans believed that virtually all things in the world had spirits among them. Differently, the Egyptians had a deep belief in afterlife. They believed that their lives were controlled by their deities.

When comparing the two written languages, scholars even found more similarities between them. In both civilizations, people used hieroglyphics. The Mayans used hieroglyphics in tombs, buildings, and on monuments. Similarly, the ancient Egyptians used them on statues, temples, and pillars. However, the two cultures used their language for different purposes. The ancient Egyptians used hieroglyphics for business records. While in ancient Maya, people used hieroglyphics to indicate the history and the date of death. The Egyptians and Mayans had many things in common but also had many differences. The main reason that causes that is because the different culture and different people. These cultures are important for people today to learn the different ways of living in each of the society.
I can infer that the Egyptians and the Mesopotamians were similar in the way that they had a written language, both of them were polytheistic, and they both built pyramid type things. The differences between the Egyptians and the Mesopotamians were their different views on what happens to you in the afterlife and how to bury people after they die.

The people of early Mesoamerica had an abundance of different foods. One main food they had though in the 3 main groups (Aztecs, Olmecs, and Mayans) was maize. Maize is a corn like plant derived from teosinte that was domesticated around seven thousand B.C. to five thousand B.C.. Maize was about seventy percent of the Mesoamerican diet and around twenty one percent was meat . The Olmec’s had corn, beans, squash, and chili peppers (194). Each of their food items went in to a balanced diet of carbs, minerals, and vitamins. According to Concise Thematic Analysis “The Olmec system produced a food surplus that freed members of the community to take on specialized roles” (194) which just goes to show how much was around for them. Mayans ate corn and beans as their most important part of their diets, but also had some small domestic meats such as dog, turkey, duck, and fish. The Mayans also had honey and alcoholic drinks made from a stingless bee. The Aztecs had a good variety of plant foods as well with maize topping the charts of their diet with having other stable foods such as sweet potatoes, tomatoes, beans chilies, squashes (also big in their diet), carrots, etc. They also, had a lot of animals to choose from but they did not

The religions in Egypt and Mesopotamia were similar because both were polytheistic, had beliefs of an afterlife, as well as priests who were part of the upper levels of the social hierarchy. Social similarities between Egypt and Mesopotamia included: rigid social structure, dependence on slavery, and authoritative religious structure. However, the system of government was different because Egyptian society was governed by a theocratic monarchy, while Mesopotamia was ruled by a traditional monarchy.
The Maya and Aztec civilizations were both indigenous people that flourished in Mesoamerica during different periods of time. Maya 's classic period is dated from 250 to 900 AD, which was considered to be the peak of their civilization. They covered much of the Yucatan Peninsula and were centered in what is now known as Guatemala. The Aztecs dominated from 1325 AD to 1521 AD, in what is now modern day Mexico. As most of us know, Egypt is located in the northeastern part of Africa while the Mayans were located in what would now be Guatemala. In conclusion, there were some beliefs and customs that the Egyptians and the Sumerians shared. They were both polytheistic and they both relied on the surrounding rivers for agriculture/life support. Yet their attitudes and prayers towards the gods and goddesses differed as well as their views on the afterlife.
