What are the effects of practicing for basketball and not practicing? There is plenty of effects of practicing and not practicing. The different things that can happen between practicing for basketball and practicing the things that can be effected is that the ability to play games, it can effect the skill level of the player,and learning how to play and cooperate with teammates. This is going to explain what are the good and bad effects of practicing or not practicing basketball.
One of the most important thing in basketball is the ability to play games and practicing as a team. When a person practices they gain the ability to win games but when they don’t practice they are more likely to lose there games because they are not as experienced as if they did practice. The more experience a player has the more successful they are gonna be out on the court compared to a player who never practices with there team will not be as successful to win games. No matter what sport a person plays there is always room for improvement and that leads to my next topic about the effects of practicing for basketball and how it can effect the skill level of the player.
The effects of practicing and improvement in a players performance is key to the game of basketball when a player practices for basketball they are improving because they are either getting a better basketball IQ or improving in the fundamentals like shooting and passing and dribbling a player can not get too good on these attributes so it encouraged that players always practice. Then again there is that player who never practices the fundamentals and never improves on his basketball IQ will not be able to be successful in part of basketball. When there is no practicing with a player he will not be able to discern what to do in practice or in games. The player will also have a struggle working with his teammates if he does not practice. Which leads me to my next topic on why practicing can change the way a player can learn how to play and cooperate with his teammates.

Of course some people are born with raw talent, however how does one expect to improve their abilities if they do not rehearse. Starting my freshman year at County High School, I played basketball and loved every minute of it. I wouldn’t be conceited enough to say I was good, but God did bless me with the talent to play. My life revolved around the sport of basketball; some would say I slept, ate, and breathed every part of it. I spent all my time training and practicing to make myself a more dedicated athlete. This dedication not only helped me as a player, but also molded me into the person I am today. It somehow helped to prepare me for what defeat I would face with back surgery in the future.
I play basketball, not only because it gives me a source of exercise, but it also allows me to be engaged in a competitive atmosphere again. To play basketball, you start knowing little and learn from your coach a lot more. It is important to learn how the game works from the different techniques of the game to the rules, goals, and communication that come with the game of basketball.
Abstract: Basketball players who enter the NBA early are not ready for the NBA. Early entry into the NBA by high school and college basketball players has had a negative affect on the college basketball program, the NBA, and the players themselves. Each year the number of early entries in the NBA rises more and more. In 1997, 47 basketball players entered the NBA draft early, and the number has risen since then. The college basketball program is drained of talent due to players leaving early. The high school players that go directly into the NBA are hurting the college program because they never contribute to the college program at all. The NBA now has to deal with a higher level of immaturity and disrespect by young players. College basketball players obtain a certain amount of respect and maturity in college. The players suffer by not grasping the concept of learning due to lack of education. Many analysts say that entering the NBA before finishing a four-year program is entering too early. The NBA commissioner, David Stern, has begun to work on ways to encourage players to go to and stay in college.
While this is not completely true, sports develop people in many ways still, some people say that “sports make me what I am today.” While it is impossible to prove exactly the way each individual takes in sports, it is seen that overall it has some positive effect. Sports are a tool of development and instead of it being a choice between sports and academics, the real answer is both and that they work together to constantly develop quality generations of people. Though problems exist, the true qualities of sports maintain the role they have in developing young ones.
Sports specialization among young people is when a child or teenager trains for and competes in only one sport. They work extremely hard year-round in order to become well-rounded in every aspect of the game. They make sacrifices and put their health in jeopardy in order to become the ultimate participant in their sport. One of the many young athletes who is only participating in and focusing on one sport is fifteen-year-old OJ Mayo from Cincinnati, Ohio. He is the young talented athlete who is predicted to be the next LeBron James in the National Basketball Association (NBA). This young athlete provides evidence of striving for perfection in this single sport when reviewing his daily schedule versus that of his siblings. He says, “The other kids go home and sleep. I come back to the gym” (Thompson, 2004). He is obviously putting forth a lot of effort in his sport to become successful at an early age.
Many video games supply people with a way to entertain themselves. One game for example is National Basketball Association 2k17 (NBA 2k17). Although it is a popular game, many are uninformed of its many advantages. Some find that NBA 2k17 is just another way to earn money and persuade consumers into buying their product. However, playing the game of NBA can help improve one’s skill and knowledge about the game of basketball.
“The odds of a high school basketball player making it to the “next level” to play college basketball (DI, II, or III) is slim. There are two types of players in the game. There are the kids who play basketball because they are athletic, and all they are seeking to gain is the recognition and awards. They want to be known. Those players are self-centered, they do not play for the team, and generally don’t play because they love the game. These are the types of players who don’t usually go on to play at the next level. On the other hand, there are the players that absolutely dedicate their life to the game of basketball just because they love the game. That is what coaches are looking for in a player, and that is the kind of player I am striving to be.
Everyone wants to get better at something, but some want it more than others. In “How to Transform an Everyday, Ordinary Hoop Court into a Place of Higher Learning and You at the Podium”, the narrator wants to get better at basketball, so he wakes up everyday at 4:30 to go with his dad to his work. Everyday, the narrator would wait 3 hours in his dad’s car until the gym opened, only to sit on the bench and watch the other men play basketball. Finally, one of the best players, Dante, tells the narrator he can play but he’ll get “smoked”. However, the narrator proved him wrong. In conclusion, it can be stated that basketball is a sport that has a positive influence on individuals from a tender age right through their adulthood. The sport has improved the overall behavior and performance of young adults, teaches them teamwork and persistence. Basketball also brings unity in communities and races alike, and has a constructive influence on the economy as a whole.
When coaching athletes of the many things you do not want to happen is overlearning. Overlearning is when the practice goes beyond the amount needed to achieve a certain performance criterion. Extended practice of relatively simple skills could result in learners not continuing to engage in appropriate amounts of cognitive efforts. Players will being to daze off, become lazy in their efforts and not pay attention because they find the practice irrelevant. To prevent overlearning use a distributed practice technique, hold shorter practices and greater number of sessions with breaks in between. Next, you need to organize how complex you want your practice to be. If it is complex, start slow with isolation on the parts of the skill and progress to doing the entire skill, if simple then do the whole skill. Use any keys necessary in order to help the athletes learning process, visual, virtual, or written. Another way to improve practices is to make sure athletes have plenty of mental practice or strength. Have them mentally visualize themselves doing the skills that they performed in practice, it will help them to remember what they learned better and possibly increase their performance next time in
Those lessons are far more valuable, and are more influential. An example of one of these benefits is academic success. Kindergarten through fourth grade students develop and improve cognitive skills (Piche). The types of academic success ranges from test scores to grades. Reasons why sports can produce academic success is because of the discipline and dedication. Sports require hard work and dedication. Students can apply the same principles from sports to the class room. Last example is learning more about yourself. Sports can create self-confidence, and help people become more independent of their selves. Also, kids are able to trust themselves by doing sports, and it helps when coaches encourage children to do something. This helps the child knowing that they believe in themselves. Doing sports helps people develop social skills. This is because when a child takes part of a sport, then they are on a team. As a team you interact with other children and interact with the coaches also. Kids learn leadership skills, team building skills, and communication skills. Sports help kids set goals, and these goals can be short-term or even long-term
First, playing sports teaches students many valuable life lessons such as responsibility and a hard work ethic. Responsibility is a very crucial in life, and people use it everyday Responsibility ties into a student’s academics because a student needs to have responsibility to do well in school. According to Dr. David Geier, playing sports can actually increase success in the classroom. Numerous tests prove that athletes have higher GPA’s, higher standardized test scores, better attendance, fewer dropouts, and a better chance of going to college (Geier, D. 2012). Owning up to a mistake also falls into the category of making a mistake. When a student fails while playing a sport, he learns to face the fear of admitting he made an error. The second valuable life lesson playing sports teaches is a hard work ethic. “Sports are one of the best places for kids to learn the importance of practice and determination,” says Grown and Flown. Teammates depend on each other for participation and performance so without everyone working hard, the team will reach their maximum potential (Grown and Flown). A hard work ethic ties into everyday life because without out, a student would never accomplish anything.
When discussing the physical impact basketball has had on my life, I will not hesitate to state that, I used to be overweight, but now I have a normal weight. Due to the vigorous exercises we did during the game, I was able to develop physical fitness and better shape. I understood what my body could do and had been able to maintain this ability. Therefore, establishing a lifelong habit for good health.
