Edward Scissor Hand Essay

In life, individuals learn about honesty and integrity - that the truth matters... that you don't take shortcuts or play by your own set of rules... and success doesn't count unless you earn it fair and square. Learning can be defined as knowledge gained by reading and studying. The novel Crabbe by William Bell and the film Edward Scissor hand by Tim Burton both show how two main characters learned from others and at the end they were able to be successful. I believe when individuals learn from others they may grow mentally and physically to be successful.
Initially, in the Novel Crabbe, Franklin Crabbe learned how to read maps, to understand compass, and to recognize land marks. This is revealed in one of Crabbe’s journal when he included

when Mary had gave him the ‘’big test’’ to help him learn better. With the knowledge of reading the map and compass, Crabbe was able to find his way back to Ithaca Camp. We see that when Crabbe learn from Marry, he grew mentally and is able to use these tricks to help him further in life. Moreover, Crabbe learned that running away from your problems might not always bring you to a solution, for that reason the best way is just to face it straight on. In any event, when Crabbe tried to solve his drinking problems by smoking a pipe.
Furthermore, the movie Edward scissor hand demonstrates the life of an unfinished creation that was accepted to the normal life.

Edward learned that it is not easy to fit in. for example, when Edward tried to become friends with Kim’s boyfriend, Jim, he did not get accepted in the group. From this we see that Edward realizes that the world is full of judgmental people. He was able to use his strength to fight more and grow physically. Edward also learned that Sometimes being different makes you special. As an example, when Edward began to use his scissor hands for good purpose such as cutting grass, trimming hedges and giving haircuts for the community. He realized how special he was because of being different. As Edward learns from his differences he was able to grow physically and mentally and came out successful to open his own salon. Last but not least, Edward learns that terrible things happen to good people. For instance, the scene when Edward saved the life of Peg’s son from an accident, the neirbors called the police on him and he had to run for his life. We see that offering to much help to people; others may view us as a criminal. Therefore Edward grew mentally from the consequences he had

faced.
I can personally connect with the life lesson give on top.

I had learned many things from others that helped me to grow mentally and physically and allowed me to be successful. For example, a few years later there was a time when I did not know how to drive. My boyfriend came along to help through this situation I was facing. He thought all about the signs of the road, what it meant and so on. I learned a lot from him. Since that time, I am now able to drive around anywhere I want and most importantly I can help my family with grocery shopping and sometimes when I don’t have school, I offer my siblings a ride to school. This was also an opportunity for me to find a great job that I could now attend to early. Compare to before it was difficult for me to make it on time because of having to take the city bus. As I learned how to drive from my boyfriend I was able to grow mentally and be

successful.
In our society, we see many ways that different countries such as Nigeria and Ghana learn from other countries and were able to come out successful. As a matter of fact, Nigeria and Ghana used to be very poor at filming movies. For example, their soundtrack, settings, and story line was not well organized. However, many years later, a few movie directors, producers, and characters decided to travel to America and learn from them on how to improve their filming. As a result these two countries were not able to correct their mistakes. The movies that they now make have amazing view, incredible soundtrack, wonderful setting, and great story line.
