Research in psychology is necessary for the education system to properly understand and teach students who enter their classrooms. Teachers need to understand the development of these children in order to address behavior that may be occurring. Learning styles and motivation in students are vital to teachers assuring that all students can reach their full potential. They then can apply instructional theories to their classroom to find the best teaching methods for those specific students. Teachers of all age levels should have a background in this knowledge and continue to educate themselves on updated research so that they can continuously be able to self evaluate themselves.
Human development is very important for all educators to understand. As a future educator of young children, it is important for me to be educated on all of the changes that my students will be undergoing as they are at a critical age. Children of a young age are developing many cognitive skills. Jean Piaget's theory of cognitive development describes schemes that children will be changing based on new knowledge. These schemes are basic ideas that children have and they then assimilate new ideas into an existing scheme. When necessary, the children will accommodate these schemes as they learn new information (Slavin, 2012, p. 32).
These students will not only be developing cognitively, but also personally and socially. According to Erikson, humans go through a series of crises that mold our personality and relationships with others. These crises include the development of trust, autonomy, initiative, industry, and identity (Slavin, 2012, p.54). When all of this research is combined with a teacher who truly cares about impacting her students and seeing them succeed, a class has prime opportunity to reach their full potential. When thinking back to adults' favorite teachers, it is very common to hear of an elementary teacher who truly impacted a student. I feel that these teachers were the ones who took the time to use their educational philosophies in an impacting way. I hope that as I continue my education here at IUP that I will be further educated in educational psychology and bring this knowledge into my future teaching career.

A well-known psychologist, Jean Piaget is most famous for his work in child development. In his theory of cognitive development, Piaget presents four stages of mental development: sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational, and formal operational. The Early Years Learning Framework allows educators to draw on a wide range of perspectives and theories which gives educators the ability to challenge traditional ways of teaching young children. One of the Theorists that underpins the EYLF document is Jean Piaget. Piaget’s theory is based on the belief that early cognitive development occurs through processes where actions prompt our thought process and this in turn influences our actions next time round. Both have contributed to the field of education by offering explanations for children's cognitive learning styles and abilities. While Piaget and Vygotsky may differ on how they view cognitive development in children, both offer educators good suggestions on how to teach certain material in a developmentally appropriate manner.

Piaget curiosity was how children cogitate and developed. As they get mature and have the experience, children’s will get knowledgeable. He suggested that children develop schemas so they can present the world. Children’s extend their schemas through the operation of accommodation and assimilation.
With social and emotional skills, a high-quality learning environment that has high-quality classroom structure and rules, commitment to the academic success of all students and high performance expectations, student learning is optimized. Attitudes towards learning, behaviour in and out of the classroom and academic performance have shown improvement with development from quality social and emotional learning that is supported through parent involvement and integrated throughout the entire curriculum.
One of the more popular areas of psychology is Educational Psychology. Educational Psychology can be explained several ways. The idea is to study theories and concepts from different parts of psychology and apply them in educational settings. These educational settings may occur in different school settings such as preschool. The goal of educational psychology is to create a positive student-teacher relationship. Educational psychology uses five different types of psychology, behavioral, cognitive, developmental, and social cognitive, and constructivist in this research paper I will be briefly discussing each type of psychology listed above.
One of the ultimate trials that educators face currently is giving students with behavioral disorders and inappropriate behaviors, tools that will help them function self-sufficiently in a suitable manner. Teachers are facing classrooms where students parade various academic and behavioral characteristics; therefore, teacher are constantly looking for effective instructional strategies and classroom management skills. Classroom teachers tend to be more appealed to flexible, tranquil to implement and inexpensive teaching strategies and techniques that keep students energetically involved.
