What does it mean to be well educated? When it comes to education everyone wants the best for themselves and their families. Education now more than ever is a necessity when it comes to being successful in life. You can ask just about anyone about education and they will have a story to tell. There are many problems with education today, many people believe that kids are being bombarded with to much homework at such a young age or that it is standardize testing that can hurt as students self esteem. One of the bigger issues of recent discussion is that school is ruining a young child’s creativity. They are the ones we build relationships with. They help us when we need it and applaud us when we do well. I think now more than ever the education system lacks teachers who truly care about the outcome of their student 's success. I have had my share of difficult teachers and because of that I have learned that there is a fine line between a teacher who is hard on you because they want to bring the best out in you and a teacher who is just flat out hard on you. I can honestly say it was those teachers that gave me support and encouragement that I 'v learned the most from. In many students lives there are things outside of school that distract them from being able to concentrate in the classroom and that can ultimately lead to them falling behind and feeling out of place. When I was growing up there were many things in my personal life that effected my school work. When I was in 4th grade my uncle committed suicide. As devastating as it was for me and my family the reason I got through that year was mainly because I had an amazing teacher who truly cared a lot about me and my success. Many students like myself growing up felt like school was one big waste of time. As a kid all I wanted to do was be outside playing with my friends. I was not the biggest fan of any of the major subjects like English, Math Science or Social Studies. That ultimately resulted in me not doing so well on tests or writing assignments. When I first started 3rd grade they had introduced the drama club to me. That is where I began to fall in love with school and ultimately acting as well. It was the drama club that changed my whole perspective on school and in many ways got me to become more invested in the classroom because if my grades were not up to a cretin standard, I could not participate in the drama club. Mike Rose 's story “Finding our way” I felt best related to this issue I was having. Like myself, Rose presents the question “Why go to school?” Also, Rose found that it was cretin subjects in school that changed his perspective not only in other classes but in life as well.
