The legend of Perseus is told in many different ways, in two particular ways they are similar but yet quite different. The movie Clash of the Titans is primarily a story of Perseus and his dangerous journey to save the princess Andromeda, while the Edith Hamilton’s Mythology is a story of Perseus, his relationship with his mother and journeys to her.
In the 1981 clash of the Titans movie the King Acrisius of Argo imprisons his daughter Danei *Danaë because he is jealous of her beauty. The god Zeus visits her and makes her pregnant. King Acrisius in a fit of rage puts Danae and the baby, Perseus, to sea in a wood coffin. Angry, Zeus kills Acrisius and orders the god Poseidon to release the giant sea monster the Kraken to destroy Argos. Perseus survives, but his mother doesn’t, his journey by floating to the island of Seriphos where he grows up.
In Edith Hamilton’ book King Acrisius is desperate for a son. He goes to Delphi to ask if he will someday have a son but the priestess tells him no and also tell him that this daughter will have a son who will some day kill him. He did not want to kill his daughter because he loved her but also because he feared the anger of the gods. So he built an underground bronze house and imprisoned her there. It was there that Zeus visited her and made her pregnant. When the King found out about this he had his daughter placed in a chest and put out to sea. They were discovered by a fisherman who took care of the them as though they were members of his family.
Meanwhile, in the movie version of the story, in the city of Joppa, Calibos the son of the sea goddess Thetis is supposed to marry the Princess Andromeda. But Calibos makes Zeus angry by killing all his flying horses except for one called Pe...

... foolishness of her mother, the Queen Cassiopeia. He saves Andromeda by cutting off the serpents head. After this, he returns to the island and the evil king. He goes to the Kings court and raises Medusa’s head turning the King and his court into stone. Later at a sporting event he throws a discuss which heads into a crowd and strikes and kills the King Acrisius, his grandfather. Then he and Andromeda are able to live happily ever after.
The movie Clash of the Titans is primarily a story of Perseus and his dangerous journey to save the princess Andromeda , while the Edith Hamilton’s Mythology is a story of Perseus, his relationship with his mother and journeys to help save her.
But both stories are similar in showing Perseus’s bravery and courage. Also, both end in the happiness of Perseus and Andromeda. It’s just that the two versions get there in different ways.
