Ecology is the study of plants and animals and the certain environment that they live in plus what they do that is what I will be covering the following.
The place that the organisms live is in the biosphere and there are abiotic factors which are the nonliving parts of an organism's environment and there are biotic factors which are the living factors in an organism's environment. A habitat is where organisms live, but an ecosystem is the interactions between organisms and the biotic factors plus the communities and surrounding abiotic factors. Now a lot of things go down in an ecosystem like predation, that involves two organisms predator and prey, now if you are the predator then you hunt and kill the animal if you are prey then you are

A primary consumer is the one that eats strait plants and the secondary consumer eats the animal that eats the plant and it keeps a chain reaction of the animals eating animals that is why they call it a food chain. In the different levels of food chains, it is very common that the higher in the food chain you go the bigger the animal gets. The bottom of the food chain is where the herbivores go the top is the carnivores this is because of a predator, prey relationship between existing animals. Another main part about biology is when a major disaster comes in and destroys the habitat when this happens most of the species leave and wait for vegetation to grow back, and that can take close to 10 years. When the vegetation grows back the herbivores are the first to come back to the habitat then after they come, the carnivores are not far behind them once all of the animals are back it is once again an ecosystem. Government conservation is the protection of the environment and of course bringing the government into the process. There are many different groups of animal protectors like ASPCA and PETA these are groups that want to protect animals it
Fig.3-This food web shows that Pandas are prey to jackals and leopards. Photosynthesis is the beginnings of the food web as it produces the energy to help plants grow, which are the primary producers as highlighted in green. The Panda comes under the secondary consumer, as it uses photosynthesis to produce its food- bamboo. Cubs become a prey to other animals such as leopards and tigers which are known as the apex consumers. Decomposers listed on the right include bacteria and fungi which break down dead plants and animals.
Since energy is a necessary part of how an organism survives, how it obtains it’s energy is crucial. When you look at an ecosystem, and all the organisms living within that ecosystem, you can link many of the species together by their dependence on each other. Scientists will look at these links to see how they depend on each other, or in other words, where their main source of energy and nutrition is. Once that step is determined, scientists will assign that group of species to a trophic level; to either the primary producers, primary consumers, secondary consumers, or the tertiary consumers.
Ecology is defined as a “system theory used to describe and analyze people and other living systems and their
As we know, each people, animal, plant plays a specific role in the whole ecosystem. For instance, plants called “green processing plant” are the primary producers who release fresh oxygen through photosynthesis. Likewise, grizzly bears play a central part of the entire ecological system, and meanwhile plenty of their habits has a good impact on the ecological system. For example, while they are foraging for “tree roots, plant bulbs, or ground squirrels,” (Grizzly Bear) they will “stir up the soil.” (Grizzly Bear) This process not only helps grizzlies obtain their food, but also “increases species richness in alpine ecosystems.” (Grizzly Bear) In addition, when grizzly bears ate salmon “along the coasts of Alaska and British Columbia, ” (Grizzly Bear) they left salmons’ other parts except their skin, brain and roe to other small predators such as gulls. At the same time, they restrain the excessive reproduction of fish to prevent the water from occurring eutrophication which means too many algae because of massive fish
Environmental Studies is the academic field, which systematically studies human interaction with the environment in which we live in. It is a broad field of study that includes the natural environment, built environment, and the sets of relationships between them. Environmental studies takes into account many different factors that help provide an enjoyable, fruitful way of life, such as national policies, politics, laws, economics, sociology and other social aspects, planning, pollution control, natural resources, and the interactions of human beings and nature.
My first point, feeding wildlife disrupts natural cycles. Wild animals will learn to come to humans for food. If constantly rewarded with food when they approach humans, animals will learn how easy it is to gain food, and move out of their natural habitat into human populated areas. Their natural ha...
Ecological theory is environmentally based; it is based on everyone and everything that is in a child’s life. This includes parents, teachers, babysitters, neighbors and even other
Mary Oliver's (Clinebell, 1996, p.188) poem has a lot to say about the relatively new approach to conservation called ecopsychology. Ecopsychology combines the human element from psychology, with the study of how biological systems work together from ecology. A more in depth explanation of ecopsychology is that it seeks to help humans experience themselves as an integral part of nature (Strubbe 1997). When this is accomplished, humans can proceed to commit to "helping heal the earth, as well as healing ourselves" (Strubbe 1997, p. 293). In the past, environmental action has consisted of scaring and shaming those who over consume or do not recycle, which proved to be quite ineffective. Ecopsychology, in contrast, attempts to create positive and affirming motivations, derived from a bond of love and loyalty to nature (Bayland, 1995). Before tackling the principles, religious aspects, therapy, actions and education included in ecopsychology, it is essential to unde...
People have been relying for their daily needs and well-being on nature. The natural ecosystem provides varieties of goods and services to us, for instance, fresh water, fisheries, timber, water purification etc. The benefits that people directly get from the natural systems are called ecosystem services (ES).
Political ecology began in the 1960s as a response to the neglect of the environment and political externalities from which it is spawned. Political ecology is the analysis of social forms and humans organizations that interact with the environment, the phenomena in and affecting the developing world. Political ecology also works to provide critiques and alternatives for negative reactions in the environment. This line of work draws from all sorts of fields, such as geography, forestry, environmental sociology, and environmental history in a complex relationship between politics, nature, and economics. It is a multi-sided field where power strategies are conceived to remove the unsustainable modern rationality and instead mobilize social actions in the globalized world for a sustainable future. The field is focused in political ethics to refresh sustainability, and the core questions of the relationships between society and ecology, and the large impacts of globalization of humanized nature.
Scientists have begun to say that we have to do more to protect our ecosystem, because our very existence is depending upon it. When the ecosystem is not functioning properly the continuation of plant, animal and human life ecosystems would be impossible. Life cycles can not function without ecosystems. The ecosystem provides us with clean air, water, habitats for fish and other services. They also aid in the mod...
Social ecology is the conceptual principles for knowing the outcomes and relations of the many diverse individual and environmental factors. Social ecology is defined as the study of people within an environment, which have influence on one another. It’s believed to be the earth’s societies reflection upon itself, exploring, discovering, and considering its future (Gutkind, 1974). Factors of social ecology may include the infirmities of age, an increase of population, natural disasters, technology and the growth of society. Within social ecology it is important to notice which people are unable to see the environmental crisis. This movement is placing all the responsibility for destroying the earth on humans as they are overpopulating the planet. There is no possible way of convincing all humans to change their way of life (Bookchin, 1995). However, rather have humans distinguish and eliminate previous forms of control and destruction (Bookchin, 1995). The main standard of social ecology is the fact that problems occur from inherent social issues (Dogan, Rokkan, 1974). These problems cannot be understood without acknowledging the social issues. The development, of certain technologies, social characteristics, cities and science all has caused a vast majority of problems to the earth, which leads back to humans.
The branch of science that deals with how living things, including humans, are related to their surroundings is called ecology . The Earth supports some 5 million species of plants, animals, and microorganisms. These interact and influence their surroundings, forming a vast network of interrelated environmental systems called ecosystems. The arctic tundra is an ecosystem and so is a Brazilian rain forest. The islands of Hawaii are a relatively isolated ecosystem. If left undisturbed, natural environmental systems tend to achieve balance or stability among the various species of plants and animals. Complex ecosystems are able to compensate for changes caused by weather or intrusions from migrating animals and are therefore usually said to be more stable than simple ecosystems. A field of corn has only one dominant species, the corn plant, and is a very simple ecosystem. It is easily destroyed by drought, insects, disease, or overuse. A forest may remain relatively unchanged by weather that would destroy a nearby field of corn, because the forest is characterized by greater diversity of plants and animals. Its complexity gives it stability.
Environmental studies is a paramount field to focus on for both the present day and the future. This field of studies pertains to all people, animals, plants, and biomes around the world. Environmental Studying is important because it is only by understands the environmental processes that we can begin to take the steps necessary to correct the on-going damage that is occurring, and ultimately protect and sustain life on the planet. Unless steps are taken to try and abate and control environmental problems, which are often human-generated or exacerbated, then the environmental that we live in will continue to deteriorate. There is no life without protecting the source that sustains us. Even though I have only been alive for seventeen years, it has been long enough to see many negative environmental changes. Since I was born that population has grown by over one billion people causing deforestation, loss of wildlife, increased pollution to both air and water, and even superbugs. However, I have also been able to see extremely positive results such as an increase in the research and implementation of renewable resources. The reason I am so motivated to study environmental science is because I know that change is possible. Those who study environmental science and study have the ability to help reduce, and possible reserve, some of the damage that has been done to the environment while at the same time, helping to advance the well-being of our fellow humans.
