Easter Research Paper

I bet that you do not do what I do on Easter. I will tell you what I do and you can then tell me if you do the same thing. First I will go shopping, then get everything ready, and finally we (my household family) will head off. The place that I go is probably not even close to where you go, if you have even gone anywhere. I go to Glasco, Kansas. You guys are probably asking where Glasco Kansas is, because you have never heard of it. Well Glasco, Kansas is north east of Newton, Kansas. It takes about 2 hours to get there, with all of the stops that we make. If we didn’t make any stops then it would take about 1 hour and 40 minutes. It also depends on the traffic but, maybe you do some of the same things so I will tell you what I do and we can

compare.

So, the first thing that we do is we go shopping for the perfect outfits. Now, in my family my mom makes my sister Megan and I wear dresses. So, we go to stores and look at dresses. You might think this isn’t that bad it is fun because I love shopping. Well, everyone in my family has to have the same color, and get as close to the same shade as possible. Even if that means getting the same dress (which we usually do). After me and Megan find our dresses, and get the approval on the dress and the color, then we are off to find my brothers outfit. Finding my brother’s outfit is hard, because he has to wear the same shade of color as us. With just the kids done that takes about 1 whole day. We go eat dinner then head home. The next day we go back to Wichita and go shopping for my dad’s. It is a little harder to find the outfit for my dad, because first they usually never have the shade that we need, and second he wears really big shirts. My dad’s outfit will average about ¾ of the day. That includes stopping and eating and gas. By that day we are pretty wiped out, so we go and look for shoes. Since, we already have that color we try to find that color or a color that matches. That usually takes up about the rest of that day, so we eat and go home. Now the next day is my mom’s outfit. Depending on the color, and what she finds it in, she will either wear a dress or a shirt and skirt. Now, it usually won’t take as long to find her clothes, but then she needs to have jewelry to match. So, after a long time with jewelry, we go and finish up our shoe shopping. This is usually the last day.

Now, this part is probably one of the easiest parts, in my opinion.

This is the getting ready part. We always get everything that we can get ready on the night before. That means snacks, drinks, and blankets, we also get the portable dvd player all charged up. Half of us also take our showers the night before, because it is usually a time challenge in the morning. Us girls paint our nails, and either braid our hair or do whatever we can to get it ready. Our new outfits are laying down by the door. Now, you are probably thinking if you are going to put on your outfits, why are they by the door? Well would you like to sit in a car for two hours, in a dress? No, so we always dress super

comfy.

Now onto the day of Easter.

Get comfy because this is going to be pretty long. So, my parents wake up really early, and so then they wake me and my sister up at about 5:30. At my old house me and my sister shared a room. When we would wake up there would be dozens of stuffed bunnies all over our room. Our parents used to tell us that the easter bunny came to get us into easter spirit. So, we would wake up, get dressed and let the animals do their business, and after we bring them inside we lock up the house and leave. We usually forget one thing so we have to go back one last time. Since, it is usually pretty early in the morning there are not many cars. We always go to mcdonalds and pick up breakfast. Sometimes one of us kids would ride with my grandparents there but not usually. After mcdonalds we hop on the road. While we are on the road, we turn on the portable dvd player. We also pack plastic eggs full of candy. After about 4 times of saying are we there yet, we are finally there. We pull into the driveway and see my grandparents car already parked there. We get out our outfits and go inside. The first thing we do is say hi. Then we go and change in rooms. Every year before 2006, my great grandma owned the house and so we would say hi to her. Well in 2006, my great grandma passed away and gave the house to her daughter. So, we still go there every year but it is not the same without her. After we are dressed we go straight to the church. When we show up everybody’s

face brightens up because they have not seen us in about a year or at least half a year, because one year we went there for thanksgiving. So, we stay for the church service and afterwards we go and talk to fellow church members. Megan and I constantly get bored because we do not know anyone there. But, since my mom grew up there everyone knows her and she knows most of them. After we convince my mom to stop talking we go out to the bell and take a bunch of family pictures. When the pictures are done, we hop in the car and go back to my great grandma’s house. By the time that we get back from church, it is around 12. So, my great grandma used to make lunch why we were gone, and since she has passed my aunt, now does. We each get our own spots with place cards on them. Towards the end of lunch, my dad goes outside into the little woods and hides all of the eggs. As my brother got older he would help hide the eggs. Along with finding eggs. We also find other things like movies and gift baskets. While my dad and brother would hide the eggs, my great grandma would have already have an easter bunny cake made. Megan and I would always decorate it special just how we wanted it. Now, we just talk with everyone. When it was time, to hunt the easter eggs everyone would come out and we would all take more pictures, but Megan and I would scan the yard to find the good easter eggs. After we think that we have collected all of the eggs, my dad counts them. I think every year we average to forget about 5 eggs. Since, us kids couldn’t find them everyone would pitch in and help. Once every 3 years we leave without finding 1 or 2 eggs. After, all of the eggs are found we go inside and just hang out. Finally, after a while we change back into comfy clothes, and head off.

Well, to summarize all of this up we first go shopping, then we get ready, and finally we arrive at the day of. See I told you, you do not do the same thing as me.
