lmagine it's 2020 and you are in Tokyo in the Olympic stadium and an 8.0 earthquake happens but nothing is breaking or exploding. It sounds impossible but it is absolutely possible. In the future, we may never have to worry about earthquakes at all due to new tech, AI, and ingenuity. As listed, it will save more lives or at least negate most of the damage done. We can earthquake proof a city or cause less damage because of better building planning, better materials ,and how bad our plan is to protect ourselves from earthquakes.

If we make buildings with better structures and designs it will save more lives and cause less damage. The speaker was trying a design where you would not see on the surface which most people would like. First, on http://science.howstuffworks.com/engineering/structural/earthquake-resistant-buildings6.htm,An …show more content…

The network of sensors communicates with an air compressor, which, within a half second of being alerted, forces air between the building and its foundation. The cushion of air lifts the structure up to 1.18 inches (3 centimeters) off the ground, isolating it from the forces that could tear it apart in minutes. This new technology is really cool and seems very futuristic and with this new technology, we could protect many cities if we made …show more content…

“I don’t think everyone will. My class isn’t getting postponed or anything.”The students in the university really did not care about the earthquake drill and did not do much which really did not prepare them for an actual earthquake. Some students did not even get alerted of an Earthquake drill meaning that even the staff really did not even care to inform the students and it did not really matter. Also, most of the students didn’t do it because they had the class to get to or they had to do work so just doing it at a time where they were already busy means that they just scheduled it where ever they could.A 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Nepal in April of 2015 and most houses there were crushed.Secondly, on http://www.chacha.com/question/how-much-weight-can-the-average-high-school-desk-hold,If a 7.8 magnitude were to hit here and we were in a two story building like BCHS if we went under a desk it can only hold 200-250 pounds ,as it says from chacha.com, which if a bunch of rubble fell down it would more than likely crush the person under the desk.Even if we did follow procedures for an earthquake drill we still have the same chances of dying than just doing anything. It would be a better chance of going outside away from anything which is just essentially a fire drill than just doing an earthquake drill. If schools revised their earthquake plan and did not think that the school's infrastructure was already good enough and
