The two children that I have interacted with this week at the Early Childhood Education Center from the Willows group is Emily and Harriet. I got a chance to interact with these two girls this week. They are both so much fun to play with and be around. With Harriet, we played in the dirt box and played with the musical instruments. We also played with her stuffed little gray and white cat and a toy tiger. With Emily, we played doctor and played in the kitchen area. Together Emily and I played nurse and doctor to make her little baby feel better and got to play dress up with it. We also played some in the kitchen to make food for the baby as well. From what I have learned from Harriet and Emily is that they have two different personalities.

The facility I did my observation at was Tutor Time in Fairfield, and I arrived there at 3:15pm. When I arrived there, I could instantly see that it was a child centered program by the feel of the artwork the kids had made that were on the walls, the passing classrooms and it smelled like sugar cookies throughout the building. It was very quiet in the office area and in the halls when I was walking to the class of preschoolers.
Observation is very important in young children because that is how you get to know a child better. While observing how a child interacts with their peers, adults, and how they behave in different settings, you are getting to know the child without speaking to them.
Both babies were surrounded with ample toys to engage in self-play and parenting similarly seemed highly geared toward lots of interactions between the babies and their parents. Neither had siblings either, and both attended a type of baby class that had a high focus on grown-up lead interactions with other babies and with their parents.
Childhood can be seen as a social status with multiple meanings and expectations attached to it without a clearly defined end or beginning (Montgomery 2009), This essay will introduce different sociological perspectives on what childhood is since childhood is not universal rather is it mobile and shifting this means children experience various childhoods there are local and global variations(Waller 2009), a Childs experience can be influenced by their gender, ethnicity, culture and social class which this essay will expand on. The essay will then move forward to focusing on childhood in local and global countries to investigate the differences they have among each other lastly the essay will go onto ways an professional can help acknowledge all children diversity and create an inclusive environment regardless of their differences (Penn 2008).inclusion provides support to all children so that their experiences in an educational; setting encourages them to be as involved and independent as possible as well as help them understand the differences among their class mates
The infant that was observed for the purposes of this essay was Phoebe, a two-month old girl, born via cesarean section at thirty-eight weeks of gestation to interracial parents. She was observed in her own home, in normal behavior and interactions between her and her mother. The observation was separated into two different one hour sessions.
In our society, childhood has been experienced by everyone, whether it is through their upbringing, working with children, or being part of a society that values and places emphasis on childhood. Childhood is seen as a natural and inevitable phase that we all must go through before reaching adulthood and it can be defined as ‘children’s ‘natural’ biological incapacities’ (Wyness, 2012 pg. 9).
During my observation, I spent an extended time watching and observing a 7-month-old infant. This infant is a Caucasian male, with light brown hair and brown eyes. The child comes from a family where both parents are married and completely involved in their child’s life. As of now, the child has no other siblings. During the mother’s pregnancy, the infant developed in good health, through the prenatal stage. The mother selected not to breast feed and as an alternative, she gives him formula in a baby bottle. The infant hasn’t started to transitioning into solid foods. In addition, the child is provided with a pacifier throughout the day, especially during nap and bedtime. During his nap/bedtime the baby is offered a light white blanket.
Children are brought the child care development center to provide daycare for the working parent. Upon arrival, an assessment is performed on the children. Their hair is checked for the presence of lice. Their eyes, ears, nose, and mouths are checked for redness or discharge. The presence of a cough should also be noted. General appearance is assessed for cleanliness. Their shoes should be closed toes to protect their feet from injury. The children can be dismissed from the center for lice or presence of infection to prevent the spread to others. If lice are present, the child should obtain treatment and return to school the day after treatment was received (Bohl, Evetts, McClain, Rosenauer, & Stellitano, 2015, p. 231). The child I observed was born on February 21st, so the baby that I observed is just weeks old. The baby is white and a male. The baby is a friend’s child and I observed him in the living room of their home and in his personal bedroom while he was in his crib. There was two couches in the living room, a television, two end tables, and a big sectional rug which was where the child was most of the time. There was 4 adults. The mom, the dad, my mom, and I. There were no other children in the house at this time.
I believe that personality can change over time. This I believe, because I don’t think that anyone ever grows up and doesn’t change at all. For example, when I was young, I was extremely reserved, anxious, and stringent, but now, in my senior year of highschool, I have become more relaxed, but serious, and I still am quiet and introverted, but to a lesser extent than I was before. I have also become much more focused and more mature than I was just a few years ago, which is all because of the curriculum here at my school. I have also seen people I know change over the years as they grow older and mature. I've also witnessed close friends change as we've grown up over the years. My close friend Nick used to be a flamboyant, go-with-the-flow kind of kid, but now as he entered his senior he has become more mature, responsible, and more caring than he
I observed at St. Eve’s Learning Center location in their preschool room. The center has a naturalistic feel to the environment and all of the staff is friendly and welcoming. The classroom displayed best practices, modern theories and research, and followed expected standards set by their accreditations.
I gave birth to a healthy, beautiful baby girl named Luna. Jeffrey has taken quite a liking to being a big brother. He likes to hold and rocker her and helps with feeding her. Jeffrey is still a slow-to warm child. He can communicate fairly well and is now using mostly complete sentences and seems to understand most of what I say. He occasionally makes errors of overregularization. He has taken an interest in music and singsongs even though he usually repeats a certain part a lot. I encourage this by taking him to local performances of children’s musicals. Jeffrey has learned the routines pretty well and is reasonably cooperative for his age. He is rarely aggressive to adults or other children. Jeffrey’s fantasy play has become more elaborate and sometimes includes superheroes or cartoon
The second 10 minute observation consisted of an art activity they did. She had cut out shapes of different modes of transportation and she had cut out pieces such as wheels, doors, windows, etc. The children's project was to glue the pieces to the cars. There was a example there, but they were free to do it how they wanted to do it. I would give the caregiver a rating of 3 for caregiver use of vocabulary. She used specific words such as wheel, tires, doors, etc. but she didn't really use too many new words. She stuck to the vocabulary they had learned in the previous week. She didn't really use any varied words throughout the activity to describe what they were doing. It was a quite activity overall and an activity she had a lot of wiggle room to introduce some new, rich vocabulary to the children.
Babyhood is the time from when you are born till you 're 18 months old. Like everybody else, I don 't remember anything at all from this time. Whatever I do know is from my parents, siblings and other family members. My mother told me I wanted to appear into this world earlier than I should have. If not for the medications that let me arrive at the proper time, I may not have been here today writing this very sentence. I was born on 19th December, 1999 in Gujarat, India. My parents tell me I was a very quite baby and never troubled them much at all. I would never start crying in the middle of the night, arousing the entire neighborhood. My older brother would often look at me, and state how huge my eyes looked. As a baby, I was very fair, and often was referred to a white egg. Everyone loved to play and touch my cheeks when I was a baby.
