Earl Pat Hall was a Charlotte businessman who had a history of making unrealistic dreams into a reality. However, his largest achievement was the creation of Carowinds Amusement Park along the border of North Carolina and South Carolina. In 1973 Hall finally opened Carowinds after multiple years of construction and over 30 million dollars in expenses. Despite going through some rough times of financial trouble, Hall was said to always have a great sense of humor and positive attitude. Due to his optimistic views and perseverance to do the unimaginable, E. Pat Hall is my hero. One reason that Hall is so inspiring to me is because of his quality to put words into action. In fact, Hall created Carowinds after a vacation to a Disney theme park, which influenced him to create a similar park in the Carolinas. Building an entire theme park just because of dream or wish is something that most people would laugh at, but it is part of what mad Hall so admirable. Perhaps Hall’s most famous quote is: “No idea is too bold, no challenge is too great.” That quote among itself proves to me what kind of person Hall is and what I aspire think like. have always felt inspired by people like Hall who take the incredible leap from words to action. I have never considered myself an optimist, but Hall certainly was, and his positivity is another reason why I would consider him to be my hero.
After the first season of Carowinds, the park began to lose money. In response to the money loss, Hall said, “Even if Carowinds never made any money, if I've helped make some people happy, if I’ve given families something they can do together, then it’s worth the effort.” Despite being in financial trouble, Hall gladly continued to provide a fun place for people to visit. In fact, Hall kept in control of the park until worse came to worst, and he had to sell it to prevent going into debt. Even after selling Carowinds, Hall proceeded to help his friend John Belk become mayor of Charlotte and develop new businesses. Although Hall had many hard times, he stayed positive until the day he
died. E. Pat Hall is my hero because he achieved so much through being optimistic and making dreams into reality. As a Charlotte Observer article written after Hall’s death put it, “Pat Hall did a lot of business. He also did a lot of good.” I am sure that if Hall could see Carowinds now, he would be proud that his small park with only a few attractions has transformed into what it currently is. Current-day Carowinds still holds a monument in front of the grand entrance in remembrance of Hall’s bravery, optimism, and unimaginable creativity. After all, “No idea is too bold, no challenge is too great.”
PARKER, who gave up smoking his trademark big Cuban cigars in 1990, had a meteoric rise from being a hobo in the late 1920s to a top show business manager.
Do you know anything about Jackie Robinson? Well don’t worry, if you don’t I will explain to you. Jackie Robinson is an inspiration by entering the Major League Baseball and changing history. I think this because he made white players accept him and by changing segregation.
These men seemed to know something that nobody else knew when it came to forming a racing and sales complex. They established policies that have existed for the past 50 years, they made predictions that have come true, and they built a horse facility that has lived up to every expectation. But, of course Keeneland was never intended to be just another racetrack. Twenty different sites were looked upon, but Hal Price Headley and company kept com...
The purpose of this letter is to promote Sir Clifford Sifton for the wall of fame and as being one of the significant Canadians ever. No one has changed western Canada’s history like this man. Canadian immigration policy in the first decade of the century is associated with no one individual more than Clifford Sifton.
1. Honest Graft and Dishonest Graft- When Plunkitt was tipped off about something in the city or someone wanting to built a park or something, he sees the opportunity and he takes it. He buys up the land before they do. When they see that they are going to need the land, he sells it to them at a much higher price than what he paid for it, giving him a nice profit. That is honest graft. Several politicians are accused of stealing dollars from the state’s treasury, this is an example of dishonest graft.
When one thinks of Peter Dominick, the first thing that they connect him with is Disney World. The two famous names go hand in hand as Peter is an architect who helped bring many of Disney’s dreams to life. He had a knack for animation and visualizing what others could not. The skill set and passion he obtained had always revolved around projects for a younger market. He thought outside the box when it came to his projects, and was consistently determined to overcome the obstacles that were put in front of him. These qualities and traits made him an ideal match for assisting Disney in the making of their famous theme parks Disney World and Magic Kingdom.
I know you are expecting to read just another boring essay that some 8th grade student wrote; you are one hundred percent right but lets try to make this essay more interesting than average, lets have some fun. If you were captured by indians then forced to live an outdoor and wildlife what would you think? If it was me I know I would freak out and go crazy! My character's name is Francis Tucket (Mr.Tucket) from the book Mr.Tucket by Gary Paulsen. This fourteen year old boy is very adventurous and thrilling to read about. He lives with this crazy man named Mr. Grimes. Mr. Grimes becomes Francis’s mentor and companion; he basically shows and teaches Francis everything he knows. Mr. Grimes has only one arm but he is still capable of doing anything that someone with two arms can do. The character Francis Tucket that Gary Paulsen put together is outstanding, he is very bold, confident, brave, and intrepid.
Whenever considering what amusement park you would like to attend to, you look for the one with the best rides, atmosphere, admission. Carowinds is a better amusement park than The Pavilion when considering types of rides, atmosphere, and cost of admission.
Of course there were a great many problems to work out. But once he felt he finally had his major problems solved, Hollingshead landed the financial backing needed for his venture. His major partner was Willie Warren Smith, also of Riverton. Smith was a cousin and operator of parking lots in Camden, New York, and Philadelphia. The two men formed a company they called Park-In Theaters, Inc. As soon as his patent was granted, Hollingshead assigned it to this company. Other backers in the venture included road contractor Edward Ellis, who graded the first drive-in in exchange for company stock; and Oliver Willets, a Campbell’s Soup vice president who bought stock in the new company.

When somebody thinks of a person that went against the world or changed it, some specific ones come to their mind like Abraham Lincoln or Martin Luther King Jr. These people fought for civil right. Though it was hard for them to overcome it, they had lots of support. John Wooden actually also was a famous person that was for civil rights. In 1947 his team was invited to the National Association of Intercollegiate Basketball National Tournament in Kansas. (Former) They said in the contract that no African Americans were allowed in the tournament, so John Wooden turned the offer down citing that the policy they used was unfair to a player on his team Clarence Walker. He stood ground for his African American player and also went against the world in another way. (Former) He went against the world of basketball. “The main ingredient of stardom is the rest of the team.” -John Wooden.(My Personal Best 23) This quote represents what John Wooden believed in, how he thought, and how he wanted people to act. He believed that hard-work was the only way to get things done. The world saw that he worked hard and did everything to the best he could, but they did not believe that he would become the greatest basketball coach of all time. John Wooden showed the world that he would try and succeed by working hard as a young child, making a new coaching technique, and breaking many records in basketball as a coach.
In 2012, the new CEO of Cedar Fair Entertainment announced a new Long Term Growth Strategic plan for the company. The plan is known as the FUNforward and financial goals for the Company. The CEO is headed in this direction because of the significant barriers to entry and a loyal high-repeated customer base as well as the significant momentum that they have created for the Company over the past two record-setting years (Rotting Flesh Radio RSS, 2012). For example, Kings Dominion is one of the largest theme parks on the East Coast and the loyalty of the younger generation is outstanding. The park is located in an area that is very convenient off of interstate 95. Most parents use the theme park as a baby sitter. They drop their kids off in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon after work. The park is so big and it caters to the younger generation and it adds a new ride every couple of years to make the park even more attractive to its customers.
I woke up early in the morning with pure excitement. Today, I was heading to Cedar Point with my long time close friend, Sarah. The sun was shining, it was the perfect mood to go to an amusement park. My mom and I drove through the flat cornfields of Ohio, to her farmhouse. Once I picked up Sarah, we were headed to America’s Rockin’ Roller-Coast also known as Cedar Point. Cedar Point is on a peninsula surrounded by the fresh waters of Lake Erie located . It's actually quite nice, if you don't include the often high winds which often force the employees to close the rides due to the high risk of liability and the frequent nats. The Dragster is sitting smack dab in the middle of the park's midway. The height makes the dragster something that you can’t miss, especially on the causeway.
Actions speak volumes louder than words and Leroy Satchel Paige is a man of his actions rather than his words. The Civil Rights Movement was one of the darkest times in American history but there were rays of lights that shined throughout it. Paige was a skilled ball player who used his antics to gain popularity amongst fans and gave him attention from onlookers. Although Paige was a skilled baseball player the racial events that were taking place during his playing time eye opening to say the least. Jim Crow laws were present and effective throughout the South and segregated a potentially great society. Phobia and pure hatred of a race caused many social figures such as Paige to make a stand for African-American rights.
The satirists shared a talent for making other individuals feel uncomfortable, particularly by making them aware of their own moral inadequacies. They used irony, derision, and wit to attack human vice or folly. One method the satirist utilized to catch their readers' attention, while also making them feel uncomfortable, was to describe those things that were deemed inappropriate to discuss openly in society. The classical example of a topic that was discussed behind closed doors, yet the satirist used freely, was sex. Mention of such things as sex can always bring a giggle, excite feelings of hidden passion, or make one's cheeks rosy from embarrassment. John Wilmot, Second Earl of Rochester, and Jonathan Swift, were two satirist that were noted for using perverse language and graphic depictions to elicit desired emotions from their readers and to wage their attacks on human folly.
