3 different attributes for EMT are communication skills, time management, and teamwork. When it comes to communication skills and delivering to other people, I make sure to make sure to give out clear, quick commands to other people and make sure it is also delivered to other people if it needs to be. As well, I have a complete understanding and completion of any command that could be given to me. Time management is key to being able to move quickly and be able to take care of things in a quick matter. When it comes to me being able to managing time and assessing things, i am able to balance my school life. There is more to being a medical assistant then just the skills that are required. In order for an individual to be a good medical assistant, they need to have good interpersonal skills. When it comes to being a medical assistant, you need to be a people person that is a given. Not only must you interact with people on a daily basis you need to be understanding, caring and nonjudgmental.
Another thing that is in the job description is EMT training is available in most states and is offered by the fire, police, and health departments. As an EMT you have to be able to stay calm under intense pressure, but you have to be quick in getting to the victim and giving the right care, and also you have to have the right personality to be an EMT if you are stuck up and have a rude attitude then an EMT in not the job for you.
Aside from personality traits and characteristics needed in this field, certified medical assistants also need to possess certain applied skills. One of the most important skills is communication skills and listening skills. Certified medical assistants must also be able to comprehend diagnoses and medical charts, and may be required to perform medical coding for the purpose of billing. Here are a few characteristics or traits you could have to make being a PT a lot easier. First is being compassionate for your patient and being concerned about their health. Detail oriented, being very observant when it comes to diagnosing a patient's needs and the treatments he or she may need. Being able to use your hands and feel comfortable massaging people and assist to their physical needs is called Dexterity. Interpersonal skills is also a great trait to have, according to bls.gov, “Because physical therapists spend a lot of time interacting with patients, they should enjoy working with people. They must clearly explain treatment programs, motivate patients, and listen to patients’ concerns in order to provide effective therapy.” Physical therapist spend a lot of time on there feet and they help patients do their exercises so physical stamina is a outstanding characteristic to have. Also according to bls.gov resourcefulness is a characteristic to have because, “Physical therapists customize treatment plans for patients. They must be flexible and adapt plans of care to meet the needs of each patient.” Lastly, time management skills, PT’s treat a lot of patients each day in order to give each patient the proper time he/or she needs and get other task done throughout the day you need great time management skills(“Summary”).
Working in the emergency department can be easily described as fast placed and at times hectic. Being aware of resource management and learning to prioritize patients are skills that are required to be learned quickly. Once a basic understanding and knowledge of these skills are acquired, nurses are able to build off of them and adapt them however they see fit.
