When planning an assessment, it is important that certain guidelines are followed in order to create an assessment that is fair. I have made use of the prescribed textbook as well as the CAPS document to formulate ten guidelines that are used to prepare assessment activities in my subject. The guidelines have been placed into the table below as well as a brief description/explanation of each.

Summative assessment – applied as a final assessment on a learning unit. It is used to determine whether learners are ready to progress to the next phase
Systemic evaluation – evaluates the appropriateness of the education system (eg. ANA)
There are multiple forms of assessment and the form chosen must correlate with the objective of the assessment (eg. Baseline or summative etc). Possible assessment forms are:
Observation-based – observation of classroom or groupwork interaction, observation of a practical demonstration
Self-assessment, peer and group assessment – assessing of their peers. According to CAPS this is an informal assessment and is not recorded.
Paper-based – tests, exams, case studies, assignments and research projects
Oral assessment – interviews, speeches, prepared and unprepared reading

Do you believe that because Canada is a multicultural society that there is no racism? While the idea of inclusion and buried racism is what one might hope for, the realities of Canada’s national policy when experienced is quiet opposite than the messages expressed though text and other media outlets. I would definitely take it upon myself to teach my Pre-K kids how to be digital citizens at their age. For the reason, that technology is so accessible that I would not be surprised if my students had access to IPads, phones, or a laptop. I would highlight the importance of getting their parents’ permission before accessing a website. Then I would teach them how to be safe online and to never share any personal information. I would do this by just simply talking to them and maybe showing some videos of a time a child was not demonstrating digital citizenship and the negative outcomes that occurred. The purpose of the higher level teaching assistant (HLTA) is to bridge the gap between the teaching assistant (TA) and teachers. By having a good level of understanding of how children learn, HLTA's can take responsibility for tasks that are detailed and specific under the direction of the teacher. By reviewing prior work, we are able to be more specific in any new research, reframe the concept approach from a different perspective, design and implement different methods, note the strengths and weaknesses of the research, and compare it to other research done by others. 2. Upon review of other research, the researcher will be able to identify areas that need adjustment in their initial hypothesis.
Through assessment students and teachers are able to determine the level of mastery a student has achieved with standards taught. Both formative and summative assessment should be purposeful and targeted to gain the most accurate data to drive further instruction (Ainsworth, 2010). While this syllabus does a good job of identifying the need for both formal and informal assessments, the way in which this is communicated does not provide enough detail for understanding. Simply listing assessment types does not give any insight into how these assessments fit in the learning process of this course. While some of the assessments mentioned could be common assessments chosen by the school or district to gain insight into the effectiveness of instruction, the inclusion of authentic assessments is most beneficial to students and demonstrates learning in a context closer to that of a work environment (Rovai, 2004). Unfortunately, this particular course, according to this syllabus, relies heavily on quizzes and traditional tests and essays to form the bulk of assessment opportunities. While other activities, such as formative assessments, journaling and discussions are mentioned as possible avenues for scoring, they are given a very low percentage of the overall grade. This shows that they are not valued for their ability to show progression and mastery. If this is indeed the case, this puts the students as a
