What are the effects of living in a dystopian future? Society today is made up of a mixture of personalities, some people from strong, independent families that know where they with financial security, over privileged people who have earned heaps of money and may not be aware of the hardships of those who are less fortunate and who try to live day by day. Throughout the four texts, ‘Hunger Games’ by Suzanne Collins, ‘Divergent’ by Veronica Roth, ‘Death Cure’ by James Dashner and ‘The Host’ by Stephenie Meyer, we see the recurring themes of isolation of minorities, decrease in the quantity of life, finding your identity and oppression of life seeking our future which creates many consequences. Populations are oppressed by governments or corporations so that they can try and control the citizens to get something they want. In the novel ‘Death Cure’ by James Dashner, we see this when a medical organisation trying to forced people to live in small climates to experiment ‘The cure’ to cure the sick people in the community. Thomas is the cure; however, he doesn’t believe in WICKED as he believes that they’re doing the wrong thing.” I don’t care what anybody tells me, I don’t care how many people go crazy and die, I don’t care if the whole shuck human race ends. Katniss thinks that that is wrong as human shouldn’t be treated like that. “Taking the kids from our districts, forcing them to kill one another while we watch- this is the Capitol's way of reminding us how total we are at their mercy. Katniss and Thomas show how if you believe in something, you need to stand up for what you believe in, to make a difference.
