The Multisystemic Therapy (MST) is a home-based treatment program developed by Henggler in 1970 that focuses on the factors of family and community. The program is intended to equip parents of troubled youth with tools to handle the difficulties of their behavior. The MST therapists work with the most difficult juveniles, male and female, between the ages of 12 and 17 who tend to have extensive criminal arrest histories. My interest in pursuing a doctorate degree in counseling psychology has been influenced by a combination of life experiences and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Though the path which has led me to this destination is complex, the journey has provided me with the clarity and insight necessary to understand human behavior from a holistic perspective. This has fueled my innate desire and motivation to continue challenging myself by attaining a doctorate degree from the University of North Texas.

The second unit for WRT 105 was Rhetorical Analysis. We spent a lot of time on this unit, not only because it was challenging, but also because it is very hard to analyze and write good rhetoric. We spent the first few classes understanding what exactly it is, how it works and a few tools that are necessary to understand. We did a lot of practice essays and most of our blog posts for those two weeks consisted of rhetorical analyses.

Ever since I was little I remember playing games where I would fight the bad guy and win the girl in the end. This never seem to affect me or make me wonder what small effect it had on my thought process. In games such as Zelda, call of duty, assassin creed, gears of war, Mario, and even halo you play as a white heterosexual male. The idea of playing this way never seemed to phase me as a young child. The lessons I’ve learned in UNI 220, have been paramount in my growth as a student. The class allowed for me to see that I wasn’t the only one dealing with these egregious feelings of self doubt. Consequently, being able to have open discussion in our class removed most of the angst and weight off my shoulders my proverbial shoulders. Before the semester began my outlook for my academic future was stark, I wasn’t sure how I was going to overcome the obstacles at hand. There is a great quote by John J. Beckley that states “Most people don’t plan to fail; they fail to plan.” I was a person without a game plan, and in desperate need of assistance. Luckily for me, the material we covered in UNI 220 provided valuable information that aided my mental
It was great talking to Daniel this week and chatting about some common issues that we have been encountering regarding understanding NVC/CC as well as the challenges of integrating it into our own lives.
