The Office’s objective in every episode is to put humor in a relatable setting to entertain the viewer. Each episode basically goes by the same format. A major event happens and then the audience gets to see how it affects an office setting with extreme people. The episode “Drug Testing” is mainly about Dwight finding illegal drugs in the parking lot and how it affects the office. The first plot is how Dwight found drugs in the parking lot and wanted to launch a full investigation, but his boss had drugs over the weekend and was unsure about it. The sub-plot was how Pam called a jinx on Jim and he had to watch Dwight go around being stupid without talking all day. It ends with Dwight giving clean urine to his boss so he won’t get in trouble …show more content…
Having no music can help the audience connect with the actual content of the show as opposed to distractions. Background music isn’t an everyday thing that everyone happens to have, or at least most people don’t. I personally have never seen someone walking through the hallway with music magically playing to express their mood. The only sound that was heard besides the actors was clicking on keyboards and printing of papers in the background, which can be related to a large portion of the audience, and more effectively shares the idea of it being a stereotypical boring workplace.
With no background music, it might lose their attention quicker than it might if there was, but the jokes were shot out so fast, that’s what caught the attention. They are all so simple and easy to pick up on it’s nice to not have to sit there and think forever to process a joke. Simple one-liners can easily do the trick of captivating an audience. The second sentence in the episode is Jim saying “Dwight finding drugs is more dangerous than most people using drugs.” It doesn’t have the pre-recorded audience laughing sound because the producers already know the people at home will already be doing it for
The sound effects and music for the play was recorded to go with the actions of the character’s and whatever was taking place on stage; for example, when Ian and Chuck would play a game since there was no television they needed sound effects to better depict them playing a game. The music used in the play was relevant to today’s period and fit in well with the scenes, like when Ian says he’s going to get a job the song “I’m going to win” fit in perfectly, because it showed his determination. They also used music to help...
The use of sound helped to create a story behind the scenes. The sounds of Drum’s gunfire and Ouiser’s dog barking create a humorous event outside of the set. This scene of family/neighborhood craziness is relatable to any audience member in some way and helped the audience to connect with the characters. The use of the radio at the beginning and end of each scene helped to establish a mood and in some cases a time change. It also worked as a signal to the audience when a scene was beginning or
The sounds of the shows are the atmosphere, if you think about any good quiz show and take away the music or the background sounds then it becomes less attractive and not as interesting any more. The reason being that we respond to visual stimulation better if we have audio stimulation to accompany it, they go hand-in-hand. There are once again comparable aspects to this part of the show, one of them being the frequency of the sound, in 'Millionaire' there is a variety of different music, the opening sequence music is used throughout, it is the trademark of the show, it was created to represent the image of the show. ' Weakest Link' has, other than the opening sequence music, just the two sound track. One is the dramatic music mentioned
...audience laugh and pay better attention to his primary message. O’Brien is basically conveying to the viewers, that he has been through the same struggles they face everyday.
The American version of The Office debuted in 2005 with the start of its six-episode first season. After the airing of the “Pilot” episode, a reviewer from the Deseret Morning News commented, “Maybe […] after The Office dies a quick death on NBC, the network will decide that trying to Americanize British TV comedies isn’t such a great idea” (quoted in Pilot (The Office)). Despite its original negative reception, The Office went on to run nine successful seasons and has become a television favorite of individuals across America. The show focuses on the misadventures of the lost souls employed at Dunder-Mifflin Scranton, a branch of a paper-selling company located in Pennsylvania. Under the management of clueless Michael Scott, characters such as Dwight Schrute, Jim Halpert, and Pam Beesly must hold their jobs in the corporate world while facing company failures, romantic encounters, and lost dreams. Despite their seemingly superficial appearance, the characters of The Office reflect complex ideas about morals, existence, and free will through their comical fallacies. The popular television show The Office demonstrates existential ideas such as Sartre’s “bad faith,” Kierkegaard’s stages of life, and the theater of the absurd.
Inappropriate drug use causes loss of responsibility, illnesses, marriage difficulties, shorter life spans, financial struggles, theft, accidents, lack of parenting, bad role models and more laws. Now I’m not saying all the problems are only do to drugs and if there was appropriate drug use our society would be perfect, no I’m saying drug use in our society has made an impact and in this case not for the better. The cost of inappropriate drug use to society is something that many overlook and others simply don’t care to recognize
Can we continue to support individuals who abuse their welfare benefits? The public assistance programs that were created in the United States of America during the 1930’s to provide a safety net for people living below the federal poverty line are being manipulated. Chemical dependency screenings and monthly account audits are currently needed to prevent wasteful spending to support welfare recipients who are using their benefits to purchase illegal drugs and alcohol. I believe drug testing applicants who apply for welfare should become mandatory to strengthen the integrity, accountability, and future health of America.
this point. This scene is about when Wendy looks though Jacks work and is scared though the
When the audience is listening to the audio joke, it feels natural and comedian says his jokes out loud without getting tongue-twisted. Comedians use quick sentences that audience get the point of the joke in as little time as possible. It makes them create an image in their minds of what comedian tell them and it helps to understand the joke more than in written way. Listening how Attell delivers lines of his joke, "I went to a sex store, and I was drunk. Never do that. I took one of those strap-on dildos, I put it on my head and started chasing people like a rhino. Oh, God. Oh my God! Everyone was laughing, except for the guy in the kilt. I don't know what happened, but I'm sorry." He uses his informal lexicon words to make the audience create an image of his joke and laugh more than in the written way. His intonation is changing all the time when he is making jokes. He uses first person and negative tone to make the audience laugh, and he is always talking to the audience to make the audience feel more comfortable and to get their
Before the actual performance began music was played. I thought nothing of it assuming it was music to simply hold the crowd. And also I under was the impression that this would end once the show began but to my surprise this featured music was ...
Illicit drug use in Australia is a serious health issue impacting young people. As a community we need to consider how we can protect young people from the harm of drug use, particularly at music festivals these being a popular social occasion for young people and an event where drug use is becoming more common. One way to protect young people from the dangers of drugs and to reduce harm is to ensure that drug checking and pill testing is mandatory at all Australian music festivals.

In order to protect these student’s future, drug tests must be enforced among all students ensuring a safe environment for students to learn successfully. Allowing random drug testing in high schools will shy away students from trying these harmful drugs. Students that become overwhelmed by these harmful drugs will ruin their lives forever, but if steered in the right direction they can be saved.

Also, music plays an important role in culture by being entertaining. Let's face it; people listen to music because it's exciting! It can affect a person's thoughts and feelings towards a particular subject, but not ultimately change their mind, which is what makes it so pleasurable. What else would put life in the world if music didn't? Music provides background music for almost everything in a person's everyday life. Try to imagine what television would be like without music. There would be no catchy jingles to stupid commercials that would end up getting stuck in your head for days and no theme songs to your favorite shows. Even a movie without sound would make you not want to watch it. Whether you think so or not, a soundtrack to a movie makes a person emote to the screenplay more- it makes you feel what the actors are feeling. That is what makes it so entertaining! If there were no songs to a movie, you might as well just not watch it at all. And what about a cell phone? How would you know when to pick up your phone if you didn't hear it ring your favorite song? Hearing that ring tone on a phone provides a small source of entertainment, but also serves a very important purpose.
