The Factors That Affect The Bounce of a Ball Introduction
The Ball Drop is an experiment used to prove whether if the height of a ball’s bounce can be affected by other factors such as a different drop height. The theory of energy transfer is applied to this experiment to understand how energy transfer occurs through the bounce of a ball. According to the Laws of Conservation of Energy, it states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, but is transformed to another type of energy. Energy is generated from the fall of the ball and the kinetic energy is transferred to elastic potential energy which reforms the ball when it collides with the surface. …show more content…

Step 4
The process was repeated again with height distances 150cm, 200cm and 250cm. A benchtop was used to reach the 250cm and the ball was dropped a total of five times and recorded by the camera.
Step 5
The average results were calculated and were recorded on the table.
Step 6
The average results were plotted on a line graph and was used to determine whether if the bounce height increased by the influence of the height dropped.

Results
The results showed that the bounce of the ball was affected by height drop when the height increased. The measurements of the experiment was recorded onto a table (shown below) and a total of five trials for each drop height. A line graph is used to record qualitative data and is used for this experiment as the collected data is numerical. The trials are calculated into averages and plotted onto the line graph.
