Dream College Search Los Angeles is my goal place to be when I graduate from high school. The weather, the amount of people in the city, the diversity of culture and types of people, the numerous amount of different opportunities, the famous landmarks, beaches, and so much more intrigue me. I chose the University of Southern California for my college research project. USC is located in Los Angeles and their campus looks really lovely which is a reason as to why I would like to possibly go to that university. Many people shoot for UCLA, it is one my list of colleges to go to, but not my first because many people strive to go there and I don’t usually like going somewhere where many people usually choose to go. There are many different programs, activities, and clubs you can join and participate in and I absolutely love communicating with new people and try new activities.
The University of Southern California states “The

Laundry facilities and lounges are available for use as well as workout areas and music practice rooms in a few buildings. Free internet and cable TV connections are given to all the residents. There are different housings for freshmen, grad students, and returning and transfer students. Officers patrol campus and housing buildings to protect property and residents. Blue light emergency phones are located all around campus for students who need to contact the department public safety. After researching and learning about USC, I have taken more of a liking for it, but I am not completely sure if I would want to go there for sure when I graduate from high
The historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) are fledgling to compete with Predominately White Institutions (PWIs). HBCU were established to serve the educational needs of black Americans. Before HBCU college was create blacks were generally was denied admission to traditionally all white institutions. Since black Americans was prohibited from whites schools HBCUs became the principle means for providing postsecondary education. There are several reasons why all blacks’ schools does not compete with predominately white schools. HBCU’s most of the time do not keep their accreditation, their tests scores are very low, and do not get as much funding
The right and privilege to higher education in today’s society teeters like the scales of justice. In reading Andrew Delbanco’s, “College: What It Was, Is, and Should Be, it is apparent that Delbanco believes that the main role of college is to accommodate that needs of all students in providing opportunities to discover individual passions and dreams while furthering and enhancing the economic strength of the nation. Additionally, Delbanco also views college as more than just a time to prepare for a job in the future but a way in which students and young adults can prepare for their future lives so they are meaningful and purposeful. Even more important is the role that college will play in helping and guiding students to learn how to accept alternate point of views and the importance that differing views play in a democratic society. With that said, the issue is not the importance that higher education plays in society, but exactly who should pay the costly price tag of higher education is a raging debate in all social classes, cultures, socioeconomic groups and races.
I believe that Southern California is a great place to visit because of the great weather and the beautiful and fun attractions to visit. This would be a great place for a vacation. I might be a little bit biased since on May 17, 1995, I was born in Southern California and lived there for the first 10 years of my life. I have many fond memories of the Sunshine State.
Going to college is a big step in a young person’s life. That is why when going to college; one should know which college they would like to go to. For me personally, the college of my dreams is Louisiana State University. The top three majors at Louisiana State University are Biology, Biomedical engineering, and Business. The main reason I want to go to Louisiana State University is because of their amazing biology department .The main things that caught my attention about Louisiana State University, was how flexible I could be with my money, it isn’t that hard to apply and the admission process is pretty doable, and the campus life is interesting with many clubs and organizations that I could join.
The first benefit of attending community college is their ability to easily transition every type of student into the school. Think back to the picture of the single mom, let’s call her Sarah. Sarah hasn 't been to school in over 10 years. She married soon after high school and her husband took care of her and her family, now she is on her own and wondering how to support her family with only a high school diploma. Community college offers...
Cal Poly Pomona is best known for their engineering and their business. Cal Poly Pomona is also a very affordable school for me and it is very close to home. Another pro about the college is that it has a beautiful campus, horses, gardens, ponds, hikes, hills, vistas and many other geographical things. When you may be stressed or you are just sad you can go out for a while and take a hike or maybe just look at the nature there. Personally for me, I love nature because it makes my stress go away. Some of the cons of this college is the neighborhood. It is in a quiet part of town and close to Diamond Bar and Walnut, but the school needs more commercial activity immediately across and walking distance to campus. You currently have to drive to do anything. You cannot walk or else you get really tired .Looking at this college and how it is advertised my point of view of this college is that the cons don’t really matter because we can easily
Universities in California, especially UC Berkley and University of Southern California are ranked so high in the nation that foreign students yearn to study in California in order to get more chances to work in well-known companies such as Apple and Silicon Valley. The quality of schools and education people can get decides how many chances and how many possibilities to be close to success. According to Jennifer Medina, “During a 1960s renaissance, California’s public university system came to be seen as a model for the rest of the country and an economic engine for the state”. The uniquely structured California education system, which provides students with higher education and convenient transfer, attracts an increasing rate of foreign students intend to get education in California instead of other states. Those foreign students, who are not qualified to get into UC or cannot afford such high tuitions, can apply to CSU or CCC at the beginning, and then transfer to UC which is most students’ dream school. Despite the advantages of the California education system enjoys, the extreme budget cuts, growth tuition and increasing population however overturn what foreign students imagined about universities in California, and the result is that most foreign students cannot realize their California dreams about education in California.
St. Petersburg College (SPC) is a large multi campus college that was found in 1927 as a private, nonprofit, two-year college. Many colleges provide resources for students to try and help them to be successful. Universities normally have more resources to offer students compared to community colleges. Resources may be available depending on the budget that the school can use for student development. Resources can be in the form of tutoring, counselors, math and science labs, and advising.
I am a cocoon still on the verge of transformation. In order for me to transform myself into something beautiful, there are many processes and steps that need to play a part. NJ LEEP’s College Bound Program can help me improve the person I am regarding work ethic, creativity, articulation, etc. Due to this program, I will obtain a greater understanding on how to manage my time wisely, think in a different way from other people, and speak in an elegant way. In addition, it can help me gain more knowledge and have a greater understanding in life. I am able to acquire life experiences, as well. I realized that through my five years in Harrison, I had not been introduced to the actual world. I am in an enclosed, giant bubble called Harrison. Due to this, I never had the opportunity to experience how the real world is and meet new people unless I make changes into my life. Harrison might not be able to offer me many chances. However, NJ LEEP will. Nonetheless, this program will allow me to overcome multiple fears that I could never been able to overcome before, such as public speaking. NJ LEEP is only my first step to achieve greatness and success.
In the two episodes of fieldwork and interview conducted, I found that there was a lot of diversity; people from different backgrounds, ages, genders, hobbies, family lives and situations, and so on. Those who attend SF state usually have a clear vision of the career field that they want to or at least an idea. In order for them to go to college, they need to have a source of income whether it be from their parents if they are lucky or from their own job that they may have. If they have a job, it is both good and important for them to
Free community college can be beneficial for the majority of American students. Personally, it affects me because I am a college student and having to work and go to college at the same time can be stressful. Work to pay for a college tuition can lead the student to an anxiety, which can lead to dropping letters grades in a specific class.
Many schools (universities/colleges) are incessantly evaluating tuition cost to ensure that they are providing the highest services educationally. The college presidents/leaders, as well as administrators, have to seriously consider and decide on how high or low tuition fee much be set and if it aligns with the goals of the university’s/college’s. Tuition emolument is an essential component for operating an establishment and also plays a vital role in the decision of a student registration (enrollment). Tuition fee also has a significant effect on the income/revenue of a college/university. The university has to estimate the outcome on the entire revenue received if they decide to increase or decrease tuition. In this paper, you will be provided
I looked at housing first. Obviously, I will need a place to live. I will be 24-25 by the time I get my Master’s, so one of the last things I want is to move back in with either of my parents. I researched apartments in Los Angeles, California. One of my dreams is to live next to the ocean. I have already lived in Florida, but I would love new scenery for whe...
Sara, who is a third-year Cal Poly Pomona student who commutes from San Dimas, about 7 miles from Cal Poly Pomona, answered yes due to the social benefit of living on campus. She explained that living on campus would provide instant friendship with roommate or dorm mates, which she did not experience during her freshmen year of college. She also believed that having to share a lot of things with people who are going under similar challenges as oneself in the college dorms is a part of the college experience. However, Kevin, who is a graduate student commuting from Pomona, 10 minutes from Cal Poly Pomona, answered he would not spend the money to dorm during his freshman year of college because it “involves living with people which I cannot tolerate because I have a high price with my personal time” (Kevin) The answers from the upperclassman college students conflicted with each other.
