Drama Monologue Velocity vs. Viscosity
Insanity comes in two basic varieties: slow and fast.
I'm not talking about onset or duration. I mean the quality of the
insanity. The day to day business of being a head case.
There are lots of names I guess: depression, catatonia, mania,
anxiety, agitation. They don't really tell you much though do they?
The predominant quality of the slow form in viscosity.
Experience is thick. Perceptions are thickened and dulled. Time is
slow, dripping slowly through the clogged filter of thickened
perception. The body temperature is low. The pulse is sluggish. The
immune system is half asleep. The organism is torpid and brackish.
Even the reflexes are diminished, as if the lower leg couldn't be
bothered to jerk itself out of stupor when the knee is tapped.
Viscosity occurs on a cellular level. And so does velocity.
In contrast to viscosity's cellular coma, velocity endows every
platelet and muscle fibre with a mind of its own, a means of knowing
and commenting on its own behaviour. There is too much perception, and
beyond the plethora of perceptions, the plethora of thoughts about the
perceptions and about the fact of having perceptions. Digestion could
kill you! What I mean is the unceasing awareness of the processes of
digestion could exhaust you to death. And digestion is just an
involuntary sideline to thinking, which is where the real trouble
begins.
Take a thought - anything. I doesn't matter. For example - I'm tired
of sitting here in front of the nurses station. I perfectly reasonable
thought. Here's what velocity does to it.
First break down the sentence. 'I'm tired' - well, are you really
tired, exactly? Is that, like, sleepy? You have to check all body
parts for sleepiness, and while you're doing that , there's a
bombardment of images of sleepiness along these lines: head falling
onto pillow, head hitting pillow, Wynken, Blynken and Nod, Little Nemo
rubbing sleep from his eyes, a sea monster. Uh-oh, a sea monster. If
you're lucky you can avoid the sea monster and stick with sleepiness.
Back to the pillow, memories of having mumps aged five, sensation of
swollen cheeks on pillows and pain of salivation - stop. Go back to
sleepiness.
But the salivation notion is too alluring, and now there's an
excursion into the mouth. You've been here before and it's bad. It's
the tongue: once you think of the tongue it becomes an intrusion. Why
is the tongue so large? Why is it so scratchy on the sides? Is that a
vitamin deficiency? Could you remove the tongue? Would your mouth be
less of a bitch without it?
wake up, that she will awake the wrong time or that it will just not
Have you ever wanted to be a doctor? Do you like kids? Well if you answered yes to these questions a pediatrician would be a great career choice for you.
Marcus’s life has been flipped upside down. Last month, his father passed away in a car accident. Yesterday, a strange girl showed up on his front porch. He opened the door to his father’s home, which he had recently inherited. There stood a 5’6” girl with dyed black hair, ripped jeans, familiar ice blue colored eyes with a junker puttering in the driveway. Those eyes reminded him of someone‒his father. They just stared at each other for a few moments before she blurted, “Uhh, I think I am your sister.”
If you are looking for a job in the medical field, but also would like to work with children, pediatrics could be a great option. The reason I wanted to research this career is because I find medicine very interesting, but I would also like to work with kids. I realized I would like to work with kids when I was about ten. Ever since I started babysitting, I have really enjoyed spending time with children. Lately I have really enjoyed learning about medicine and all the careers in the medical field. In this paper I will be touching on a few areas, such as what pediatricians do, how much they get paid and the demand for this job, and the classes required.
A Pediatrician is a child’s physician, dealing with the physical, mental, and emotional well being of the child. You undoubtedly have to have a strong love for children and have patience to be a Pediatrician. If you don’t like children then it is apparent being a Pediatrician is not the job for you. I have dreamed of being a Pediatrician since I was 7 years old, ever since I was rushed to the emergency room for an accident I had. I remember how the doctor interacted with me; he introduced himself, and he explained what a Pediatrician did. He told me step by step what he was doing, as he was doing it, and how he was going to do it. From then is when I realized that doctors were not scary, and since that day I have dreamed of becoming a doctor, of course until now. I love children very much, and I would absolutely love to have a career involving them. Being a doctor is basically everyone’s dream at one point, mine just stuck with me throughout the years. Now put being a doctor and children together and that sounds like a perfect job to have. Interacting with different kids and babies’ daily would be such a joy. Before I did research on this career, I thought it was going to be simple and an easy way to earn money. That is when I then found out after you complete 11 years of college, every year you have to continue to take a test, and have an excellent score. By the time I would be finishing 11 years of college I would be almost 28, maybe 29, years old, and I would just be starting my career. I would have to pay thousands of dollars of college debt before I would be making any real money.
scaling, excessively dry, red rash that itches intensely. Red patches consume much of the skins
Some say this job is easy, but they don’t live the life of a pediatrician. They say all they do is examine and determine problems that may exist within children. Really, pediatricians do a lot more, such as communicate with parents or social workers if they believe there is a problem within the family or order test if necessary. (Field, Shelly) They also recommend treatment, types of medication, surgery, and rehabilitation. (Career Cruising) Lots of pediatricians get involved with their patients by helping them through tough times, such as puberty or family problems. They help by assisting them when they need to communicate with a social worker, family member, or any other health care worker. (Career Cruising) Pediatricians mainly encounter diseases and other problems such as allergies, asthma, drug abuse, lead poisoning, and acne because doctors usually catch these things in the younger stages of life. bite me? No, it just licked my cheek. Even before it finished licking my cheek,
“The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” is a poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge which tells the tale of an old mariner whose ship was trapped in an icy storm. After being driven too far south by the storm, the crew welcomed an albatross that flew by as a good omen. All of the crew seemed to love the albatross, until one day the Mariner shot the beloved bird down with a crossbow. Just one mystery plagues this ancient tale of crime and penance: why did the Mariner feel compelled to kill? I believe that it was jealousy and a need for control that convinced the Mariner to kill the albatross.
I’ve spent awhile trying to figure out where I’m going and the only thing I’ve realize is it doesn’t matter, it’s how I get there. I’ve been strolling the area and scraping for food. It’s not easy. My surrounding does not feel the same. I try to overcome boundaries but I always think something’s holding me back. Maybe it’s me or the fact that outside is like the walking dead. I feel like a living corpse, I’ve been around them so long! I think I’m paranoid. I wish that all my problems would vanish, but all my effects seem to be futile. I am wasting energy thinking I’m okay. I feel like I’m suffering ng from the lack of food. I can’t maintain my sanity. The little time gain from escaping those zombies has offset the anger which I have been holding
Tuberculosis, a sometimes crippling and deadly disease, is on the rise and is revisiting both the developed and developing world. The global epidemic is growing and becoming more dangerous. The breakdown in health services, the spread of HIV/AIDS and the emergence of multi drug-resistant TB are contributing to the worsening impact of this disease. Overall, one-third of the world's population is currently infected with the TB bacillus.
What is a pediatrician, exactly? A pediatrician is medical doctor who manages the physical, behavioral, and mental health of children from birth until age 21. Becoming a pediatrician gives a person an opportunity to become something people are not. The person pursuing their job will train to diagnose and treat a huge range of childhood illnesses from minor health problems to serious diseases. The excitement of helping children and adolescents will set in after their first few appointments and then they can become a real professional in their jobs. As their job grows, they will find that it only becomes easier when they adapt to the routine and with little surprises along the way. The salary at first will not be what the student pursuing the job expected, but it will grow as the experience also grows. A career in medicine is rewarding for people with patience and those who enjoy helping young children, because pediatricians are doctors who specialize in caring and checking up on children.
Most types of mycobacteria develop a rope like structured bacteria. Types in its Mycobacterium tuberculosis have a genetically configured to specially to transmit a disease to human. Mycobacterium tuberculosis most commonly attacks the lungs, but tuberculosis germs can infect any body part. Mycobacterium tuberculosis is a pathogenic bacterial form of species within the family of Mycobacteriaceae. Tuberculosis can be found mostly in Africa and Southern Asia this is because they are a poor and undeveloped country.
As part of my study in Admission, Transfer and Discharge I will discuss on my essay regarding Admission of patient with an infectious disease namely tuberculosis. Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by various strains of mycobacteria, usually mycobacterium tuberculosis. Tuberculosis typically attacks the lungs, and spreads through the air. An individual who have active tuberculosis transmits the infection through the air by coughing, and sneezing. The most common symptoms of active tuberculosis are persistent cough of more than three weeks that brings blood-tinged sputum, night sweats, lack of appetite and weight loss, breathlessness which is usually mild to begin with and gradually gets worse and an extreme fatigue with unexplained pain. The ratio of tuberculosis is very high among the high risks groups, particularly the elders, smokers and those with compromised immune systems such as people living with HIV, malnutrition and diabetes.
As a child, if you had ever felt sick, your mom probably took you to see a pediatrician. Pediatricians are doctors who work to diagnose, treat, and manage a child's illness. Pediatricians work with both the child, and the parents of the child, informing them of the illness they are dealing with. They spend their days talking to the patients, their parents, and many others from different medical fields. This career interests me because of my desire to help and work with children. Being a pediatrician is something I see myself investing my time and efforts into. Most importantly, when I got home from work, I would love to say that I made someone’s day by helping them and that I saved a life.
