“Sometimes it's the journey that teaches you a lot about your destination.”(Drake). This quote trying to explain how wherever you go in you life you will always learn new things and eventually you will find you destination and everything will end up being ok. Drake was an important figure in American history because he became the first unsigned Canadian rapper to have his music video featured on BETs and Drake is only the second artist to have his first two top ten hits in the same week. And lastly Drake has also proven to people that he has never gave up with his career and that he will try not to let anyone down his music and try his best to keep himself and everyone happy with his music career so he can continue to live his dream and continue …show more content…
Some people that has inspired Drake are Leonardo DiCaprio and rocker Jimi Hendrix. Drake has stated "I like the way Leonardo DiCaprio carries himself and how much he loves his work. That is something that I hope to accomplish. I don't think I love my work…” (Drake) Second would be Jimi Hendrix, “I love how he just performed under pressure…” (Drake) Third would be Jay-Z. “Everything about Jay, how long he has been in the game as a rapper, you know how intelligent he is, you know who he is married to…” (Drake) Fourth, I would have to say, in my life, I would have to attribute Kanye West with a lot of inspiration…And last I would have to say Andre from OutKast. A writer has wrote a profile about Drake and it has stated that “Drake also seeks to establish a set schedule, and would rather do hard work and work long hours to build a business or career than search for "get rich quick" type of schemes. He also is known to have great potential for success, but only after putting out effort and overcoming the limitations he so often encounters.”(Brian). This quotes is trying to explain how Drake is not all in it for the money and how he works hard for his money and to be successful in life and never gave up. I can apply those lessons by me trying to achieve my goals which I complete college get my degree in health science and then go to school for another 2-3 years so I can get my doctorate and eventually become a physical therapist for the disabled and ill children and adults so I will take and remember how Drake has never gave up while he was a child and even today and that means I should not give up. Also I have a little similarity with Drake because he is a sweet and down to earth person and so am I which is why I am becoming a physical therapist so I can help people out and try my best to make others happy.Drake makes a perfect person for someone to look up to because he has never gave up and always continued with his career no matter what happened to him
Reality melted around me as I poured through album reviews and rankings, seeing the amount of praise and reverence his work holds, I was blown away. I watched interviews from artists I’d been a fan of for years, claiming that Kanye was their inspiration. I read analysis pinpointing how each of his albums opened up new sub genres in hip hop, how he completely changed the stigmatism of the art, allowing for new creative freedom, opening the doors for artists like Drake, Tyler the Creator and Chance the Rapper just to name a few. He had been right under the surface all along. He paved the way for my generation of artists to walk on, and I had been blissfully ignorant, skipping along his path.
Kanye Omari West, rapper, producer, professional celebrity, and with an ego to match, has forced himself into the limelight of the music industry. Kanye West has made a lasting impression on all of those around him, whether it be a good one or bad. With seven full length albums, a multimillion record label company, and a successful fashion business all under his belt, it’s fair to say that Kanye has done his fair share of creating. Over the last twelve years Kanye went from a young Chicago kid just trying to get his flows off, to one of the most decorated musicians of all time. With over 20 Grammy’s and 3 of his albums ending up on the Rolling stones “500 greatest albums of all time”. He has continuously created, entertained, and spoken his mind for years. Whether it be “George Bush does not care about black people” or “Taylor imma let you finish, but Beyoncé had
Natural talent doesn’t lead the person to success, but it’s the combination of nurturing and favorable events that will make the him/her “successful”.
People who put in hard work to be the best get the most glory from it as well,Lorde sing “we don't care / were driving Cadillacs in our dreams” telling us that the boy is determined to become successful. Lorde then continues to sing “My friends and I we've cracked the code” where Lorde supports her claim that the people in your life are more important that riches and fame and even if your dreams don't come true you are still in control to make your life awesome given the situation you're
His upbringing is one of an average american citizen. Being raised by his mother Donda West was a English professor lead to him living an average life. His parents divorced when he was very young. Showing interests in the ars at a very young age is something that kept promise. He took under the wing of DJ No I,D at the young age of 15, here is where he learned how to sample and mix beats.Kanye Graduated High School with decent grades and was off to Chicago State University.. He began dropped out of College at the age of 20 to focus on his music as opposed to what he was majoring which was English. He made it big by producing a majority of the songs on rapper Jay Z’s “The Blueprint”. He was still looked down upon as only a producer and not a artist. This was because he came from an a middle class upbringing. The Industry did not see him to fit in with Gangster Rap during that time period. While making his first debut album he Kanye West fell asleep behind the wheel and got into a serious car crash on which he almost died.Kanye West still worked on the album in the hospital, requesting a drum machine to be brought to the hospital. Here he recorded his his single on his First album “Through the Wire” rapping with his mouth wired shut from surgery, From his Debut album “The College Dropout” Kanye West changed the innovated the style of Hip-Hop. Annie Dillard, a Pulitzer Prize winner and writer, says, “If he noticed how he felt, he could not have done the work” (Dillard). She is referring to Dave Rahm, a stunt pilot who seemed to love his work. After Annie had took a flight with him, she had realized that he was not as passionate about being a stunt pilot as everyone thought. Many people can be fond of their type of work, but someday they will realize they are not happy with it. I know someone personally who had a great career, and decided they were not happy and quit. Also, many people would consider Dave Rahm to have a dream job, but it shows that someone can not be happy unless they are passionate about their work. Likewise, Thomas Carlyle believes that an individual’s passion will be calling. Carlyle says, “He has a work, a life-purpose; he has found it, and will follow it!” (Carlyle). This is a great representation of the point Annie Dillard is trying to get across. Thomas Carlyle is saying that through life a man has to find his life purpose and the reason he walks the Earth. This article is a perfect example of someone quits everything just to find their professional calling in life. Although he believes you should find your passion, Carlyle also says, “an endless significance lies in Work; a man perfects himself by working” (Carlyle). By saying this, Thomas means that a person has to find
He received a boom box for his birthday one year and from there, the rest is history. Jay-Z is one of the most talented rapper alive. Many rappers including J. Cole and Kanye West idolize him. His songs paint pictures and tell stories. He uses his past experiences as the base of many of his rhymes. Every line of every verse has a detailed meaning. Jay-Z used his musical gift to create initial success and wealth for himself. However the one part that is often overlooked is the countless hours he spends working and perfecting his craft. Jay-Z’s process for recording is unlike most. Ever since then Jay-Z decided not to write down any of his lyrics; he has memorized every line of every song he has recorded, making his style even more unique. He has released 12 studio albums and every single one has sold over a million copies, making them certified platinum albums. As a result, Jay-Z has been nominated for several Grammy Awards, while winning 21 of them. Jay-Z has performed at many major events including President Obama’s rally in 2012, as well as his popular music festival entitled “Made in America” just this year. Jay-Z has sold out shows all over the world, including New Yorks very own Madison Square Garden and Barclays Arena. There have been many great musical talents to emerge from Brooklyn, however none of them have been as skilled and crafty as Jay-Z. Jay-Z’s music success as a rapper alone arguably deems him the King of New
Eminem a Detroit kid rapping in just a whole in the wall place with a ambition to make it in a rap career when everyone in his family counting on him, but nobody believing in him. He was one of the only white rappers in a black community growing up and trying to make it. “What comes around goes around” is a quote from eminem when people would try to bring him down and not believe in him anymore. eminem has changed the era of white rappers before him there were no good white rappers and he is still very successful today as a rapper. eminem uses his daughter as motivation a lot and raps about her in most if not every one of his songs. Growing up for biggie wasn't much different, he had gang members trying to fight him everyday because of the life that he chosen. It was...
Tupac was one of the most notorious and influential celebrities of the 90s and today still. He sold over 75 million albums worldwide, reaching Spain, Brazil, South Africa, and all corners of America. His career was filled with controversy and luxury just the same. As a rapper, a poet, an activist, and an actor, Tupac gained many fans, and also enemies. Tupac’s down-to-earth personality, talent and relatable music allowed him to become one of the top icons of the rap industry.
He may just seem like another rapper to you but if you actually listen to his lyrics you can see he’s not like any rapper out there. His name is Kanye West and he was born in Chicago Illinois. He grew up in the “ghetto” and learned to appreciate life. He didn’t learn to really, truly appreciate life until October of 2002. Driving back to his hotel late one night after a recording session, the new-coming rap/hip-hop artist was involved in a devastating, near fatal car accident. The crash left him with a broken jaw in three places and an appreciation for life. Just weeks after being released from the hospital he recorded his first major hit, “Through the Wire,” with his mouth still wired shut. He records every song like its going to be his last song and that makes every song better than the last. He’s not only a rap artist but also a producer. He has been responsible for being behind songs like Jay-Z’s Izzo, Girls, Girls, Girls, The Takeover, and 03 Bonnie and Clyde.
Throughout Drake’s musical career, the theme he raps about the most is the male/female relationship. As I referenced it before the relationship between men and women is one of the pillars of rap. His most commercially successful and loved songs are about the relationships he’s had with a woman. Instead of talking about selling drugs or violent lyrics, Drake raps about his love of women and the relationships he has with him. He talks about the mistakes he’s made in the relationship one song in particular “Sooner than Later” he talks about how he has this girl he loves but let’s her get away from him and doesn’t realize it until she’s gone when he raps, “I forgot to call on your birthday/ You swear you’re the last thing on my mind, yeah/ There
Many white rappers have had a difficult time making it in the black industry of rap. Eminem, the most recent white rapper to hit the mainstream has had his own share of difficulties in this industry and in his life as well. The poem written my Marshall Mathers, now known as Eminem, entitled "Life," displays Eminem's views on his life, and just life in general. Eminem has continued on the legacy of the contact zone between the white men in the black man's industry, this being rap.
Drake, some people may call him the legend of rap music. Drake released his first album in 2006, and he has been dropping songs ever since. Drake released his hit “God’s Plan” earlier this year, and it blew up. What he decided to do after the release was simply amazing. Drake is an influential role model of generosity and charity through his actions of donating to schools funds, donating to Women in poverty, and funding for school programs.
Moreover, this concept of free will and becoming financially self-reliant is still prevalent in modern society. The mid-twentieth (20th) to the early twenty-first (21st) century has become the age of entrepreneurship, where peoples from all nations no longer desire to work “for the man” but create their own legacy of prosperity. Likewise, it is a period in time that has redefined the way in which those from all walks of life can obtain success and wealth. Hence, the evolution of reality TV stars, YouTube sensations and rappers from being ordinary individuals to becoming fashion designers, actors and CEOs. However, our definition of success is not only defined by wealth it also includes having a life of meaning that is similar to that of Dr. Martin Luther king Jr. and Malcolm X. Certainly, I am speaking of a life that encompasses the ability to change our world for the better.
