Marvel the only word you hear these days.You’ve probably heard of the popular heros : Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk. Discarding them, have you heard of Thor Ragnarok and Dr. Strange. They are both interesting to learn about. They have many similarities and differences. Thor and Dr. Strange are totally different but same at the same time. Dr. Strange is an interesting character to start with, so let's begin. Dr. Stephen P. Strange is a average doctor with all his luxury. His life is normal until he gets partially paralyzed in a car accident. He has to learn to use magic instead of his hands, which kept trembling. I think this movie had more background story than action. Thor is the god of thunder who lived in asgard. The movie is about Thor’s
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: the Lightning Thief the movie is about a young boy who has just discovered that he is a demi-god Percy Jackson. His father is Poseidon and his mother has been keeping it from him for many years. There is a lightning bolt that is stolen from Zeus on Mt. Olympus and Zeus believes that Percy has stolen it and demands its return by the summer solstice. In the mean time Percy gets attacked by multiple magical and mythological beings. There is a camp that demi-gods are safe from these things which is where Percy’s mother and his protector, Grover, take him to. This is where Percy’s journey begins. After a few days of being at the camp he realizes what he has to do. His mother was taken by Hades to the underworld and Percy has to save her all while trying to prove to Zeus that he did not steal the Lighting bolt.
Since Marvel’s booming popularity in the 1960s, Lee has found himself the figurehead and public representative of the company.
The Lightning Thief is about Percy Jackson, a 12 year old boy who has troubles at home (violent step father) and troubles at school (dealing with ADHD). During what seems like another normal day, he's attacked by his math teacher, only to learn that she is a monster called a harpy. Things only get crazier when he is saved by his best friend Grover, who reveal he himself is not human either, but is in fact a satyr, a creature from Greek myths. Percy learns of a world he never knew existed. He is in fact the son of the Greek god Poseidon, and he is what is called a demi god, half god and half human. Grover takes Percy to Camp Half-Blood, a safe haven for demi gods that are hunted by monsters. There he meets other half bloods, like the daughter
Thor and Loki: The Tenth Realm tells the story of two siblings Thor and Loki, who go on a quest for their recently divulged sister and the tenth realm, also known as Heaven. The author deploys elaborate, illustrative graphics combined with a broad range of stylistic features to gradually unfold the makings of this narrative. Ordinarily, men are projected as the physically superior gender with their monstrous muscles and prodigious size; women are no compeer with their dainty proportions and paucity muscle mass. However according to Kimmel, "… we should not pretend that just because males are overwhelmingly more likely to commit an act of violence or a crime, women never do so" (Kimmel 8). In fact, this modern Viking text exemplifies this idea with associating women with belligerence and masculinity. Therefore the roles of gender illustrated in this

Marvel has been releasing blockbuster after blockbuster for over the last decade. Marvel movies have action, a great story line, and even some comedy. Some of my favorite movies that Marvel has released are: the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and the Amazing Spiderman. DC movies, on the other hand, are awful and boring. Most of them don’t have a story line, they’re slow in telling the superheros story, and they aren’t based off the comics. Some disappointing DC movies that I thought would be great but weren’t: Green Lantern, Man of Steel, and the Dark Knight Rises. While the future of Marvel movies are looking bright (Dr. Strange, Captain America 3), the DC movies will probably crash and burn (Batman vs Superman, Suicide
True to the namesake of the film, Thor is the protagonist. The biggest change Thor faces in this film is that he now a clean-shaven blonde instead of a bearded red-head. Aside from physical appearances, Thor’s personality as a god is similar to the Thor in Norse mythology. As exemplified in the Lay of Thrym, Thor travels to Jotunheim with Loki and several other gods, although this time he is not dressed as a woman and he carries Mjolnir with him. In the film, Loki appears to act as a voice of reason by attempting to deescalate Thor’s impending anger towards the Giants recent trespassing into Asgard. Despite there being a supposed truce between Laufey, leader of the Giants, and Odin, Thor does not condone the Giant’s actions and wishes to wage war. This parallels Loki’s sentiments at the end of Lokasenna where he states, “I will go outside for you alone, because I know that you will fight [or kill]” (Acker 180), demonstrating Thor’s impulsiveness and perceived violent
Every child in the United States has heard or read the Marvel and DC comics books. If you have not then you have probably have heard of their characters like the famous star spangled hero, Captain America, or the Dark Knight himself, Batman. Both Marvel and DC has influenced the children and adults of American in its darkest times. The great wars affected many by its poisonous grasps, and its victims sought comfort with the antidote provided by the marvelous illustrators and writers of comic books. Now their cinematic counterparts are here to inspire the 21st century. The Marvel and DC cinematic universes have similar content, they both have unique characteristics that set them apart.
... of light, and was to be chained to a rock in the world underneath a giant serpent who continually drips venom that causes Loki to writhe in agony but when Ragnarok arrives, Loki will be set free to wreak havoc on the world once more (McMahon).
In the world of comics, two main publishers dominate: DC Comics and Marvel Comics. DC Comics promotes superheroes such as Batman, a vigilante who began fighting crime solely to avenge the untimely death of his parents. He possesses no unique superhuman ability, other than a substantial fortune inherited from his late parents. Yet, the public in the Batman comics still adore their hero. In contrast, Marvel Comics promotes superheroes such as the X-Men, a team of superheroes who possess the X-Gene, a DNA mutation that gives each member a different ability.
He has become the father of Marvel and has true fans looking for his cameo in every Marvel film. Unlike DC, Marvel has a lighter tone to their movies. MCU movies have more witty humor in them. For example, films such as Guardians of the Galaxy and Deadpool are action-packed, but they still have a lot comic relief. Also, Marvel uses more real locations and city names than DC. For example, Ant-Man, X-Men, Avengers, Spider-Man, Daredevil, and the Fantastic Four are all headquartered in New York. Although they have some fictional locations such as Asgard, Wauconda, and Sokovia, most are real places. The villains are also very different. Their background or motives are varied. Villains in Marvel are usually motivated by revenge, greed, or lost hope in the world. Lastly, Marvel differs from DC by the way heroes get their powers if they have any. Most of the heroes got their powers by accident. For example, a radioactive spider bit Spider-man; the hulk was exposed to radiation;
Thor is the Norse God of Thunder. He is also a Deity of lightning, storms, Oak trees, farmers, fertility, strength, destruction, healing and death. Thor is also a protector of mankind and is very loyal to his father Odin and the Aesir Gods. In the past, he came to their defence any time it was needed, no matter how far away he was or what else he was doing. His family always comes first.
A familiar, sinister voice reveled in Thor's shame, murmuring of the limitless possibility that was suddenly within Loki's grasp. Oh yes, the change was palpable, unmistakable in the hot fury in their father's eyes as he raged at his favorite son. And it was there in Loki's own weak protest, one he knew to be futile before it ever escaped his lips.
Strange’s journey, though very unrealistic on the surface, is driven by his previous experiences as he tries to make sense of his new reality. “This story of Strange's rise to power could take place in any era”(Nicholson). This journey from being a brilliant surgeon, to being a broken man, to being sorcerer supreme could easily be viewed as a proponent to prove that Doctor Strange is a movie in the romanticism movement. However after taking a closer look at Strange’s motivations “as his livelihood, love-life, and psyche disintegrate around him, he exhausts pretty much every medical avenue available in search of a remedy, to no avail” (McGrath), this leads to him becoming the sorcerer supreme, even though the actions are the efforts of an everyday egocentric man, who only wants to return to his former glory. Strange is an everyday man who does extraordinary things only because he is motivated by realistic factors to obtain the goal every person wishes to
Odin is the ruler of the gods in Norse mythology. He was stuck by his own spear pinned to the World Tree. There he learned nine songs and eighteen runes. Odin lives in Asgard; from his throne he observes everything that happens in the nine worlds. Valhalla is a hall in Asgard where the dead warriors are taken; Odin is also known to reside there (pantheon/odin).
