What we learn in our lives changes who we are as a person. It also influences the decisions that we make and controls our interests. What we learn determines how our life will turn out and what paths we will take in our future. A great example of this is in Dr Seuss’ “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” when the Grinch learns that Christmas is not just about the presents and decorations and that it is a time of happiness and generosity, he decides to turn from bad to good for the rest of his life. When one chooses to learn new things, then one is open to many new ideas for the future because every time we make a choice in life, it is based on what we have learned.
One of the most important aspects that come from learning new things is being

able to learn from the mistakes that we make. In the history of mankind, many nations have made some immense mistakes that we must learn from in order to make sure that the same mistakes don’t happen again. George Santayana once said “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” It is best to learn from these experiences and move on in life without making the same bad choices in life again. In order to become a better person and progress in life, one must learn to accept the decision that they have made, deal with the consequences then never make the same mistake again. It is also possible to learn from someone else’s mistakes so that one ill never have to make that fault for the first time. It can even be very small things like if one is learning how to skate and one falls because of something they did, then one will learn from their mistake and won’t do it again to ensure that they will not fall again. Learning from one’s mistakes is arguably the most important part of discovering new things and is an essential part of progressing in life and growing as a person because one won’t make bad decisions in the future because they have already learned from them. The main result of learning something new is growth.
For example, in school every moment one is learning something new whether it is a part of history, a new method to solve a problem in math, a new language, or even how to do a layup in gym which can all help one grow as a person. In school, one is also exposed to many new ideas which could come from their teachers, friends, or classmates that can influence them on how they act or their interests for different hobbies or even for what they will want to be in the future when they grow up. These ideas can greatly affect what one will enjoy doing in their life. It could be a pass time which could turn into a job that they will love. One is continuously learning even outside of school. It could just be small things that one discovers but one never fully stops learning. One is learning something in everything they do. They could be learning by reading a book, doing homework, simply talking to someone or by playing their favourite games, all of which makes one a smarter and wiser person. If we could not learn anything new, we could never be able grow as a person and be able make better choices in our lives. In addition, there are constantly new ideas that enter one’s mind which leave one to ponder on these thoughts. Curiosity also plays a major role in discovering new things. If one is curious about something interesting ,then one will want to explore the idea more. The more one explores an idea, the more they will learn. Exploring these new ideas are a fantastic thing to do because one may find a different interest that they will enjoy much more than their current interests and will lead one to change as a person and go on to live life in a better way by changing the path they go on and making different choices which relate to what they have like to
do. Learning new things will help prepare one for the future in many different ways. One will make their decisions for what they will do in the future based on what they have learned in the past. Everyone is constantly thinking about the future and what choices they should make in order to be happy. These decisions include what job one will get, what their home will be like, where they will travel or if they will travel, and many more. In addition to constantly thinking about the future, one is also continually learning new things and seeing new ideas that can change how they want to live their lives. Everything one learns throughout his or her life is a factor in how their life will turn out. One can learn what job they will want to have when they grow up when they are very young and strive to be that person for the rest of their life and that affects what kind of person they are. Also, one will pick up on things that other people do when one is young for example, they may see their parents doing something illegal or immoral and think that it is ok to do so and that can change their whole life from that moment onward. This shows that any single thing that one learns can change the course of their entire life, possibly without them even knowing it. Something that may seem small at the time can play a major role in one’s life in determining their future by having one go on a different path in life and make different choices that they would not have made otherwise. In conclusion, by choosing to discover and explore new ideas, one can live their life based on what they like to do and make moral choices in attaining their goals so they can do what they like. Learning is an extremely important part in determining the course of one’s future in multiple ways. Learning is what allows us to change our course in our life if we find something new that we want to do. If we could not learn and discover new things throughout their life, then everyone’s life would be on a set path and they couldn’t change a thing. Learning shapes the way we think and it is vital that we discover new things if you want to progress in life. Ultimately, the ability to learn and discover new things, will lead to having a much better life because it allows one to do what they truly love.
the many things that can be learned from it, instead of looking at it passively. You grow
The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins, told in folktale style, was written by Dr. Seuss in 1938. According to Charity Belle Mays, “Folktales deal with adventures both plausible and implausible wrapped in the forms of human or animal abilities. They are the simple tales that have truly evil people or animals, and truly good people or animals, and the good always wins out in the end in these stories, giving way to the child's version of fairness.” This story recounts young Bartholomew Cubbin’s misadventures while going to market in town. Bartholomew, a paragon of politeness and obedience, unwittingly finds trouble when he is unable to keep a hat off his head and offends King Derwin.
Each and every one of us learns throughout our daily lives. We learn from others and through our experiences. As we grow older and become more mature, we develop a deeper understanding of ourselves as we slowly move away from following others to constructing our own perspectives on the world around us. Self-discovery is what gives us a self-realization of what we value, care and love, and thus allowing us to affirm our values in society.

In Charles Webb’s “The Death of Santa Claus,” the speaker describe how a story of how Santa Claus died to him once he found out Santa Claus is not actually real. In the first half of the poem, Webb tells the story of how Santa Claus was feeling kinda sick and the sickness turned into his death. At the end of poem the 8 year old kid telling the story about Santa Claus gives the reader some details but not many, on how his mom had to tell him Santa Claus was not real.
Dr. Seuss Throughout Dr. Seuss’s life, he has written dozens of books with over one hundred million copies sold, and still being produced to this day. Theodor Seuss Geisel is a well-known author that had many inspirations for his works that are still read by millions today, such as Yertle the Turtle, The Sneeches, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. His inevitable fame and fortune came with a lot of pressure; pressure of his readers as well as pressure of his producers. Dr. Seuss was born in Springfield, MA on March 2, 1904 as Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss At Work). He attended Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.
Charles dickens classic novella “A Christmas Carol” endorses the notion that “Generosity involves more than the giving of money, it’s also about the giving of one's goodwill, compassion, sympathy, empathy and kindness. By taking his seemingly irredeemable protagonist Ebenezer Scrooge on a supernatural journey, Dickens’ intends to convey to all of society the importance of generosity. He proclaims that generosity of the spirit defines Christmas, and goes a large way towards defining true humanity for him as well.
Dr. Seuss I took an unconventional approach in the topic I chose for my reading assignment – whereas most groups selected single novels, my partner and I opted to read a collection of short stories by none other than the notorious Dr. Seuss. Were I writing this essay on a “normal” book, I would be able to pose a question about the book itself and answer it in an ordinary sort of way. However, given the subject matter I have chosen, an essay on an individual book, though possible, would be a very tricky thing to do. It would be wiser, and probably easier, to respond to the man himself. My decision to respond to the man himself makes many more choices – what facet of Dr. Seuss shall I ask myself questions about? I think perhaps I first need to give some brief biographical information on the man to understand the background he’s coming from. In 1904, Theodore Seuss Geisel was born in Massachusetts, USA. I have not been able to find too much documentation about his childhood, but he certainly did not come from a terribly poor or terribly unsuccessful family… in fact, his family had owned a local brewery in their home town of Springfield for several years. Ever since his childhood, Geisel had dabbled in the fields we all know and love him for today… for instance, during bible recitals, he read the verses to a rhythm and often in rhyme. In High School he wrote many short essays and drew cartoons for the school paper, and even then he had adopted a pseudonym for himself – “Pete the Pessimist”. Upon graduation, Geisel began studying literature at Oxford university, as his original intent was to become an educator… even then, he punctuated his time at Oxford with his job editing and contributing to the “Jack-O-Lantern”, ...

In survival situations learning is very crucial. In the story lord of the flies as well as in the movie castaway a lot of learning is portrayed. For instance at the beginning of the story the boys cannot think of a way to start a fire. But by learning they find out that they can use piggy's glasses as a type of fire starter. When the boys first
“There is an old illusion. It is called good and evil.” (Friedrich Nietzsche) Despite dying over 50 years before Dr. Seuss’s story “The Cat in the Hat” was published, Friedrich’s words exemplify the relationship between the Cat and the Fish perfectly. On a rainy day with absolutely nothing to amuse themselves, The Cat in the Hat arrives to initiate some fun.
For example, when a graduate steps out of the school and enter the insurance company, he is well equipped with the fundamental mathematical and business knowledge, as well as the analytic skills and understanding of market behavior. Only when he is able to apply his knowledge and skills to his work after, he is starting to become an influential actuary. Moreover, he should learn from people around him by listening to their opinions and observe how they what they learn to deal with various situations at work. Even the great master Confucius had to reflect on himself that “Am I a learned man? No I am not. But if a farmer asks me a question and my mind is a total blank, I shall keep turning the question over in my mind until I come up with an answer” and “There are those people who can do without knowledge, but I am not one of them. I listen to many views and choose the sound ones to follow. I see many things and keep them in my memory. Knowledge attained this way is the second best” (passage 7.28, The Analects). Knowledgeable as Confucius is, he kept seeking and absorbing new ideas from people around him to improve himself. Learning is
Lifelong learning is important because knowledge is the primary source of value in the world today and ability to expand our mind and thinking out of box is the key to attain success.
